You can park on the side streets off of Broad Street near East Boundry (the entrance to the transition area).  Last year, I parked on 1st street and had no problems getting in or out.

As far as eating options, all the ones listed are good.  I would also add Rooster's Beak (on the corner or Ellis and 10th), The Pizza Joint and Mellow Mushroom.  There are also several places on Walton Way near the hospitals.

One advantage of starting so late (8:58am) for the Slayer is that there are more souls to steal on the bike and run. May I suggest you all figure the way to get your best COMBINED splits, not just swim, bike, OR run. If not, you may see the grim reaper pass you.

Ive gotten passed by the Slayer before, all though he took it easy on me because I let me crash the night before...lol
9:02am start here, second to last wave. I'll have to pull a Slayer and pick people off on the bike and run...lol

GAdaved....no Bags, you just set things up @ your bike like every other Tri. SN bags are for full distance IM only.

I don't want to get slayed but there's a good chance I will even with the hour head start.

Same wave,
Cube, do you think there is going to be an issue with fluids supply on the run for our wave???

BOXER.... I hope not. otherwise we all screwed on the run as I live off the aid stations. I'll start out with a few gels and salt caps, but need fluids throughout....fingers crossed.
Last year was fine, so dont forsee a problem.

LOL, thanks phtknot! I know that triathlets are some of the most wonderful people on the world but also rank at the top of most intense!!!! Not too worried though, this time I want to execute my plan regardless of what others are trying to do. I'll be thinking a lot about pacing and not competition. That's one positive thing about being on the last wave; not that many people overtaking me!!!!
Wish you an AWESOME race, I know how hard you've been working and I know this is just your tune-up for IMFL!!! That's my goal for next year. I just hope I can get in. Was it easy for you to register????? Any tips?

CUBE.. thanks a lot, that's good news. Running out of water would be kiss of death for me!!!! and I guess anybody else.
I'll be tomorrow in Augusta at the courthouse. Hey, no worries, I'm not in trouble. It is actually one of the biggest days in my life. Tomorrow I'll become a US Citizen!! What better way to celebrate, finishing my first HIM also in Augusta!

7:54 silver cap again this year. Glad for an early start. I get so keyed up just ready to go. Last year parking by swim start also very near finish was easy. Plus they have buses back and forth. I have my wife drop me in transition in am then caught bus back to start it went smooth. Someone asked about how the swim starts. You walk down on the dock then jump in the water and hang onto the dock. So it is an in water start. Is actually kind of cool, You are up on the levee watching waves before you go. AS you go down the ramp they anouance the wave. My wife said it was really fun to watch. It really had a big event feel. Cant wait to get there.

Augustino's 5pm SAT for us.
They had a great pasta toss last year and we meat Laura and Greg Bennett in line, very cool people.
All looking good here, last HARD effort tomorrow (OLY 24/6 T.T. Brick) and a 1000 for time in the pool on friday, then its more taper for all next week.
Coach taking it easy on me last 2 days, 4mi med run on tuesday and a 18mi easy/med bike today setting me up for the brick tomorrow.
Temps have been cool in the mornings (60-63) but warm quickly into the mid-80's by noon. The drop in humidity is the biggest thing, gota love that.
Now sure about the current in the river as I live 3hrs away, but hearing its off a bit over last year.
Cant wait for next week to get here with all the race week hype!!

Hi all. My wife and I read a while back that the nutrition on Ironman courses had been changed to Powerbar Endurance. We have been using it in our training and now the packet we read today states that Gatorade will be used. Anyone know the real scoop? Thanks for all the info posted here by that way!

Site says Gatorade endurance. That is what they had last year. I dont think all the events have gone powerbar yet. They did have powerbars and gels on course last year. Im glad to hear humidity is dropping. That is almost as good as temp drop.
