Good for playing in just for fun, not good at all for floating down. A week and a half ago I called the store I bought our first 2 kayaks at and asked if they could get a Mist 9.5 and a Marvel 10. The guy told me he had a Marvel 10 there, and he'd track down a Mist for me and get it shipped to the store. I told him I'd be down today to pick them up. Caleb rode along with me, it was a 1:20 of driving. The store wasn't open yet when we got there so we walked over to a Starbucks to get a bottle of water, we were both thirsty. It was connected to a B&N which was open, so we browsed a few minutes and Caleb picked out 2 books that we bought. We went over then to the Outfitters to get the kayaks. We walked around for a few minutes looking at everything then I asked the cashier about the kayaks, they were supposed to be put aside for me, they weren't. She got a guy to come help us and he told me he had good news and bad news. Good news - he had both kayaks. Bad news - the Marvel didn't have a seat with it. The seat is removable, and somewhere it got lost. He told me he'd take $50 off the price if I still wanted it. I told him I couldn't replace the seat for $50. There was a Perception Prodigy 10.0 there, and it was less than the Marvel. He told me if I went with the Prodigy he'd knock a few dollars off for my trouble. I told him if he knocked $50 off I'd buy a pair of rock climbing shoes, too. He took the $50 off. I picked up a few small things, along with the climbing shoes, I also got a chalk bag and some chalk. I still walked out of there with all of that spending less than what I had originally planned. The Prodigy is comfortable to sit in in the yard. I'm going to take it out and put it in some water tomorrow. durn girl will you come shop with me the next time I buy a car!?? good bargaining skills! you go girl!!! and so where do you climb? and do you do it much??? I thought I would love to do that...but just recently I realized I have a fear of heights!?! I love to fly down a hill on a bike but put me on the side of mtn with a drop and I get all panicky!?! is this a sign of getting old...or did I just not notice it from before!???? |

I need to get some miles going here if I am going to finish the MCM. This weekends canning event was tomatoes. 14 quarts done. (The pickled okra is done, Jules. I am hoping it is as good as it looks. FWIW, unless you are in the dry part of the valley you are in, Okra won't do well. It likes it hot, hot, hot). Off to shower, laundry and get ready for the music up at Chimney Rock Park this evening. I am excited, tomorrow is my bike fitting. Have fun Ghoulies. no we are in the cool area thank goodness...we dont have an air conditioner or window unit because it rarely gets that hot here. so guess I will have to barter some of my veggies for yours!!!! so what do you do to the tomatoes? I have tons and I usually give them away....would love to can a few...is it hard to do? I have the jars for it.... |

Champion 7546 Santa Cruz, California | Subject: RE: GHOULIES moving towards the islands. hi Ghoulies ~ was a crazy busy weekend...I worked the Jazz festival all weekend. We had 5 stages going and each was on a different block (jazz, blues, salsa, swing, hip hop stages)...I was the volunteer coordinator so all weekend long we were dispatching peeps to the various areas we needed them. On Saturday we were short some volunteers so I was out doing thier jobs... ended up at the Swing Stage til after Midnight on Saturday....there were some great names Featured performers at the 23rd annual festival include: The Spinners; Morris Day & The Time; The Jazz Crusaders featuring Joe Sample, Wayne Henderson and Wilton Felder; Dianne Reeves; Terence Blanchard; Boney James; Coco Montoya; Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk; Jeff Hamilton Trio, Alessandro Penezzi Quartet, Amanda Shaw & The Cute Guys; Yoshiaki Miyanoue Tokyo Quartet; BlackMahal; Wil Campa y Su Gran Union; Yesberger Band; and many others. I am shocked at the amount of people that were there...could barely walk thru many of the areas due to crowds...and there was another HUGE free concert in San Francisco called the Outsides Land concert with many big big names and gourmet food vendors....Stevie Wonder being one of the names... today my daughter and her boyfriend are coming to stay a few nights with us. This afternoon a bike ride is planned then bbq...I just finished cleaning the every single floor in my houes...I hate to mop and I did! my husband worked really hard in our yard over the weekend while I was at the festival and so I am out watering all the plants and veggies. Have a great Monday and week Ghoulies |

He would like to learn to kayak, he was asking me about the class I help with, so we are going to swap services. |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: GHOULIES moving towards the islands. Our Saturday this weekend was a bit tramatic. Our son came back home from a quick trip. Pulled into the driveway, parked his car. Got out and then went to get stuff out of his trunk. He sees the four dogs next door head his way and before he knows it he got bit on the thigh. The dog broke skin right through his pants. The neighbor did come over to apologize as we were trying to get our son off to Urgent Care. He had to call into work to let them know he was not coming in. I read the neighbor the riot act. I like dogs and love animals in general, but you don't let four big dogs run around loose. Our neighborhood has lots of little kids running around all the time, and all I could think of was my 3 & 4 year old grandkids playing outside just a week ago. I did call animal control to report the bite. The dog is supposed to be in quarintine at a vet's right now for the next 10 days. Meanwhile, my son is taking antibiotics and keeping the bite clean. Did not make for a good Saturday. |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: GHOULIES moving towards the islands. Oh, and the way my neighbor treats the dogs is dispicable. He yells, curses, and acts as if he kicks and hits them. I am not surprised that they act the way they do. People like that should not have animals. I'm hoping that things will change now that animal control is involved but I am not holding my breath. |
