I'm planning to wear the same outfit for the whole race. Wetsuit over aero suit, but I will have shorts and a shirt in T2 bag, just to have that option.

I will be riding power for the race.  I'll let my coach make the final determination for what I'll ride but it will likely be targeted at 75% (+/-).  I have no idea about the IF, I don't spend a lot of time determining that number.  As mentioned already the number will probably fluctuate some but that's a general number for me.  Truth be told, in most of the race my coach has given me power numbers I have exceeded his target but NOT by much.  I did Steelhead 70.3 in August with a target of 240 watts and hit a NP of 245 and seemed to have a fairly strong run off the bike.

Assuming your target of 75% means you'll target an NP that is 75% of your FTP, then that is also your IF (IF=0.75). IF is just NP/FTP.

I just got my workout schedule for the final 2 weeks of training and man am I excited to see it!!  I have been hitting the regimen hard and heavy for almost 12 full months to try to achieve my goals and I'm about to see what the day holds.  I looked at the hours I'll be putting in beginning next week and then the final week leading into the race, 15.5 hours of light duty work, other than a swim and long Friday, begins on Monday.  The final week has be hitting only 5 hours before race day.  I'll be so ready to see Monday Oct 5th on the workout schedule!!

 

What does everyone else's final 2 weeks look like?

Is the excitement beginning to peak?

I was hit with food poisoning on Thursday and still in recovery mode. Havent been able to train for a few days because of it. Hopefully it doesnt have a negative impact on my taper....

Assuming the rest of your training has been good, the extra rest will probably help you. Hope you feel better.

Training was going well up until the last several days. I have shingles!!! A couple of weeks ago, I had a pain in my right back area and thought perhaps I had a sore muscle or even a kidney stone. The pain didn't make a whole lot of sense. My skin was very sore and painful to touch. It was when I saw the classic rash on my back several days ago that I realized I got shingles! Well that's just sh*tty timing! I guess with all the training, working, mothering, and life in general, stress and probably a lower immunity system caused this unwanted nuisance!! I've been dealing with it, but I sure as hell am not going to back out of this race!!! My confidence has been shaken and I'm feeling pretty crappy about the situation. With all the things to worry about, shingles was not what I was expecting to be my potential downfall. Hopefully, things will clear up by race day. This is my first full IM and I really want to complete this journey.

Shouldn't be a problem. I caught a stomach bug last weekend and it wiped out Sun/Mon/Tue training. But I felt great the rest of the week, and I think the little rest helped.

Very sorry to hear this. My wife got shingles about 6 weeks ago and I was nervous I'd get it. But my wife got on the Valtrex rather quickly, and her case wasn't too bad. Traces of the rash lasted a while, but she was feeling normal again in well under two weeks. I hope yours clears up soon.

Crappy week of training for me...

All the rain (in NC) caused me to put off my last longish brick. Not worth the risk of riding out in that crap two weeks before the race, IMO.

As we're officially in taper now, just want to mention that we're not going to gain any fitness from now until IMKY. What we do in these two weeks could impact the race, however. Get some rest, what what you eat, increase intensity, and decrease volume.

I started off my real taper off in style...I registered for 2016 IM Chattanooga today.

As for IMLou, I decided to swap out my 11-25 for an 11-28. On a couple of my last long rides, I hit some hills in a headwind and bottomed out my gearing. So I convinced myself I MIGHT want that 28 on race day, to help save the legs. I figured it wouldn't really hurt to have it, just in case. I feel ready for the challenge, and just want race day to get here.

Training went well this training cycle, I'm as ready as I'm going to be. This is my 3rd time doing Ironman Louisville but the first time I had hills to train so I am anxious to see the difference in my bike splits. Temperature being under 100 degrees should help too

Ha, I have to keep reminding myself this. I finally got to see my Dr. and am on the appropriate medication. The pain is slowly easing up, but man, shingles pain is no effing joke. I'm taking one more rest day off today and resuming my taper training (lol) tomorrow. I will feel a lot better about this race once I'm feeling back to normal. I'm glad I at least got in my long stuff!!!

On a good note, it's been raining in Louisville, so the algae is probably not going to be an issue come race day.

glad to hear you're recovering! I guess the best time to have to recover is during taper. 2 for 1, no?

ugh, the rain has been non stop...the last 3 rides i've done outside have all been in the rain. i'm sick of it...isn't there a cold front coming in that's going to affect the east coast? it could make for a chilly day at IMKY.

No one really knows right now. IM is watching it and won't decide anything until next week. With the expected rain and lower temps the chances are good that it will resolve. So we are all kind of keeping our fingers crossed.

i'm not a weather watcher, especially this far out, but the extended forecast (intellicast) for IMKY is available, as of today. Looks like cooler temps and rain for the next few days, which should flush a good portion of that crap down the river.

btw, just got the obligatory pre-IM bug, but am happy to say that this one didn't happen the day before the big event, unlike last year.

Hope that moves out quickly for you. I caught it about 10 days ago and all is resolved thankfully. Just had to do peak volume with a bit of a sore throat and congestion. Thankfully it is gone now. Rest, plenty of fluids and rest. Feel better.

What does everyone think about meeting up for coffee on Saturday morning (10/10) at 10 a.m.? Quick search shows a local Louisville coffee shop, Heine Brothers, at 516 W. Main St. - about half a mile from the Great Lawn and all of the activity. 

Practice swim is from 8-10 a.m. so everyone could do that if they were planning on it. 
Also, the Underpants Run is at 11:30 if anyone is interested.
