Champion 7546 Santa Cruz, California | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors lyssa-gator - 2008-03-06 7:49 PM LOL i don't even know what any of that means!! well, dh said perhaps we'd go down to oregon so we don't have to pay sales tax. he likes giant, i saw a cannondale that i super liked (no idea what it was, just saw a guy riding it, and thought-yeah, that's looking super good!!-nothing WHATSOEVER about the rider!!LOL) it'll probably be a while, since we're trying to move and all, so i'm going to have to make due at least for another month, which means getting my arse on my mt bike. (which TOTALLY makes my arse look big lynne, just wait'll you see!!) so i'm heading up to seattle tomorrow to see my sister (dh has a confrence, so i'm staying at my sisters house while he's there) maybe i'll make a run to speedy reedy, or bikes west or whatever, just to look around, and oogle stuff!! LOL any other great stores i should hit?? maybe REI? something like that, i'm up for anything. now i gotta get me a drink of irish cream (after i get the kiddies to bed-well, after DH gets the kiddies to bed LOL) then cuddle up with dh and watch a movie. (or wrestle, or have a vs modeling show, you know, or whatever LOL) ETA-well GREAT!!! now i can NEVER post again!! or i'm going to lose ALL my pretty stars!!! oh MAN!!! My DH has a Giant OCR sumpin sumpin and he loves it! he is now riding his road bike to work instead of his mtn bike....I can not believe that I converted him. Cannondales are nice bikes...you just need to go test ride a BUNCH of bikes and do not just jump at the first one you ride...it is easy to do!!! but go to a bunch of different shops. Specialize has some nice bikes...you can find some nice used bikes too...Felt, Cervelo...make sure if it is used you either know them or you have someone check the frame for any damage or cracks or tweaks from wrecking. Components...OMG we can go on for weeks....go online and look at some of the review links...there are lot if you need me to send you a link I can. If I were you and you plan on doing a lot of hill/mtn climbing (we know you live in that high altitude wild animal kingdom) make sure to get a three ring bike so you have more gears for those really steep climbs....ok that is all I can think of for now...hope this makes sense, I have had a few margaritas at a friends who had us for dinner and they were rather POTENT! remember to not jump at buying the first bike you ride...and talk the bike shop down...the prices are never firm....and if he wont go down...on the bike tell him you want a bunch of goodies thrown in like water bottle cage, pump, seat pack, tubes....ok now I will shut up and go to bed! Nite! |

Master 1688 ALSAGER, CHESHIRE. UK | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors Well folks that just taken me over an hour to catch up. Boobies (wish I had a smilie for those two), house fires, hairdo's etc. Excellent, excellent stuff from Cat about the bike & G.P.O.L about sizing's. It's mindblowing stuff when you start out. Sorry CHR15, I've got Sora on my winter bike. I agree with Cat, 105 minimum (lyssa, she's on about a Shimano set of components as opposed to the other manufacturers Campagnolo & Sram). It'll last longer. As with most things the more you pay the better quality you get. (That's what the Bishop said to the actress , anyway! ) Personally I would recommend getting one made up with the components you want e.g. frame, wheels, groupset(mechanical bits) but unless you know what you want getting a ready to ride bike is the way to go. Triple? For very steep climbing, I started on one & needed it around here. If I may put my penny's worth in, get carbon forks, the frame will probably be aluminium. Why? It is a smoother ride, absorbs the shocks. I almost upgraded to a Giant. How about this LADIES version SCR1.0 (American model may have a different name) 06/07 model? Sale price in UK £550 =$ 1,110. Bet your prices are lower than ours, right CHR15? BTW another 2h 22m done yesterday. Did four hills this time. Hard workout! Now don't you lot try upping my challenge figures will you! Anyone else going to put some riding pics on here?

You calling me a luddite??? Do you ming what I call you? As long as I call you.... Cat, wasn't Ming in Flash Gordon? Your two keys away from the 'd'. I changed some of the letters on someones keyboard at work once. Hillarious to watch their face as they were pressing them and reading what was coming out on the screen.

NOW i'm excited! i think it's awesome! also, seems like there was something else i was going to say, but i got all excited about the javelin thing, so it's all gone now. ooh!! something shiney!! *runs away* hey....I am going to apply too! we can have our northern pacific girly team! YAY~ oh, plus CHR15 of course...!
Woo hoo... now there is a team I want to be part of... Just if you could put a bit of pressure on from that side of the pond for them to send the sizing info for the new green suit... so I can buy one. As I am still running the old erm... threadbare orange one from three seasons ago, I daren't wear it any more, it's getting indecent! now why would I want to have them give you a new one when there is a chance of us Peeps getting a peep! just kidding! will do all we can! and when you asked me what kiu in my inspire....means Keep it up! so kiu! you are doing great....keep on riding that bike my brittish peep |

Pro 4343 Olney, MD | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors I can't believe how chatty you all get in the middle of my night! Shimano components: the lowest I'd recommend going is Tiagra, but I'd try for 105 in a starter bike. It's good, solid quality. Stay away from Sora if at all possible, certainly not in the rear derrailluer. If it hasn't been said, bike sizes represent the distance from the center of the bottom bracket to the center of the top tube. It relates most to your leg length. The next most important measurement is reach, the distance from the seat to the handle bar and hoods. This is determined by top tube length, stem length, and handle bar reach. The important thing is to go to a bike shop who is willing to work with you and give you the proper attention and time and to them ride lots of different bikes that are in your price range. Hopefully you'll get on one and just know that it's The One, the one that just feels right. It's the one you'll love and love riding. Bike love is a beautiful thing! |

Pro 4343 Olney, MD | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors Tomorrow is supposed to be my long bike riding day of the week. MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors Julie, do you ever sleep? Morning Jousters. It will be several days till I can ride again, unless I play hooky tonight and don't go to book club. 10 hour work day today, 10 hour work day tomorrow and then hopefully ballroom dancing, YEAH!. Sunday start at work and then midday head to the airport to catch a flight to NYC. Go to meeting Monday morning, back to airport, and land in Atlanta in time to go to sleep. So my numbers will look a little low this week, but next week will more than make up for it. I'll be off on Fri and Sat so can get a long ride in each day, and then again next Sunday. |

Master 2235 Pacific Northwest | Subject: RE: Peep Jousters: The Original Peep Warriors CHR15 TREE - 2008-03-07 1:19 AM JK. I think Cat might actually the most perfect woman in the world, Medusa Ann, Dr Leah and Jeng, ooops and i shouldn't forget Sue in that list! excluded of course. Awesome advice on the bike. Wow, I made the short list! I am all warm and tingly inside now. Hee. I don't have time to work on the spreadsheet posting thing........so if I don't get to it my totals so far are 25 miles. I will hit my goal by month's end, no worries. Just won't get on the bike until I am back from Disneyland! We leave tomorrow and I need to get all of us packed today as I am scheduled to work in the morning (very bad timing, as I work approximately once a year....). For the record I have a women's Cannondale Synapse and I really love it. Got it at REI and actually negotiated a lower price on it--never worry about asking for a deal!! |
