Two more hours this week, total of three. Then six hours next week. sorry I've been awol.

I was outta town at a conference, and the week after was brutal. I'm slowly getting back to it (loooove my new swimp3 player!) and ...just scored a BIKE! - a friend gave me a trek touring bike with bulletproof tires. It's the first time I've had a serious road bike, and I looove the speed.

So THANKS for the head's up on pre-race routine, I hadn't thought about it that way. So far, I've had to cancel FOUR races because of work trips (I'm a touring musician) and I'm bummed. But back on the wagon. Donkeydonkey.

Thanks, group!

Finally put some green on my charts, 1hr on the drainer today.
My workout week ends tomorrow, a bike + run should put me over my 8hrs. All done while dealing with a cold since Wednesday.

Looks like most of the U.S. is going to be dry and warmer this weekend, I hope everyone gets to take advantage of it!

Got a swim in today and so my total for the week is ... 2.45 hrs. Hope to ride for the first time in 2010 tomorrow after I attend the Bike Swap & Expo here in Chesterfield. Hoping all the bike related stuff will get me going on the real thing again.

4.5 hours and 29 seconds!  I was going to end up 10 minutes short, but the pledge kept me going. Darn you Davey!

Next week I'll shoot for 5.

ESCHHHHH!!!  I came up 45 min short of my 8hrs.  1/2 way through my long ride yesterday that I was on pace to blow away my time, I swerved to miss a pothole, nearly into oncoming traffic, as I swerved back, I had an unopportunistic meeting with a 6 inch curb.  Blew both of my tires, but managed to stay upright. No damage to the bike, (upon further inspection, I do indeed have 2 bent rims, FU#K) but I had to call for a pick-up. I am totally bummed that i missed my time.

I will evaluate my planned training this week and make a new pledge.  I start today with an 8 mile run.  Enjoy the day.

I am glad you are alright. Better a bent rim than a separated shoulder or worse. I just got my bike out yesterday to check it out since I hadn't been on it since I crashed in Oct and found out my left shifter is broken. Everything else looked fine. Tooled around the neighborhood for about 30 minutes with my 8 year old since it was such a nice day. I guess I better take it in for service before we have any more nice weather.

I'd give up 45 minutes any week to come out of a near wreck, and only minor injury to your bike.  Glad you're OK.

Brian,
Glad to hear that you are ok.  The bike can always be fixed or replace, but major injury can stick around for a while.

I did not make my pledged hours, totally blew it.  I was going to run on Saturday, but felt the dreaded "twinge" in my shins and decided to rest.  That rest also included weights and cardio. I was going to hit the gym on Sunday and decided to take a nap before, only to wake up with only 30 minutes left until the gym closed.  No time to get my stuff and make it there for any decent workout.  Totally blew it.

Anyway, new week, new pledge.  I am in for 6.25 hours this week (up from 5 hours last week).

So, as of this morning:  Pledged 6.25 hours, completed 1.1 hours, 5.15 hours left.

Have a great week.

Thanks guys.  An injury would have put this on perspective for me, but now that I'm staring down the barrel of potentially a few hundred dollars worth of bike damage, plus bike workouts out of commission for at least the next few days, has me bummed.  I'm taking her over to my LBS tomorrow after work hoping they can just fix the wheels.  If I have to replace them, i will not be a happy camper.  I know I will want to upgrade, but really don't want to spend all that cash.

As for this weeks pledge, I'm going to assume the bike is out and that is worth 2.5 to me, so I'll go conservative and say 6 with 1hr complete. I will replace my saturday bike with an extra swim on Saturday if I have to, or get my MTB back from my brother and take that out.

Davey, what did we end up with last week?

Guys,

It took me some effort to drag my butt out of bed this morning (I am not looking forward to daylight savings time next week) but I made it to the gym.  Eliptical, lower body, and core today for 58 minutes.  Pledged 6:15, today 58 minutes, total this week so far 2 hrs.

Have a great day.

from what i could tell (albeit, very quick glance thru due to bigwigs being on the shop floor for some reason today......mucking up my planned BT time!!) we had a total of 42.5 hours pledged and 23.5 hours completed...........since that doesnt make sense to me due to the dedication of all of us hard core athletes, i will recheck my numbers and math skills thru out the day!

I don't know if it is the weather, the new running playlist I recently created, all the training I've been doing, the 16lbs I lost to date, or maybe all of the above, but my running is definitly getting faster!  Sun I clocked 8:00 min miles over an 8 mile run and today I put in 4 miles at lunch at 7:30 per mile, 7:30, outside too! I had to check the math 3x on each run but there is no errror, I am happy to report, I am indeed getting faster and it feels AWESOME!

I got in 4 out of my 5 hours last week. We had some kids make nationals and zones that we didnt think would make it, so we went and celebrated pretty hard after the meet. Pretty much blew my sunday up.

Great job. I was so inspired by your results I went out last night after work and went for it. I was sucking wind and realized at the end of the run that I just gave blood on Sunday and that was holding me back. Not enough blood cells had been replaced to transfer O2 to the muscles. So maybe this weekend I can try again.

pledged total of 11 for this week and sitting shakily at just under 5 total hours.  have an hour on the trainer after work (gonna start watching superbad!) then an hour for some yoga tomorrow and also 30-45 mins running........weekend plan is a 20 mile run so that should be about another 2.5 hours or so.................

runs lately have been feeling pretty good, minus some minor pain on my lower right leg.  well monitor that and maybe, just maybe go get a massage.........

Dave,
Love the chart, but I am a geek when it comes to charts and graphs anyway.

Run with upper body and core this morning.  I am really not looking forward to Monday with daylight savings time.  It will be hard to get out of bed the first few days.

Pledged 6:15, today 1.1 hours, total this week so far 3.1 hours, 3 hours left (or so).  Forgot to schedule in a rest day so yesterday was my rest day (old men like myself really need a rest day) so hopefully I can still hit the 6:15 for the week.  Depending on the work day tomorrow, I should be able to beat off the high schoolers after work and get in my workout.

Have a great day.
