Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge 13 mile run for me today puts me at 99 miles for the month. I was tempted to put on some warmer clothes, but just wearing black and putting on gloves was good enough. It looks like taking that run day off helped as my run today was faster pace than the previous 4 long runs that had been getting progresively slower. A good sign that it is time to take a day off and recoup. I have a few muscles that are starting to recover also... may have sidestepped an injury there phew. Pretty close to 100 percent now. It looks like I will have to raise my running goal for the month. I will wait untill I recover from next week's race and then see where I am at. Yay for first place and long runs, keep going team. |

Expert 1007 Hattiesburg, Mississippi | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge I am finally back up for air after my super busy weekend with the iron pour. Between the hard physical work, the late night partying and cleanup first thing Sunday morning, I spend most of the afternoon on the couch, nursing a headache and napping. It was great! (Although I could have done with out the headache!) This morning I am off for a short run, maybe at tempo. I'll check back later. |

Master 4119 Toronto | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Good morning all! Great job!!! Still holding #1!! That's awesome. Personally, I feel a bit behind on the challenge. This weekend I missed a swim and a bike. It was busy and pretty unrealistic to expect anything to get done. It's the off-season - no pressure, right? But! I am back on track. The swim can be made up this week as can the bike. :D Already got a nice swim in this morning and will bike tonight. Looking busy already but what's to be done about that! I did bake about 12 dozen s'mores cookies and go to a cookie exchange yesterday! mmmmmm |

Expert 1007 Hattiesburg, Mississippi | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Pretty much finished my run challenge. I don't know why I always underestimate. I should have just added up the numbers from my training plan and went with that. I guess I could add on some more miles to the challeneg... Need to get in some more swims to make sure I don't fall short in that area. |

Master 1641 Seattle, California | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge So I haven't been around much. Figured I would take a bit of a mental break from the sport while I was injured and recharge my mind a bit as well. Everything feels good on my end though and I think I'm going to get back to normal training this week. I went for a short run yesterday and everything felt fine. I'm going for 4k tonight and hopefully that feels good as well. If any of the pain returns I'll pull back but I think I've given my calf the rest it needs to ease back into training. I revised my goal downward to reflect the down time I'm had due to the injury. |

But if you need to focus on the swim that's great too! Oh and glad to hear your weekend was good. And that you got some rest time too. That's much needed. |

Regular 60 | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Hi people, It's been awhile since I checked in. I'm plugging along. I managed to log a few more sessions recently, so I just added those to the spreadsheet. I plan on hitting the pool tonight after work too, so that percentage should be going up as well. If you guys want some high-BPM music for training, I've really been digging DI (dot) FM lately. I usually stick with their hard dance personally, though if you want to go completely batshit, try some of the Drum and Bass. LOL Take care all. Riley |

Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Outstanding workouts everyone! I am going to use up my free day of the Gold's Gym . Its should be a good session as i am full of energy today . Its really good to target those areas that are needed for triathlon . My back (bike) hips (run) triceps (swim and bike ) get tired on long training sessions . So will be targeting Lower back core strength , back arm strength , pull ups . Dips , crunches, torso twist etc . I did not pencil in strenght sessions for the month but am taking advantage of the opportunity . I will continue this work a different gym which has a pay as you go system ($2.50/ session) . Will Probably do a run before as cardio . |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge OMG, rough workout today. First tempo run since I recalculated my paces using Jack Daniel's Vdot formula. Definately doable, but I was working, probably about a RPE of 7 to 8. Anyways, here's what it looked like (fairly flat, road coarse): mile 1 (warm @ e/l pace): 8:16 start tempo (threshold pace @ 6:52): mile 2: 6:45; HR 159 mile 3: 6:57; HR 157 mile 4: 6:49; HR 163 mile 5: 6:48; HR 166 mile 6: 6:55; HR 168 mile 7: 6:49; HR 168 end tempo mile 8 (cool @ e/l pace): 8:33 Has anyone else used the Vdot to establish pace times? If so, curious about your experience, opinions, etc. I'm planning on using these paces until I get in to do my VO2 max test. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Good paces on the temp's. What is your LT heart rate for the run and what recovery time did you have between miles if any? It looks like your run has improved massively since this summer. |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge The workout was straight tempo, so no rest. 1 mile warm/cool with six miles at threshold pace at 6:52. Until I do a true metabolic test for my LT (VO2max), my field test is showing a heart rate of 163 for LT. Edited by brick94513 2009-11-16 10:18 PM |

I've really been focusing on run improvement. I've done alot of reading and research on this discipline lately. Unlike swimming, it's nice to put in the hours and witness the results first hand. Not to mention, my hours are escaltating rapidly as I prepare for marathon running. Thanks for noticing the improvement. So nice to have the logs on BT. It's pretty neat to go back and see how far you have come! |

Master 4119 Toronto | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Good morning team! How goes it? I am up and trying to leave early for work as i have a dr's appt late in the day and I know it will be a busy one at work ... the plan for today is a run and some strength. It's fun because my fiance is back into training again so we were doing side by side trainer riding again! heh! |

Smoking either way. I agree, I think what I'm currently using as my LTHR is too low. I highly doubt that I was running in 5b for thirteen minutes! I just haven't had much luck with establishing this HR via field tests. It will be interesting to see how far I'm off once I get the metabolic test done. |

Regular 60 | Subject: RE: Team Fall-dippides - November Challenge Hey folks, I knocked out another two sessions in the pool last night. Not as consistent on the whole. Felt a little like I was flailing in the water. LOL Thankfully, my shoulder has been fine (touch wood everywhere!) but last night when I was doing my water running, my left knee started to hurt. Thankfully after sleeping, it's been okay this morning. I'm guessing a fair amount of the knee thing is due to carrying too much weight around my middle. I'm hoping that I can see some of that go with time. The plan for tonight is lifting and water running and some more swimming. Woo! Ri P.S.
