Regular 1781 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN Pretty happy with my week. 7 1/2 hours of SBR and about 9:20 total with the S&M added in. Swim, x1, 1000m 26 min Bike, x5, 4hr 20min, all zwift Run, x3, 2hr, 44min 21,5km S/M: 1hr 50min total, 2 x post run stretches, 5 x patella physio workout. This week I'm taking a bit of a cutback week, as the last 2 weeks have comfortably been the biggest on the bike this year. I don't want to push to hard too soon and make myself another problem. My knee, honestly feels much the same as it did a few weeks back. fine 95% of the time, but still that sharp pain going down stairs etc. running and biking feel fine during the workout. It's a long process I guess. Have a good week all |

1943 , Kronobergs lan | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN Good week Andrew, and glad the knee is ok most of the time. I may sound like an old grandma here but as we grow older, we learn to live with pain and differentiate between 1) pain that could develop into something serious if ignored and 2) pain you just accept. Talking of which, my achilles tightness (of the No 1 variety) is feeling better after 12 days of minimum running. No major setback after my 10k run on Sunday and 1k brick in Monday. Race week is upon us, and after Gretchen travelling to the other side of the globe for the world championships with thousands of other athletes, we have me, travelling 900 meters for a village race with 60 participants, including 18 in the oly, my chosen distance for this race. Although this year, there are more girls, we are 9 (only 2 last year). The weather is supposed to be nice so I am hoping a few more will sign up on the day. No great hopes time wise but I should be able to beat my first oly’s time in 2021. Goal based on practice this week: S 0:34 B 1:30 R 0:59 T1+T2 2min40 Overall: 3h05m40sec (ie better than 2021 by about 30 seconds) Stretch goal, if all goes well, why not S 0:32 B 1:26 R 0:58 Ts 2:40 Overall 2:58:40 (will be happy with 2:59:59) |

My overall time goal was 10:01:24. Swim 1:09:51 Bike 4:10:35 Run 4:20:58 Transitions 20’ combined (it was huge and far from the swim!) Finish time 10:01:59 (28th AG of 30 starters) Swim 1:12:05 Bike 4:04:56 (17.4mph!) Run 4:31:59 Happy with the swim, bike and transitions. Need to work on the run (as always). More importantly, I felt the joy of racing again yesterday. There was dancing, singing, cheering, and just plain love of the sport. Amaaaazing! Congrats lady! Oh man, I can't wait to hear more but you TOTALLY CRUSHED IT! So proud of you! |

2127 Baltimore, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN Originally posted by jmhpsu93 Solid training over the past four days for me...4 rides on the bike plus a Masters swim session. Longest bike week in months, which isn't saying much. Going to bank on my theory I can put down a respectable bike time with not too much bike training. This has always been my theory |

Expert 4929 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN Originally posted by drfoodlove Good luck today/tomorrow, Mike!! Thanks! Had a good treadmill session with a 4' interval @ I pace and 2 x 1' @ R pace. Legs felt great even after the layoff from running - I guess backing off once in a while works! My back tightened up a bit afterwards but nothing ten minutes in the hot tub couldn't fix. Safe travels!! 2500 or so in the pool tomorrow morning and a threshold bike workout for lunch planned. |

2127 Baltimore, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN Andrew - Looks like a solid week! Sorry to hear you're still having that knee pain, I feel like we have a similar knee issue happening right now, though my pain is actually more when I'm going up the stairs. Also, very impressive how you all train to hang on to the earth! Such strong feet you must have! Nat - Good luck in your race this weekend! I absolutely love that it's basically right outside your door. If more races started right by my house I would do them all the time! Mike - sounds like a solid plan leading up to your race in 5 weeks. Glad to hear your back is feeling better and hopefully that continues! Let us know how your park run goes Saturday. Gretchen - not my ankle, but you got the rest right! Glad you were able to get the dizziness sorted before the race! Also, the fact that you feel pretty good that soon after racing just shows how amazingly well trained/prepared you were. You are a machine, and this just further proves that. Robert - Glad your achilles is still feeling pretty good! |

2127 Baltimore, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN Me - Not much to share. I've taken it pretty easy this week. Did some stretching. Went to the Usher concert Friday night, and either missed or turned off my alarm Saturday morning so did not make it to masters practice Also skipped last night b/c I had a late meeting and was like, well I'll just work all night, then went home and did NOT work, so felt like a totally wasted evening. And I saw around 10pm that practice was outside so that was salt in the wound. I did play some beach volleyball on Sunday and my knee and hip felt pretty good. Have grass league tonight, which is a bit harder on the body, but I'm going to listen to it better. First off, I need to stretch really well before and between games. Second, if things start feeling tight, I will make sure I stop sooner so I can walk without crazy pain. I still haven't heard back from the ortho re: scheduling my surgery, so I'm going to message my doctor directly to see what the issue is (maybe it needs to come from him?). |

I've been feeling dizzy/lightheaded since we arrived in Australia. (….) My first thought was, well of course, you are on the other side of the earth, hanging upside down! Yeah, the biggest issue with running down here is having to hold onto the ground with our feet so we don't fall right off. And don't even get me started with needing helium in the bike tires to float is back up to the ground Wow!I never knew! I thought you got used to it, especially if born there and that the problem was when you came over here! Fascinating Lol |

Member 3147 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN Home…just 39 hours later. Three planes, two continents, six hours of driving, a wayward bike that went to LAX instead of DFW, and a severe pop up thunderstorm that started just after we got on the shuttle to long term parking and ended just after two drown rats that used to be travelers got into the car. Starting a six hour drive soaking wet sucks…especially when you’re starting it at 7pm. |

399 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN Gretchen - welcome back!!! Hope everyone is having a great week this week. I've been sleeping terribly, waking up way too early. Had a good strength session on Monday. About to go lift again today. No running until tomorrow as I keep resting the Achilles. And the pool is closed for maintenance and cleaning this week. |

We got absolutely soaked by a pop up thunderstorm that started while we were on the shuttle to the long term parking lot and ended about two minutes after we got in the car. :D. It's been my experience that you need to advocate for yourself as a patient, especially in the ortho/spine/pain world. They also have to go through some hoops with authorizations and such, so it can take some time. RE: Masters...we stay outside on Saturdays until end of September, right? I'm loving that outdoor pool. |

Haven't felt that all season and I sucked all season so maybe I won't suck on Saturday. could also be that I am back at work after a 3 weeks break and the AC in the office is causing the scratchy throat and the getting up early in the morning is the cause of the "light headedness" Or, I am really getting sick Edited by Rollergirl 2024-08-29 6:07 AM |

Member 3147 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2023 Mentor Group - ALWAYS OPEN Okay...fully back now... I just sat down in my office on campus for the first time in about seven months...not sure exactly...but it has been a while. I have a bit of catching up to do, that's for sure! So far, so good with the jet lag. I managed to stay awake last night until 8:30pm, with just about a 45 minute nap around 1pm, after waking up at 9am. I wasn't particularly happy about being awake at 5am, but I went swimming, so that made it better. 2000yds in the pool this morning. I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure they replaced the water in the pool with molasses or something thicker, because that swim was a bit rough. |
