Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() No mulligan for me today. It was hard looking at all the tastey Christmas cookies that are huge part of family tradition but not worth it...need to save my mulligan. Thank goodness for fruit. Merry Christmas everyone! |

![]() LeahDD - 2008-12-25 12:42 AM I need a ruling. A couple times a month I will do a long run on Saturday and end up at this little restaurant. My guy meets me there and we order the multigrain pancakes and an omelette. We each eat a quarter of the pancakes and omelette and then take the other half home to have on Sunday. Now, I am pretty sure that the Saturday breakfast is OK because that is part of an established training routine, but what about Sunday? Actually, that is part of the same established training routine, but does not necessarily (but it might) come within an hour of a workout. Would having the pancakes on Sunday be OK if I made sure to get my run in before breakfast? Otherwise, I am amazed to find that I have been able to ignore the candy and cookies and such - the same candy and cookies that last week I was stuffing in my face as quickly as possible. I am a black and white kind of person - I deal better with no cookies than one cookie. Pretty sad. Nevertheless, I suspect that I will be taking my holiday pass tomorrow. My son's fancy breakfast might include forbidden foods, but it won't happen until 10am. At 7am will be blueberry scones as cooked by me - from a mix and I already checked and sugar is ingredient number 2. I don't know if I can avoid a scone because I don't know what other food would be available and I might not be able to wait until 10am for breakfast. So, I am prepared to use my holiday pass tomorrow. I am hoping not, but am resigned Pancakes are a thumbs up. Scones are a ding cause sugar is the 2nd ingredient. |

![]() Merry Christmas everyone. I'm working on my third day with stomach cramps and a headache. Fun fun. My niece has a stomach bug too, so Christmas was semi-cancelled in my family The combo of stomach bug and sugar detox is making life pretty . I hope this will all be worth it in the end. Anyone else have these God-awful headaches? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Killer day, but no mulligan needed!!! Just drank red wine and water. Dessert was real hard to resist. Nothing but sugar laden goodies, with chocolate cheese cake to die for. The real hard part was there was NO FRUIT! Just had coffee with milk. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I used my mulligan for the scone. It was tasty, but not tasty enough to have wasted my free pass on and I am kinda bummed about that. But, I planned to have the scone so it wasn't like it was accidental or I just couldn't resist. Just a wake-up call about sugar and what is necessary and what isn't. The only birthday in my family between now and February 28 is my fella and that will be New Year's Day. So, I will have my birthday cake exception next week and then two very long months until February 28. But I figure I will lose the twenty pounds I would like to lose and it will all be worth it. Hope everyone's Christmas was merry. Leah |

Dessert was real hard to resist. Nothing but sugar laden goodies, with chocolate cheese cake to die for. The real hard part was there was NO FRUIT! Just had coffee with milk. Just an idea I'd share, when I go anywhere, to my kids soccer games, long car trip, out to eat and even to other folks houses and we are going to eat, I bring food with me I know I can eat. It may be a few pieces of fruit, or a salad or lean protein. I always carry a small container of salad dressing as it is a way to control fat calories as most restaurants pour on the dressing so you could easily have 300 calories in dressing. My husband won a cruise for work, and we sat at the Presidents table first night and brought out my salad dressing in my small container. My desire to eat healthy supersedes being embarrassed. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I almost broke and took my mulligan early ( am saving it for the 27th). we had these great looking pasteries left over from brunch, went to get what I thought was the last one and luckily hubby ate it! phew! yesterday was hard - major headache around 2 to 4 in the afternoon. Someone posted earlier that it feels cheating when she has a protein shake/bar ( or whatever) after training. I have to agree. I only have them after I lift about 3 x a week and this morning I went to the YMCA and actually took my protein bar in the car with me so I could have it as soon as I got out. I was almost giddy! have a great day! Liz |

There is no way I am getting on the scale until Monday. I ate way tooooo much yesterday. Now, I have to go and put an x on the spreadsheet. |

Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This is torture!!! I couldn't even eat the Stove Top Stuffing yesterday. High Fructose Corn Syrup is the #2 ingredient! Who would have thought? Its a good thing there are no candy bars or cookies in sight right now. |

How is it possible that I gained 3 pounds in ONE day? I would think maybe water retention. I am not going to weigh myself until Monday now. |

High Fructose Corn Syrup is the #2 ingredient! Who would have thought? Its a good thing there are no candy bars or cookies in sight right now. This is why I am happy that my family tends to make the "special meal" foods from scratch. I knew exactly what ingredients were in each item. My problem yesterday was that I ate way too much of those foods. |

I am not going to weigh myself until Monday now. I tend to way more after I work out and after a big meal. My body usually adjusts within a couple of days from the big meal weight gain. |

Anyone else have these God-awful headaches? At least you have a stomach bug, which I believe is the fastest way to lose weight. :-) My head cold that I thought was pretty much gone on Thursday is back in full force. I'm finding that it is harder to resist temptation when I am sick. I hope you start to feel better soon! |

Granted, they were the kroger bagels in a bag of six, not yummy deli bagels!

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I was up 1 lbs this morning from the 25th, but I was down 2lbs on the 25th from the day before. I am calling it leveling :-) Good to be back in the gym today though. Only down officially 1lb from start weight, but I reported early, and weighed in up 2 at true start. I would not worry to much about early fluctuations. Lets a ll take a look at week 3 or so and see how everyone is doing. I am impressed with everyone that resisted yesterday, unfortuantely the glass of Champagne and Rioja made the cookies to irresistable. lol Funny, how that works. Family was semi supportive. As my mom got inebriated the pressure got ramped up. I manage to avoid the egg nog and rum and cake though, so a minor victory only mulligan gone no ding. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() A little story from my blog today, thought I would share......Did some shopping today, wound up with a few things. I got really hungry at the shopping center, almost mugged a pregnant lady for her banana and I haven't eaten bananas since IMKY! The shopping center no longer has a real food court, just Starbucks, Cheesecake Factory and Boudins......so I left the mall so I could find something healthy and sugar-free to eat!! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() After much, MUCH deliberation (with myself,) I decided that none of the sweets at either of my family xmas parties was worth losing my freebie...
This is the third day in a row that I've had a headache; mine's not really bad, just annoying.
Weird - the main thing I've missed is the mindless consumption of peppermint Altoids! Oh, yeah, and the specialty lattes that my husband, son, and daughter enjoyed in my presence today...they smelled really good! |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ding Ding Ding I have struggle right off the bat with this one. One more really tough day tomorrow as it will be all day at the inlaws and the food selection available will not be very condusive to healthy eating. I guess I can eat before and then go most of the day without partaking in anything there. It will be a brunch style with tons of pastries, desserts, rolls and all around delicious bad for me food. |

Very impressive Kathy, I need to get to that point where it becomes so important to me that I will stop making excuses for myself. I know it can happen I just have to want it bad enough. |
