Heather, you're going to do great tomorrow! Positive thoughts! Remember, side stroke is ok, and so are nerves. You have trained for this, and you will do just fine. I will be there with you in spirit, call me when the race is over. (But don't text me tonight. J/K, LOL). Call me whenever you want--I'm over here cheering for you already. Mwaaa!

Afternoon, Nibbs.

Heat advisory for the next 5 days here in VA. Bah. Hoping to get an early run tomorrow before Elder Monkey's soccer game late morning, but Sunday is looking like an impossible day. Church in the morning, and then a party scheduled from 2-4...maybe I can hit the gym between church and the party? Because after 4, I'm not going to want to do anything.

BAH.

My new computer is double posting.

I even started 2 threads over in the VA board...one by accident.

I'm slowing gaining on the poster in front of me...was 90 posts ahead...now 50.

Isn't the whole east coast having high heat over the next several days?

ginger ale or flat coke always work well for me.

swedish fish always seem like a good idea, but they make it worse.  how about some saltine crackers?

I'm going to have to get up really early for the ride tomorrow.  That's ok, though.  That means I should make it to the farmer's market before all the organic eggs are gone.

Now that I'm talking to myself, I'm going to rant.

In January, I had a meeting with my PhD committee (ultimately, they decide if I get my degree).  We decided I would do the first part of my qualifying exams (writtens) in June.  In April, my adviser and I talked about it, picked a date, etc.  Then, he asked me to send him a list of the categories we decided on and the email addresses for my committee so he could ask for them to write questions.

Fast forward to this week.  I'm supposed to start on Monday (6/9).  I mentioned it to him last week before he left for San Diego to run.  He ignored me.  I mentioned it Tuesday when he got back and he said something like "guess I should write your questions."  I talked to him today about logistics of how it works and he asks "did you get all your questions".  Uh...no that's YOUR job.  We went over the conversation again and he realized he completely f'ed up and has to get questions from people.  I am not taking them next week.  I've been pysching myself up for this for 2 weeks.

I'm so upset I want to cry.  Or smoke or drink or something.

Yeah, some of the people in my lab offered.  Doesn't feel like it would help.

How far are you riding tomorrow?  I'm looking at about 25(?).  I have a few routes leaving from West Creek if you're interested.

OMG!!!  And they wonder sometimes why students lose it... between stress and incompetant faculty, what can be expected????

Mine isn't so bad... but I can relate for my MS... took finals early in May to head to North Slope for intern position w/ BP...  Checked in with dept head before leaving to make sure everything was inline for my defense when I got back (Labor Day weekend)  I called before I left Alaska to set date and they told me that I would have to register for fall semester to do my defense b/c summer was over...  They wanted me to pay twice!!!!

Bottomline - it all worked out in the end and I didn't pay...  that was ten yrs ago, I've gotten over it...

I'd take Judi up on the ride and work it out of your system... you'll be fine... just don't go purchase any firearms tomorrow.

Cool.  I need 2 hours, so that will work out well.

Let's figure out a time at the swim tonight.
