Extreme Veteran 744![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ontario | Subject: RE: Whirlpool Steelhead 70.3 TriathlonIt looks like I will be there earlier on Friday than planned, and probably without my family. My wife sent her passport off to get a visa for another trip, and it has not been returned yet, so she won't be able to cross the border. Is this still the schedule: Swim at Jean Clock Park - 10:00 - 11:00 Also is that dinner at the expo or dinner in town? |

Ok, I knew that the Steelhead pasta dinner was at the College, I just wanted to make sure that the BT crowd was not planning on eating somewhere else. Freshjive and I just made plans to be at the expo at 2:00 for packet pickup and the 2:00 course talk, and then we will head over to the race site. We will be on the lookout for BTers at the expo around 2:00. |

The current is south to north and it's pretty windy with pretty small waves, but some whitecaps. The wind is off the lake and the waves will pick up if it stays this was. One another note, the water should be warm. . . |

If so, are we able to get into the park tomorrow? I have a feeling it might be closed,as theyre preparing. Curt |

Is this still the schedule: Swim at Jean Clock Park - 10:00 - 11:00 Also is that dinner at the expo or dinner in town? This is the schedule. I may not make it in time for the swim, but I know others are. For dinner - I called a couple of places that were recommended to me, and they don't take reservations. They also can't handle large groups. So, I figure we can meet at the expo and talk about dinner plans there. I'm pretty much open to anything. If anyone has any ideas of where to go let us know. My fallback is to eat at the expo. Last call for cell numbers if you want to be notified of exact details of any of these meetups. I'll send the list by text tonight. Can't wait any longer. This has been the longest week of my life. See everyone tomorrow. -Brad |

I must ask: Whats the baby shampoo for? I dont think the beach goers would enjoy if I bathed in the lake after the triathlon. Thanks |

My fallback is to eat at the expo. The last 3 years we ate at the Pump House Grille the night before the race, 214 State Street St. Joseph, 269-083-0001. The food was pretty good and it is a large restaurant that seemed to cater to groups. There was a large birthday party there one year, which I remember because our kids scored some birthday cake. It's in a nice neighborhood with some other restaurants just behind the Silver Beach Hotel. This is just across the bridge as you drive the 2 miles from the race site into St. Jo. Some of the locals may have better suggestions. I'm also fine with the expo. Perhaps meeting in town for food and beer would work better on Saturday evening for those of us who are still mobile. |

I've used toothpaste in mine, but never shampoo. The toothpaste is a scuba diving trick. |

A Sharpie is a very good idea. Your body marking is pretty smudgy by Saturday. And if you have time to kill in transition you can offer to use it on some attractive triathletes. I always thought that body marking would be the ideal volunteer job at a tri. That or applying sunscreen. I think I'm getting giddy, better get back to packing. Edited by DaveH 2009-07-30 6:22 PM |

I'm going to Walmart, right this moment to get a new stock of Sharpies. Plus I will get there extra early to offer my services. ha ha.... Curt |

I didn't swim - I'm planning an early morning pre-breakfast swim. There was a current - but I've been swimming in some pretty rough water in Erie. I'll be wearing blue tomorrow. Do we have somewhere we want to meet? I'm going to the pasta dinner tomorrow with the BF. |

I rode it without my gloves and barely felt any discomfort in my hands. Edited by jtaddei 2009-07-30 9:13 PM |
