Where else can you meet 3000 new friends who are all peeing on each other? |

Not sure how they're going to fit everyone on the beach..very small start area! The 70.3 wave start were really enjoyable! I agree it did seem small. We could be in water like at Lake Placid, that would open it up a lot. The map seemed to show an exit created out of those huge plastic things, and I did see those off to the side at the beach. Training question - there is a pay beach right at our swim start. Are they expecting us to pay for the beach resort when we do our practice swims, now and on race week? We entered at the boat rental area so we didn't pay, and then realized later that we were walking through an area where everyone had wristbands that showed they paid. |

You get free access if you stay at one of the hotels. During race week, your Ironman wristband will get you in free of charge. I still don't know how they'll manage a mass start..the width of the swimming area (from the docked boats to the markers) will not accommodate 2500 people..It was about 30 - 40 feet wide! |

So, I haven't been there so I'm a bit blind in the view of it but when I look at a Google map satellite view, it *looks* like they could set things up pretty wide. Maybe not if we start on land and have to run in but if it were an in water start? |

They can have the start line out into the water as far as they want to go. The lake is so big that it won't affect the loop at all. So we could be in the water like at Lake Placid, and have a little swim out to the start like at Arizona. That would totally work. |

I would buy this.
Now the next issue is the finish. It is REALLY shallow at the finish. I hope the pack gets broken up, but I will be finishing in the thick of the swim and I can forsee a back up of people wading through the end of the swim where it is shallow. Heck, I remember grabbing rocks on the bottom and almost scraping my stomach on them with 100 or so yards left! |

new goal! Hang just behind Kevin the entire race so I can photo bomb his finisher photo. Letting you finish ahead of me will be totally worth it! |

People were wiping out, flipping, shoes flying off...They called it the braveheart charge! oh yeah, and they had the snow making machines blasting us with water which made it nearly impossible to see. I can see it now....Mont Tremblant braveheart charge to start the swim... |

Master 4119![]() ![]() ![]() Toronto | Subject: RE: Ironman Mont-Tremblant : Official ThreadJust got back from a training weekend in M-T. What a fantastic place for the race. It will be really awesome. The only thing we didn't do was swim. We ran the course, biked the loop and both pretty fair - not overly difficult but have challenging sections. Plus, it's just beautiful. I had never been before but I really impressed. AND the roads are generally very smooth. The only really rough place was in Ste. Jovite where I am sure the crowds will be loud and rowdy so we may not really notice! I did find the one downhill on the 117 a little scary! It won't be so bad on race day when there will be less traffic but even with the wide shoulder, the turn lanes and traffic going at 100+kph made me nervous and I really had to brace myself to stay aero and not hit the brakes! Very exhilariating though. The climb back up not so much the same. |

Its gonna be SO great!!! |

Veteran 268![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Northern CT | Subject: RE: Ironman Mont-Tremblant : Official ThreadI've been lurking here for awhile and definitely want to do IMMT 2013 my first). Curious to know how hard/easy was it to find lodging and when did you book? I'm sure it will be totally different next year as the reputation for this begins to build. Pretty familiar with the area as we've skiied there over the years and have stayed at both the village and in the condo up the hill. Ideally would like to book one of those condos again. Good luck to all and I'll be lurking to see race reports. |

Elite 7783![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() PEI, Canada | Subject: RE: Ironman Mont-Tremblant : Official ThreadI booked at the Country Inn and Suites as soon as I registered for the race through the Mont Tremblant accommodations 800 number - that was June of last year. Then once their (Country Inns) website started accepting online bookings (one year out in August), I found a lower rate there, re-booked and cancelled the first one. I rebooked again about a month ago when I wanted to change the arrival date and got another lower rate on a couple of the nights. |

Good luck to all and I'll be lurking to see race reports. I booked a house off VRBO last November or so. There were lots of options available at that time. There are still options available now, they are just pricier. I might be discovering those options very soon if my house deal falls apart - the house was sold to a new owner who isn't nearly as communicative. :-) It seems like there are lots of options available even for late comers. This time of the year likely doesn't come anywhere close to the number of people in the winter. You just might end up staying a bit further from town if you wait too long. That said, for every IM, it's generally a good idea to get your lodging fairly soon after signing up. If you have to, you can cancel and rebook like above. |

Hmm. I didn't see a "very wide start" area but I didn't really look around the much either. I trust them. :-) I'll be one of the 30% in the water. |
