Selachophobia - 2011-06-15 7:23 AM For locals as well, I am eyeing the weather there every day....  The 10 day forecast out has Saturday 06/24 at partly sunny and 71 for a high....   How accurate are the weather guys??   Partly sunny and 71 works perfect for me, but in Kansas City they rarely get it right the night before let alone 10 days out.....  Thoughts?
CDA weather can literally change overnight. Case in point, we went up to ride and run over Memorial Day weekend. Friday night when we went to sleep in CDA the forecast for a high of 54 and 60% chance of rain We woke up 8 hours later to 20% chance of rain (never rained) and a high of 60 When you leave for CDA next week (less than 5 days out or so) is when the weather *might* be close to accurate. In other news the water temp went from 56.6 to 54.1

Thanks Bonnie, that is exactly how Kansas City weather is as well, plus we can be 85 degrees one day and 40 the next......  It's weird that in 2011 we cannot get better forecast..... LOL  I am sure it is harder than I give it credit to be......

Awe man, I guess I am not one of the cool kids.

I think I might have qualified as a Clyde when I first started all of this in 2005, (I weighed 215) but I doubt that they are going to me into the club now that I am 50 pounds lighter.

I don't think I will be racing in a TuTu or a cute running skirt so my guess is, I miss the bus again

your def in the Clydes group with those melons. in fact you look pretty sweet haha

I may have a false alarm but i cant pull up the participant list page for . Could they be going up?

They just pulled the old participant list to prevent us from bringing down their servers by reloading in mass.  Maybe we have to wait until check-in to get our numbers this year

tribean - 2011-06-15 8:29 AM I have to ask, why are we so worried about our race numbers?  Is it a confirmation?  "Oh Yah I'm in this thing for real!"  I feel like a little kid waiting for something cool.  When in fact it's just associating a number to my name.  You would think just seeing my name on the participant list would be good enough.

Not one of those people...staying all logical during taper

It's just a fun check point in the build-up to the race for me.   I'm also one of those people that waits about a week to cut my athlete wrist band off.  It just makes the whole experience last longer.

Because Ironman has been so slow getting the bib numbers out this year, it's turned into a "damn the man!" thing for me.  Fun to have something to aim my taper crazy energy at.

Back in the early days of this thread, there was lots of talk about weight loss goals... did anyone set a big goal and achieve it getting ready for this? I'm racing as a neither a Clyde nor a teeny at 6'2 160 - I got called "gaunt" yesterday by someone I don't see too often, so I took that as a good sign that I'm at race weight.

I also just signed up for Ironman NYC next year, completely against my plan to get through CDA before deciding if I want to do another IM. Couldn't resist the temptation to do an IM right where I grew up.

Now that the participant list is unavailable I hope they put the old style list up again.  The one that you could slice and dice.  It was nice to be able to sort it by age group, state, whatever.

Looking at the list they had you couldn't tell what Pros where racing.

I'm with in a pound of what the goal was.  Goal 175 actual 176.

Bib numbers have been posted!

I'm number #408.  Good number, but I don't think I won the "guess your number" game. I guessed #203.

That's an exaggeration, it was only $950 with all the stupid fees Seriously, ouch, but I wanted to do one in New York and the lodging and travel to LP would cost much more overall. And my wife has a lot of stuff she wants to do in NYC, so she's happier with this.

I got 2387. Looks like there are 2816 participants, since that's the highest number in the list (Merrill Schwartz, age 70... god bless him.)
