You signed up for two HIMs!  My HERO!!!!  I don't plan to ever do another one (especially if I have to swim in gulf or if the temperatures are predicted to be over 75).

Good Morning,

Yesterday I figured out what has me upset about my tri swim on Sunday: it's the blow to my confidence. I was feeling so good and confident about my swimming and was expecting a good swim. I wasn't expecting to be fighting internal demons and the feeling that I wasn't going to be able to do/finish the swim. I am more than capable of doing a 750m OWS! On Sunday I completed the distance but not the way I expected and not without caving in to doubt.

I wasn't originally planning to do my tri club's OWS on Thursday evening, but I now think I need it.

I slept in today - just got up! ...my husband is in Sacramento on business and this was my day to not get up early...was nice! my dog even behaved and didnt get all restless on me and beg to go out....sipping coffee and trying to decide what to do today...I am thinking a bike ride...to the pool...supposed to be in the 90's here this weekend...and sure the pool will be full of locals looking for a place to cool off...so I think I need to swim today and Friday to avoid the weekend crowds.

whatever you decide to do...make it a great day!

anyone racing this weekend?

Wow, everyone must be busy -- out training, I hope!  I've had a coasting week -- a couple of runs, and I plan to bike after work today.  It's hard to get my mind around training again.  I'm running in a race on Memorial Day, and have hopes that I'll be recovered by then (and able to get some decent runs in before it, too).  My legs were so heavy the last couple of days, so I decided to take today off from running and try again tomorrow.  At least the soreness is gone!

It's so strange -- I've never felt so unable to perform.  I'm hoping the bike today goes well, then a good run tomorrow.

Julee asked if anyone was racing this weekend, and no one responded.  I guess that's a no?

This morning I did my first run since the tri. I was expecting it to really hurt but it wasn't bad at all. I still have one sore spot on my right quad where it inserts on the inside of the knee but it didn't bother me while running.

Tomorrow is Bike to Work Day and I'll do my bike commute and hit a rally point near work to pick up goodies and breakfast. Anyone else?

I was planning to do an OWS with my tri group tonight after work but time, distance, and traffic prevented me from getting there on time. Google maps says it's a 45 minute drive but I was allowing an hour. Looks like I would have need 1.5 to be safe. I don't know how others do this on a work day. Maybe I have further to go. Oh well, at least I get my first quiet evening this week so it's not all bad.

I didn't  know that she was in my age group, but I tried to do a finish line sprint and had nothing left in my legs for it.

I did my Bike to Work Day commute this morning. It's my third year and the best so far. In 2007 it was cold and 2008 was cool and raining; today was warm but a bit humid. Since I knew I would be getting breakfast at the rally point I was out of the house an hour earlier than usual. I discovered that it's a much nicer experience at 6:20 than at 7:20; quieter and with less traffic. I think in the future I will plan on getting breakfast down here.

definately splurge nicole! you look amazing in this pic!! so strong and happy--it's a great shot!!

am heading out for a run again here today-=i skipped yesterday-my quads are aching!! i've been off TOO long! out i go-not far and not fast, but at least i can get out in the sun

then i gotta take pie pie to the dr. yesterday she woke up with a -- i don't know, rash? on her whole body? it wasn't a rash exactly, i almost thought it was chicken pox, but i washed her bed, gave her a baking soda bath, and it seemed to clear up-- when she went to bed last night it was almost totally gone, woke up with it worse this morning! i have NO idea what it is. allergy maybe? i haven't changed laundry soap-and i make my own, so it's all natural, and hypoallergenic anyway. she hasn't changed her diet. i am just absolutely without a clue on this one.

anyway, that's the plan for the day--what are YOU all doing?

I think I've dropped almost 10 pounds. Thanks for noticing!

I can't believe how happy I look in that photo because I think it was during that awful first mile uphill slog.

A 5x7 with a cool border that shows my race stats is "only" $12. That's actually kinda reasonable as race photos go
