StandsWithFist - 2007-11-02 1:56 PM I'm in.  Just tell me where to go to meet up.  Also if we get there around 6:30ish with the intention of being ON THE ROAD by 7, that would be good.

You do realize this isn't summer anymore right? And that cars will be there anytime after 7...  I value my beauty sleep.

These were Bryan's directions from the previous page:

Start on Fountain hills Blvd. where it leaves town heading out towards McDowell Mountain Park. There is a small strip mall there to park and meet in.
Head north up McDowell Mountain Road into Rio and Tonto Verde.
Turn right and head east up Dynamite to Pima.
Turn south on Pima down to Thompson Peak.
Turn left on Thompson Peak and work around to Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd.
Left on Frank Lloyd right to Via Linda.
Left on Via Linda and head back up to Shea.
Left on Shea up into Fountain Hills.
Left on Pallisades and drop into town and back to Fountain Hills Blvd.
Left on Fountain Hills Blvd back to parking lot.
It's about 47 miles or so all the way around.

Just need to get to that strip mall at 6:30. Where's the strip mall?

I would be happy to meet you all at 7:00am in the parking lot across from the Fountain Hills Middle School on Fountain Hills Blvd. That's on the far north side of town, just before F.H. Blvd. becomes McDowell Mountain Road and head north. It's a perfect spot to meet, there's a small strip mall that's deserted on the weekends. It's on the right. If you leave town and are in the desert, you JUST missed it.
And yes, you all must be home for PATS v. COLTS!!!!

I vote for a somewhat later start at the location Bryan mentioned. Say 9am, should get everyone home just in time for Pats Colts.

**I suggest not tooo early in the morning!**

I think this might have been overlooked! I promised my body no more of this once it cooled down. I was hoping for more like 10AM since its a bit of a drive, but I can swing 9AM.

I've got my daughter this weekend. Need to get the ride done early. If it's later than 7, I'm out.

I am laughing because this is a clear division between those with kids (who like to get up early and get their training in to try to reduce the time spent away from family), and those with no kids, (who totally get to be on their own schedule and who we are all jealous of)!

So is this route something we will be doing loops of?  If so, could the early birds start with an early loop, then others can join in on loop 2?  Bryan, how many miles is this loop, and about how long does it take mortal humans to do it who are not trying to push them selves, and rather put  time in the saddle?

Yeah that makes perfect sense for those with the kiddos. And for those lucky ones who got the good body clocks who allow for an early wake-up! I cannot even get to work before 9AM!

Unfortch this is not a loop ride. It is 47 miles for one loop.

Looks like we might have to do two seperate groups throughout the winter, early risers and later risers. I don't know what the other compromise would be? Suggesstions?

I'm up for the early ride, I don't know what kind of numbers we're looking at right now but if there isn't much interest in the early AM then I might ride around home. Let me know, would prefer the group ride.

So I'll be up for a later group in the Sundays that follow.

Oh, I don't think we're really going to be having any of those now

Yup, envy my kidless self. I'm up for the later group. I'm also an IM-training nutjob, so if there's ever 2 loops I'm fine for that too.

I'll be there for 10.

So waz the dealio people? Are we meeting at 10 then? Or is there a 7am group and a 10am group? I hate that, but if that is what we have to do this Sunday, then I guess it is. HOWEVER, I think on the 11th we need to all gang up for the 5 hour SLOW/FLAT TIME IN THE SADDLE RIDE.

CHIME IN PEOPLE!!! It's getting late.

I will just make one comment. Training is a discipline. Getting up early is a discipline. Both lead to success. Having a routine of hitting it early on the weekends helps your body adapt to racing early on the weekends. I don't have kids, but I'm up by 4-5 am everyday, going to work or going to train. Discipline is a good thing.

Just got off the phone with Chris. Looks like the majority consensus from the group is a 10am ride.  Sorry Bryan. I would have loved to have you "show us the way" and have a chance to meet you and chat with you, but looks like we will be missing you unless you want to hang back and go late.  Same for you Zach....haven't seen you in forever.  Perhaps we can do an every other Sunday thing early/late.  (Woz....hope you can swing it!)

So......are we meeting at the strip Mall across from the Elementary School that Bryan suggested?  Please let me know!

OK going by the directions we can park here:

**Just google Fountain Hilsl Middle School**

I loosely plotted it on the map. I also added some loops within FH to the map incase we do not meet our 4 hour goal time.
