ebshot - 2012-07-03 11:27 AM I went for a 2 mile run today.  It was hot and humid and I totally melted and was slow as slow can be.  But I felt good and so happy I got it done.  Who cares what my pace was, I was out there.

Exactly. I am hoping to get out there tomorrow sometime. Our high should be 102+, but I bought arm coolers and a Halo headband in San Antonio, so I am prepared! :-)

How can you 'think of slapper at the most innapropriate times' and wear a halo headband?Innocent

Even I wear a Halo and I haven't burst into flame. Yet.

Spontanious combustion is about the only thing you haven't had!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hm. Indeed. I've come close with some of the fevers, though.

Hmmmm the RD for the marathon coming up just e-mailed and asked what bib number we want (it's a small marathon

I don't really have a favorite number I guess...any ideas?

I think there are only 400 people so it can only be 1-400

My fav numbers are those with the least amount of numbers in it.  Ex: 222 (or 22, or 2), or 333.  Next best is something like 242...  I once had a sail number (I used to race sailboats) whose # 181811 - it was coveted by other racers!!

It's a shame there was not six hundred and sixty six entries, or i could have suggested an appropriate numberTongue out

I'll take that as a compliment!

Holy ishhhhh that face is frightening. I've never seen that before.

Taper is actually much welcomed. It is very strange though, after so many months of 220+ miles. I just feel like I should be doing something more. Of course, that is typical. I had to write out a taper plan for myself because I've been doing my own plan pulling from Higdon and Pfitz and their tapers are VERY different. As will mine be.

I'm now recording the rest of the episodes of Twilight Zone episodes and we're watching War of the Worlds (Clint was insisting that he NEEDED to watch it today!Undecided), good thing I enjoy this movie! AND I got news of the return of one of my favorite sci-fi shows--Warehouse 13--Oh if only I could have these days more often...I am such a sci-fi geek.Cool

Morning!  I'm hitting the track today with my kids.  Should be...interesting.  My daughter is just starting to run so I think this is a good way to get her and I running "together" while not really running together.

So the excruciating hour of Pilates wasn't enough - swim squad tonight!

FINS
6X100M (100M free, 100m Back, 100m Breast)

4x100M (100m Left Arm right by side, 100m Right Arm left by side) (I hate this drill)

NO FINS
8X200M
200M - pull and band
200M - free

1x200m - pull buoy - breathe every 6
100m - kick
100m - cooldown

Now that's a cool 3km - and I did a 200m warm up before...woohoo!  Highlight of the night though was a hello kiss and hug from Coach Johnny - swoon!

Wow!! I wouldn't have been able to move after an hour of pilates.  Way to score with the hot piglet coach!! Makes it all worth it!

Good morning/afternoon/evening Manatees! I had a great hike with my son yesterday.  He makes fun of me for "dragging" him up the mountain because I move a decent pace and don't take a lot of breaks.  I just gave him the line about how if he wants his body to adapt he has to put it in conditions to do so.  I didn't do my scheduled 20 bike.  I was "smashed" (as the British TdF announcers phrase it) after the hike.

Speaking of the TdF announcers, I'm learning all kinds of new British terms (nothing like slapper).  I don't quite understand some of them tho...Laughing

Track run done!  I am not sure what's worse, a flat track run in full sun or my hilly route at home with partial shade.  Meh, they both are equally bad/good when it's 1400 degrees outside.

My daughter did 1.5 miles.  Go her!

jogo - 2012-07-03 1:48 PM Car packed for my 1st training tri (before the real thing on Sunday).  Its pouring, thundering, and 100% humidity.  Supposed to clear up and then warm up to 104 degrees by the time I make it out to my favorite swimming hole.  Here is to the 1st OWS in 3 years!!  Here is to seeing if my wetsuit still zips (and for those who like it, the zoot decor is right where a tramp stamp would be and is quite a conversation piece that I am never selling!).  Here is to trying out the new tri-suit before race day!  Here is to surviving and not getting struck down by lightning (which could happen because I said H*LL would have to freeze over before I did another tri and it sure is NOT frozen, it is full blown, the-devil-is-my-pace-booty HOT out there!)!

Holy H*LL in a Handbag!!  In the middle of a deserted lake (with my newbie friend) and torrential downpour, complete with tons of lightning and scary booming thunder.  Not a soul around.  Thank God we had our wetsuits on (virtually impossible to drown).  Could not put head in water to swim because could not breathe when I tried.  The rain was pouring so hard it was hard to get any breath.   We finally made it out, kissed the ground, and the trail we walked out to get to secret lake was flooded.  We had to wade through mud to get back.

Managed to clear up as we got out so we still got 14 hilly miles in on the bike and then bailed on the run because the storms started just as we racked our bikes.  So happy to be home, eating a chicken schwarma sandwich and drinking ar really good Founder's KBS stout ale.

We didn't die, so all is good.  Bring on the tri!!  (I may have panicked a little when we were holding each other up because we couldn't see each other with all the rain.  Bad news, my cell phone was with my towel in a dry bag and got soaked. So much for a waterproof bag in weather like that.  It is sitting in rice, hoping that it comes back to life.

Scary stuff, glad you are OK.  As dangerous as the conditions were and definitely NOT something you want to repeat, you now have that knowledge in your head that you survived that so you can survive anything less and surely much more, too!!

We're back from San Antonio. We had such a wonderful time -- Natural Caverns; Bracken Bat Flight http://www.brackenbatflight.com/(Watch the video -- it was one of the most amazing sights we've ever seen. I will never forget it.) -- and The Schlitterbahn Water Park. Took our bikes down the river walk until we ran into people, then walked them to Casa Rio and had our favorite bowl of chili.

Really did no training -- swimming one night; two bike rides on my hybrid. Lots of walking. But I haven't run in a week. Yikes!

Welcome back, Felicia, sound like a superb trip. Looking forward to watching the bat video.  I *Heart* bats!
