Hey Anthony you will need to teach yourself to learn how to harden up. The best way is just getting out there and getting it done! You can do it!

yup, nailed that one on the head.  i'm a complete nancy when i let the mental demons take over.

i needed that, thanks!

I am finally getting what I am looking for in this group. Ya'll need to be encouraging each other to get it way done so you can rock out the races this season!!! Be sure your also writing quick encouraging/motivating notes on each others logs. Keep up the great work. I do know who is active on here and who is not. I am checking on your logs 2-3x a week. It's harder to figure out something to write ya'll when your logs are blank or  no data or notes about your workouts. I like detail.

Saying from underneath 1+ feet of snow in New York! The weather here has been nuts. Very pretty, but I was just looking forward to the snow on the track melting. Guess that means the treadmill for another week or so.

Unfortunately, I came down with a little cold this week- had a fever on Wednesday, which conveniently was going to be my off day anyway, but then had to take yesterday off too because I could barely breathe. Think I'm feeling good enough to get on the bike for a while today, though- and I have extra time because of the snow day. When you're sick, when do you train through it and when do you take a day off? I went easy because I can't afford to get really sick now, but I was wondering if I was being a big baby.

If you have fever or chills you shouldn't exercise. Although I have but that was because I was in denial. A little head cold or congestion is ok.

Things you can do to prevent getting sick is sleep and recovery!!! nutrition is huge!!!! wash your hands through out the day!!!

Awesome day to race at Cowtown. Went out with Marcy (dodgersmom), Steve (doughboy) and Beth (bpaul) and we all hadd great races. Overall goal was under 2:30:00 as I've never been in that territory before.
Finished in 2:27:49, which gave an HM PR of 9:29 and a Cowtown HM Course PR of 14:26!

Congrats no your progress!!!!It's always nice to see the hard work come through.
I started the 10k with Brent Poulsen (4th) and Andrew Montes (1st) I fell of them 1.5 miles into and dropped out at 5k mark in 16.38. solid day with the training I did this week. This time last year I did 16.58 and I am sure the week wasn't as hard.

Any advice on a bike computer?  The one I have now keeps freezin up so I am shopping.  Not sure if I should buy one with hr/cadence and speed or just speed/hr or HR.  Since I have another kid on the way I am thinking I should buy one with all 3 to maximize my training time.

If anyone sees any on sale let me know

Hey I don't have any computers on my bike. I just have the Garmin 310xt and it's my first "real" technology gadget for training other than just a timex watch. I would search around though via the internet or check with the local bike shop you are loyal too.

I have also been told the 305 would do the job and both of these escaped me.  I just wish the 310 was not so damn much money.  I may get a 305 and watch the weather when I am on the bike

man, I thought I was cheap. I guess I will get "cheaper" when I have a wife and kids one day...oh but so far away.

If I were to get a computer just for the bike, I would see about going the wireless option...seems like it would be easier to hook-up.

I owe a shout to Lance Vernon, for fixing my zipp 808 the other day. He glued the tubular on for me because my hands weren't strong enough to get the tire around it. I just hope my bike and wheels don't rattle apart on the chip seal in Athens this weekend. Why oh why doesn't he (Jack Wiess, race director)  change the bike course there are better options out there.

I have the forerunner 305 I bought off ebay and it works great. It has the cadence and speed sensor for the bike and I can use it in run training as well.  I never new how far or pace I was running so an added benefit. I don't think it would be much more than a speed, cadence, and heart rate bike computer and you get the benefit of the run training also. I have heard the 2.4ghz wireless is the way to go if you go with a wireless bike computer. It will have less interference than the other frequency ones.

It says the 305 is water proof ( to maybe 3 meters or so) just don't swim in it, so I hope a little rain won't hurt it.  Good luck shopping.

Me and Lance are gearing up for the Athens Triathlon this weekend. There is gonna be some fast comp there.

Lance is gonna be on new blackwell race wheels that are about 20 pounds lighter and more aero than his training set.

Who else is racing?

Lance rocked! He swam well, biked strong, and ran great! He was 5th in his AG 45-49 he beat a ton of guys. I on other hand finished the race, and kept the faith. It can only get better for me once again, I had technical difficulties, my rear brake was rubbing my wheel, however, managed a 22.7mph, but, then my run wasn't worth much. Oh well finished 7th OA and 2nd AG. There were some fast dudes out there. Look up the results on run-far.com and Athens Triathlon.

Kahne also won her age group too with the new John Cobb wing span helmet of Rudy Projects!!!

(John Cobb competed as well

Congrats to Kahne and Lance for great race at Athens yesterday in a highly competitive field. It was  a small race but the racers were there. My alma mater UT Tyler beat Texas A&M college team too and A&M brought 75 people.

Looks like everyone did good.

I can not wait to race this year.  I am looking at buying a quintana roo seduza when I get back from spring break.  Then I plan on riding the tires off this summer and not looking back.  I have big goals for ironstar this year.

Congratulations Lance and Kahne! Give yourselves a big pat on the back. William- tough break again! Can only get easier, right?

Not to steal anyone's thunder, but today I was elected to be an editor of law review (the legal journal I'm on at school). I got one of the less time-consuming positions (which I wanted), so I can continue to do this. Yay :)
