I just want to know why the laws of physics never seem to apply where i ride...when I ride out the wind is directly in my face and when I hit my turn aorund point the wind is....directly in my face???  What THE?!?!?  I am not fast enough to blame it on speed lol

The winds in Central Florida the past 2 weeks have not been great either 15-25 mile per hour gusts I felt like was wind surfing my bike. running has been no fun either.

Guys...things will settle down. The last 2 yrs. the temps will climb thru May and the wind will be on and off.
The last 2 yrs you got a little "biting" headwind @ around mile 40-45, once you turn on 535/534?
Its enough to drop you from 19-22mph to 15-17 and raise the HR 15-20bpm.
You gota pull back to save the legs for the "African Grassland" run.
TRUST me, drink drink drink on the bike. Even if you have to stop and pee out of T2. You'll need the hydration for the sun filled run.
Maybe you'll get lucky and have rain showers and clouds that afternoon.

i have been training in the pacific northwest and there are plenty of hills and a LOT of wind. FL will definitely be flatter, hopefully the wind will be at our backs....not sure how im gonna adapt to the FL heat, hopefully a few days is enough to adjust.

this is my first tri, long story, and all i want is to finish.

Isn't it amazing how countdowns always make your stomach flutter a little bit?

That being said, I'm getting very excited!

Hello ALL.  Tony from Indiana making an update.  I've come off a good run week with improving times.  My bike is trying to fight me, it seems.  Have any you felt that you have that week on the bike where the seat feels all wrong and gearing just isn't fitting..??!!..  Just one of those weeks.  Swimming is feeling good however.  I'm doing 2500m in 46:00 in a 25m pool, so I'm feeling good with that.
I'm going to use some products from Hammer Nutrition; Gel, Endurolyre Tabs, Sustained Energy.  Been working with all of them during training and they are working with my system very well.  Sustained Energy powder has no flavor and I mix it in a 24oz with CytoMax and it will get me 300cal and 73 carbs with some protein while on the bike.  I'll use gels and Cytomax to balance the average calories per hour.  Figure I'll be using a fare amount of Endurolyte tabs by the time I get to the run.  Think I'll also look for the spunges at the 1st water station and put them under my race hat, and armpits...
Keep it up guys, we Will Do This....

Rode the hills in Clermont today.  The wind around here is nothing.  Today I did 62 miles and the wind was less than 2 MPH.  We rode the hills in Clermont.  I did do a 13.5 mile run starting at noon yesterday.  My shoulders and back go burnt.  The temps are climbing however the humidity is the real killer here.  So far it has gotten progressively worse but not unbearable yet.  I plan on doing the rest of my long runs in the next couple weeks in the mid day to plan for the run.  I had posted a message that we are going to swim at Lucky's lake on the Thursday before the race.  It is a 1K swim across the lake and back.  Do it twice and it is the full half ironman swim.  I had a couple of takers.  If anyone is interested let me know. I live here in Orlando and I am off that week.  If you are coming in early in the week and you would like to do an easy ride or run I would love to run with other people on this forum.

Good Luck,
Brian

AwesomeFrown  I just ran a 50 miler this weekend in 80 degree heat and it was tougher then I was expecting.  After taking the winter off it is hard to get the stomach accepting nutrition while pushing hard in the heat.  However, that is one of the reason's I picked this race was to prepare for a possibly hot day at IMWI this year so......BRING IT!!!!

Livestrong191...
Look into the Comfort Suites Main Gate West off 192..

http://www.comfortsuites.com/hotel-kissimmee-florida-FL550

Stayed their last four year for Disney Oly and Fla 70.3. Great place, 10min to parking lot @ Disney. In a plaza with a Winn Dixie Market place, Carrabbas, Crackle Barrell, Fridays, Outback.
Publix right down the street.
Left my room race morning @ 4:30 and was standing by my bike @ 4:55...real quick to get over to Disney.
Part of the bike course goes right past it on 192.
Good pool to get in some morning swimming before the kids show up.
Rooms have wifi, frig, coffee, micro.
Call directly

I did my first Olympic last weekend at Rumpus in Bumpass, it was great, but harder than I expected.  I am more nervous about this race and think I may have taken on too much too soon, this is my first tri season, but I now have a sprint and olympic under my belt.  With that said, I am still excited about the prospect of completing a HIM, it now comes down to setting my swim and bike paces well so I can survive the African jungle run!

Any tips from you veterans for a newbie?

Hope everyone is doing well with training.  I have a swim/bike brick this weekend.  What is everyone else doing?
