ceilidh - 2012-03-08 11:48 AM I took a bullet the other day... at my physical that I have to have for work. The nurse was doing the weight, height, blood pressure thing. She asked me if I have fallen down lately. I usually bump myself up quite a bit so I searched my arms for bruises she may have noticed. I was wondering why she asked and I replied "no". She then asks me if I feel safe in my home. I was completely flummoxed, I told her yes then I made the HUGE mistake of asking why she wanted to know. She stated that it is now State law that they ask patients. I must have looked as confused as I was so she clarified.... "to prevent elder abuse". To ME!!!!!!!! ELDERLY!!!!!!!!! Holy chit!

I think she was just practicing on you!  There is NO WAY that she could have thought that you were an elder!!

I was in the ER a few years ago with a sprained wrist, HUGE lump on my right quad, and a badly scraped up left shin, plus lots of other bruises, the ER nurse asked me the same questions. I had gotten kicked by a horse in the quad which knocked me off of the horse I was on. I'm not sure she believed me because she gave me pamphlets to take home. My SIL and niece were with me when it happened, I do have witnesses.

I have a friend who years ago was a cop in Atlanta. Last year when I passed out in the shower and had the huge shiner he asked me in private what happened. I told him I passed out in the shower. Then he said "this is me you're talking to, if something else happened you know you can trust me." I really did pass out in the shower.

I can see where they were coming from, but it still is weird when you are telling the truth and you aren't believed. At least you have a buddy who cares!

Today is supposed to be our last dry day for a week or two, so I am going to do my weekend run today!

That's odd, Robin. I almost bought some caulk at the store yesterday. I need to recaulk around my tub, bathroom sink, and probably around the base of the toilet while I'm at it.

We live the most glamorous lives.

Happy Monday all. It was tough getting up today but I sure love the daylight on the other end of the day!

I am off to buy paint and hopefully get a swim in. I am still debating that one. My shoulder is tender from the weekend scraping/caulking and I don't want to push it over the limit.

I'm available for adoption if you wouldn't mind having a 39 year old daughter.
