14 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Good morning everyone! Only four days to go. I just arrived at the office for my last day before the race. It's currently 81 degrees with the humidity hovering at 72% and it's 6:00 a.m. EST here in Southeast PA. I can't wait to get to LP and enjoy those cooler temps. |

6 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread While I haven't posted in here too often, I sincerely appreciate the help, advice and words of encouragement everyone has offered when I had 1st time attempting an Ironman question. Unfortunately this dream will have to be realized another day. My dear mother-in-law passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday here in St. Louis. Her service is later this week. We were supposed to have left yesterday to drive towards Lake Placid with plans of spending 3 weeks on Cape Cod after the race. But we are needed here now during as more important matters obviously have taken over. I just wanted to wish everyone good luck - I'll be cheering you all on from a far rather than swimming, biking and running (or, in my case, walking and crawling) along side you all. I felt prepared for this race thanks in large part to the advice I was given on this forum - so thank you all and good luck this weekend. |

Master 2912 ...at home in The ATL | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread DaveyD - very sorry to hear that, but first things first, and family is way out front in times like these. Sounds like you have done the work and are ready for the race - I hope you can get rescheduled to another race this season and make good use of the fitness. Maybe you can even get online Monday at 12pm eastern and grab a 2013 slot if they are still available after onsite registration. Peace to you and your family. |

x2 I was able to follow Ryan last year through the IM journey, and Kathy was very involved and I have also value all her wisdom. It's good to see previous year's athletes check in on this years athletes. Definitely gives it a big family feel. |

That looks a little familiar, I'm not going to fall for that again, I'm still thinking that I have to go up the Bears 4 times because of the bike route change |

New user 10 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread #1391 - Marty Got to Placid last night in the middle of a nasty storm...had a tree fall on the road about 50' in front of us as we were heading up the hill from Keene...feel very lucky to have dodged that. Just got back from a swim in Mirror Lake. Water feels great and there is lots of activity here in town. Safe travels to everyone on their way into town and good luck on Sunday. Following this thread daily has been a huge part of my preparation for this. Thanks again for everyone's advice and help. |
