Plainsman AU - 2009-06-26 8:41 AM MILESTONE for me this morning, so I thought I would share.  I just did my first 10 mile run this morning.  (if you want to call it a run).  Actually, lets just say I kept it moving forward for 10 miles.  I tried to keep my HR in zone 2 and was able to do that for the full 10 miles which I thought was an accomplishment.  I walked a couple of hills when HR broke out of my zone, but actually very little walking.  Pace was in the 11 minute range, but I did bring it home the last 3/4 mile at 8.5 to 9 pace.

I think if I can get 8 to 10 more of these in prior to HIM I will be ready...I hope.  They have got to get easier right?

Good luck to all those racing this weekend, and to all those who aren't ...have a couple of good training days and a fun filled weekend.

I think we are off to the lake some this weekend where I will do an OWS and try to keep Anheiser Busch's stock in check since john is on the wagon till after his race.

Congrats!  Great Job.  I love personal milestones and achieving them!

DougRob - 2009-06-26 10:53 AM These title changes can be confusing!

Going to buy my 9 year old son a new bike tomorrow. He outgrew the old one and subsequently broke both bones in his right arm. So he has been without a bike for awhile. HE wants a green one.(?!) I have a busy day tomoorw with that and a lot of other stuff, so I am hoping it keeps my mind off of the race sunday.

Doug

I sent out some inspires, but if I missed anyone racing this weekend, Good luck and I am with you in spirit!

Doug, you are going to absolutely rock on Sunday - no worries!

Tony and I were talking via email about what I do for a living yesterday (other than being on here all day) and how its so cool that space so close can be so different.  Check out the bike course.  Dead a$$ flat then canyons...back and forth.  I think its so cool.  Maybe not sunday for a few hours but in general...yup.   Thats ~10 miles E/W  by 5 miles N/S

btw this took me all of 10 minutes to make and its crappy.  but its almost as good as what they had on the website.  LOL!

DougRob - 2009-06-26 12:01 PM I got my bib # and swim start time just now. Something seems wrong. One of the guys I did the open water swim with is 126 people in front of me, yet I swam faster than him in the lake. MAybe he was dogging it. I hope I gave a good projected time. If not it could be an uncomfortable pool swim.

Linda (Havin'Fun): I think you are one of the first with bib # 34!

Doug

Either there are some really fast kids doing this race this weekend or the swim times are really messed up.  Last year I was bib #6...and my time was about the same.  Sunday will be interesting.  I am not a big fan of these pool swims....if somone ahead of you is mis-seeded it is a pain getting around them - in an ows you usually have more room to get around them.  Should be fun....and HOT!

Trevor,
Sorry if you already posted...but did you get your Infinit?  If so, what do you think?
I'm ready to create my own formulation with them, but wanted to see what you thought.
Training is going to take me long soon, and I really need to work on my nutrition.

Keep in mind this is advice from a newb...I had tried it a few times in training, then used it last weekend for my 1st Oly.
I LOVED it. I tried something different this time though. My Sprints I had been over-nutritioning(huh?) myself.
So for this, I had and Aerobottle full of Infinit(2 scoops), a bottle of water on my cage, and 1 GU. I used the GU 15 minutes or so before T2 and drank pretty much the whole aerobottle and water bottle. I felt great! I as well designed a custom blend. I know Kim uses it currently as well.

Matt, don't let him come anywhere NEAR your new bike!

John, good luck on your race!  Lubbock must be damp not dry if you can fly beer in

ah, trevor, you are on a roll today!

Linda, I got the Infinit custom formulation about 2 weeks ago and have used it on 2 50+ rides...really like it...lots of energy and better than the cytomax I was using which made me a bit bloaty.  It's really not all that expensive, either which I was surprised by.

Good luck this weekend, Doug, Linda, Shannon, and Tony....and Roni! the crazy one doing the marathon only one week after Boise!!!  Hope I didn't miss anyone.

Well guess who is hanging out in my office this afternoon? (hmm, guess she needs a name)

I'd narrowed my search down to 4 bikes, one of which I eliminated before test rides based on components at that price point.  I rode the other 3 at lunch, might have gone a little long, but who cares.  Anyway, I actually found all three in my size to test ride and liked this baby the best.  I'm still amazed I was able to ride all the finalists and walk out of the store w/ a bike today.  I lucked out big time.  Let's just say I am more than stoked - I'm even using the word stoked.

So, I am the proud new owner of a.............. nah, I think I'll wait until I can throw up some pics with it.

LOL went out today for the first time in probably a year to play golf with my 5 year old, my brother and a friend of his.  Shot a 73 (par 70 course).  My brothers friend who is a personal trainer was asking me if I was roiding it up for Tri-training because I was crushing drives all day (good ego boost)

Guy on my bike team sent out for sale, Blackwell Research 50MM clincher for 325... Debating on pulling the trigger, that is such a great price.

Also, I am still trying to figure out which Infinit mix I want.  Thought is to use concentrated bottles for MCM nutrition.  I made my own, just need to compare it to their Marathon mix and Triathlon mix to see if it is something I can use for each, don't really want to buy 2-3 different formulas yet.
