Okay , tri people....what would you do if your pool was CLOSED ALL WEEK as mine now is? Concentrate on upper body strength and do more bikes? More runs? HELP ME - I AM PANICKING!

This is obviously NOT going to help the team.  I'M SORRY! I will swim extra when it opens, I swear.  But in the mean time, how would you train if this happened to you?

The first thing I would look at, what is the other weekest of the three you have, and then try to concentrate on that sport until the pool opens. Have they mentioned if it would be just one week, or is their a potential for more than 1 week. I've ran into that, then had to travel to another pool in town to continue my swimming as the one week ended up being three weeks.  As for your swimming, we can adjust your goal if the pool does not happen as you are doing really well. DOO1 is this ok with you as per other captains.

If needed, check this link to see if you find another pool near you. www.swimmersguide.com  Hope this link helps you. Good luck

That stinks that it's closed.  My pool hasn't closed on me yet *knock on wood*, but when I was negelcting my swim, as someone else mentioned, I did whatever else I could.  I picked up a few extra miles on the bike and running.  Did some extra weights, etc...  I feel for you, though!  I'm sure it's a lot different when you can't swim vs neglecting the swim.

Go here for some strength training for swimming. this may help keep you in swimming form without being in the pool.

No longer under 34% here  -- I swam 1800 yds this morning which puts me at 43%.  I'll be swimming again Weds and Fri or Sat, so I expect to stay at or above target through the week.

Keep up the great swimming, rocks!

I have a swim scheduled tonight.  I was out of town over the weekend without access to a pool (and without internet access for much of the time, as I mentioned... I'm not sure which was worse ).

I would probably say the pool is the worst.  Oh yeah, forgot to mention this. I need to borrow the whip to flog you!! Have a great week, and be looking to see your logs go back up. Happy training.

Great job, and keep it coming. Your swimming by know must be kicking some butt in the pool.  Have a great week, and Happy Training.

Swimming 'til I drop tonight. Going to spend the rest of February and 1st half of March focused almost exclusively on swimming at the gym during the week. If this doesn't make it any better lessons here I come!

  • .. I just updatted the sheet this morning, and since I really need to push myself, I've upgraded from 60000 to 75000 for this month "if that is OK with our moderator and everyone else". I need to really concentrate on my swimming, and need to drop my time down to 1:10's or so for the IM in Nov....

  • Pretty soon, you'll be doing 1-on-1 challenges with OceanAnnie. (Wonder if she's trying for another 100,000 yards this month.)

Yes, you may raise your goal. Raising goals is ALWAYS allowed. (For the challenges that I organize, at least.)

    Aquinn -

Pool closings are one of those things that we can't control. So yes, if the pool closure impacts your ability to swim, then we can adjust your goal for the month.

Jeez Hans, I was just thinking that I actually have a shot at doing 100k for the entire year this year, 150k if I get serious about it!!!

Don't forget to SWIM lots this month! Otherwise, you may be sporting an avatar like this one next month! (Yes, I know you're in first place -- but the month is still young!)

I logged another 1350 meters in the ce-ment pond this evening.

no need to change my goal yet (though I offer my thanks) as I think with just 3 more swims of the length I ave been doing, I can reach the goal. Pool doesn't actually close till Wednesday through Monday- but I usually swim W, Sat, Sun. MIGHT be able to sneak in a swim tomorrow - not sure yet- depends on if I ski (day off for my fine friend Honest Abe's Birthday) or if I actually do go into office out of sheer horror/guilt at the amount of projects on my desk. regardless, i'm breakin' in my new garmin tomorrow!!!! I agree with Mila, but we do need that list I posted to make sure they all catch up.

It is not how we started the race that counts, but how we FINISH the race. We started strong, and I sure hope that our team will finish strong, and I have faith in you all.

Please don't forget to INSPIRE the team, as that's one way that will help. Happy training, and go for it.

Dee, don't tempt me, I was thinking about upping to 100K for this month, but I may be traveling, so I didn't. Only if I have something in for the 100K.

Got in 1250M last night which brings me up to 44% of my goal. Hope to swim the same amount tonight weather permitting. I must be getting a littl e better at this swimming thing as that's the most I've ever gone in one session and no shoulder pain!
