I do think the one time I swam it was probably high 60's- that time it had rained the night before and I think they let some COLD water out from the dam. But that was the only time I swam where I noticed it was REALLY COLD. I wear a sleeveless when I swim in the river and at first it feels really cold. But then I'm pretty comfrtable once I get started and I'm fine. My only problem is when I get out the water and take off my wetsuit- I get goose bumps and get hungry and cold. But then once I get biking and warmed up I'm ok. Okay. Doesn't sound too bad. I have a long-sleeved wet suit. Maybe that's why I don't get quite so hungry? |

Andrew, I'm going to ride 2 1/2 hours Saturday after the swim and would like to get another swim in Sunday as well. If you want we can meet and swim up river and back down Sunday. Pencil me in for the swim and ride. My workout that day is a 40 minute swim and a 90 minute ride, so a swim up river and down would fit in. Trouble is that I woke up with a head cold yesterday, so if it is still with me Saturday morning, I will skip it and may be there Sunday. Anyway, meeting at the Boathouse, right?Pencil me in for the swim and ride. My workout that day is a 40 minute swim and a 90 minute ride, so a swim up river and down would fit in. Master 1402 Cumming, Georgia | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Augusta : Official Thread Hopefully the weather holds out on us. I feel like I am fighting off a cold myself and it sucks being this clsoe to the race. I asked an employee to please go home because he was sick and I didn't want it but it looks like he may have passed it on to me anyways. |

Hit the home remedies hard- green tea, lots of sleep, drink a lot of water, and do some sinus flushes- that combo always seems to help me and decrease the duration of it. Luckily I caught a cold a few weeks ago so I'm hoping that means I'm exempt for awhile |

C, and eat some chicken noodle soup... good luck... |

Extreme Veteran 494 Augusta, GA | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Augusta : Official Thread Wow, lots of love going out to csharp about his possible cold and I definitely have one, but no one is sharing the love with me! As if the e coli sewage trouble is not enough, here is a pic of a gator that hangs around the section of river in which we have been training. It appears to be a 4 or 5 footer and is one of a few that my friends have spotted. I have two friends that live on the river and their houses are the first and second on the left down river one you pass the highway 1 overpass. For sure, but it spooks easy. We tried to approach it one evening and it was quick to get in the river before we got close. It would be nice to get a tow from it, though. |

I plan on riding all or part of tri bike course afterwards, so I will have my bike stuff with me. Some of us are getting ride up to the 5th street marina start from row house and plan on swimming by 6:40. I think Tom Crute and his gang were already doing the course, probably with same boat escorts. If anyone interested let me know or just show up; either at start or row house. Others more than welcome to bike with me and or others. Let me know if you can bike with me after. Thanks.
PS. Donations for the Rowing Club would probably be appreciated for their efforts.
Arnold Sounds good- I'll probably meet ya'll at the swim start. I'm rouding up a few other of my training partners as well A good friend of mine, Arnold Barrett aka Rusty Ironman ([email protected]) wishes everyone a good race in Augusta. He hopes that most of his posts (all of which were his) were helpful to some beginner triathletes. As a friend, I am relaying this message. |
