Man T, that is awful.  Glad to see you are on the road to recovery.  Keep up the training and see you in 5 weeks.

T in Liberty Lake - 2009-05-12 5:13 PM

I still have a little insurance money left to spend; will most likely use it to buy new tires and tubes.

my first thought was "sweet...he'll have insurance money left over to buy us beers after the race!"

but seriously, glad you're OK and hope you can race (and buy us beers afterwards     )

Woo Hoo Beers on T!!!

Ya know, the road to an Ironman is said to be more telling than the actual race... Seems like we all have some story (some better and more dramatic than others ie. T and IronLib)

Five weeks ladies and gentlemen!

Is it too early to start obsessing about packing lists and meet-up logistics?

No need to obsess!

Today, I finally got my bike set up with the tubulars! Looking forward to trying them out.

Friendly reminder that anyone with bike issues should get them fixed now because you never wanna do any last minute work on the bike in case something goes terribly wrong, plus for those of us using Tri Bike Transport have to turn in out bikes even sooner!!!

80 degrees here yesterday and will be 80+ today.  The lake is warming up quickly and we should be able to swim in it soon.  No worries for race day.

ironlib - 2009-05-18 6:57 AM any chance for sleeveless wetsuit?

I plan on wearing one.  We really will not know where the lake temp will be until the start of race week.  I have seen the lake temps jump 5 degrees in just a few days.

At this rate, I can't imagine a sleeveless would be a bad choice. After my ride yesterday, I messed around in the water with my swim shorts on. The water seemed fine to swim in with a wetsuit...there were people swimming without them.

Forecast shows mostly 70+ temps for the next 10 days.

Does anyone know of competitors or competitors relatives/support teams that needs very reasonably priced accommodations?

There are 3 of us from Saskatoon competing and our support group is very light, but we've rented a house that sleeps 8 people. It'd be nice to defray even a tiny bit of the cost, and help someone out that might be scrambling.

For more info, just message me.

I have reservations for my buddy and I at a local motel but could bail out I think. What are you looking to get? We leave Wed Am and are leaving Mon. night.

I second the earlier comment about taking care of your bike!

I tried to go one more week before getting my QR Tequilo serviced.  My chain was making some noise but I wanted to get closer to race day before taking it in.  Well, on Saturday, the chain snapped, grabbed the rear derrailleur, and snapped off the derrailleur and hanger (which is part of the frame).  So now, the frame is pretty much useless (unless I want a single speed bike).  I called the QR tech line and they confirmed that I could not put on a replacement hanger.

Good news, I will soon be the proud new owner of QR Seduza.  Bad news, I had to pay for it.

Keep up the training... approx 2 weeks until taper!

Not that spending money is fun, but look at it as an excuse for a new bike!!!!

2 weeks until taper?  I think I have another 3 1/2 weeks until taper...I'm starting to think my coach is sadistic!  (j/k...Jorge is awesome)

My coach and your coach must have made pacts with the devil! I am over 3 weeks out from taper, as well.

I had a recovery week last week, but I felt like I was missing valuable training time.  Does anyone else get that?

I haven't been intentionally tapering but the schedule lately has only left me with time to do my long days and squeezing P90X Yoga X in. I feel pretty decent all things considered.

Probably one more 110 mile ride this Sat, 2 more 20 plus mile runs and that will bring me to about 2-3 weeks out. Geez, 4 weeks tomorrow!!!

This weekend's ride will be my first ever on full carbon tubular wheels. Can't wait!

I'm too busy to actually miss valuable training time

I'm feeling pretty good about the training.  I may not hit my goal paces, but I'm confident I can finish.

I did my longest ride on my training schedule today. 120 miles over and done! Still got two more weeks to ramp up the run. I will only get one 20 miler. Just hoping my body will tolerate that one. No more injuries!!!

This is my first IM so I don't have enough history to have that confidence.  So when I'm not training, I feel like i should be.  If this were a marathon or HIM I would have a pretty good idea of where I am.

Someone just tell me that my 5:15 HIM on a flat course equals a 10:30 at CDA.  That's how it works right?
