Veteran 118 Somerset, PA | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Checking in to say hello. Starting to get a bit excited as LP will be my second IM. Did Louisville in 2011 and it was a blast. I used the Fink's competitive plan and it seemed to work pretty well. Ended up with a 12:06. Super secret goal for LP is to break 12 hours, but I'm also willing to let that slide on race day if it means putting myself into danger. Right now it's just running, riding and swimming a couple of days a week to keep the fitness up and start driving the weight down again. Hope everyone has a great holiday season and the start is just around the corner for us Finker's. Edited by Peter B 2012-12-17 1:54 PM |

Member 71 Bel Air | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Has anyone ever used the Endurance Nation plan or joined their training team? I read a forum on BT and most people thought it was a good plan and enjoyed it. Right now I'm planning on using the Fink plan, but I did a pre-registration form for Endurance Nation. Their philosophy seems pretty convincing and I thought their Lake Placid camp would be extremely useful to make the course a little less "intimidating". It's $99/mo. which is significantly more affordable than most coaching plans. They have a 30-day trial that I'll definitely be trying out. |

hope everyone is enjoying the holidays!!! Few of us did 42 miles this morning....it was 21 degrees out. My Infinit was a slushy lol You guys are bada$$. I'll run in anything ... but I just don't like the cold weather riding. That and I was actually looking forward to the trainer pain that associates with TrainerRoad. actually I am a wimp but I have the right gear for the conditions!
I have been doing Jorge's plan (indoor) |

I have been doing Jorge's plan (indoor) I'm using Mike Ricci from D3. Signed up for online coaching here. Going with TrainerRoad for biking to fit the plan he designed for me. Right now still getting back into the swing of things on the bike. Running is just fine, entering the 16 weeks of training prior to Boston. Swim remains a disaster. |

Veteran 202 Broad Brook | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I am in week 8 of the out season. So far I like it lots of intensity on bike and run. I am av. Around 6-8 hours a week until Feb. I have done the mega mileage approach and for me I lose motivation when the weather turns nice. Lots of info on the site and I am pleased with my decision to join EN. |

Extreme Veteran 828 North Shore, MA. | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Jeff, I feel guilty reading about your slushy infinit. I wish I was still riding outside, but it's waaaay too cold for me. You clearly are maintaining your 'Badass of the group' award from last year lol I got the email from my coach: I go into 'official traning' mode as of Dec 31. Up until now I've been running and cycling, but barely any swimming. I guess I'll have to suck it up and get back in the pool very soon. Brian, I hope you're all healed up, that was quite the tumble you took.Ok, I'm excited to really get going here! |

Member 67 Baton Rouge | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I start the Fink Competetive Plan Dec. 31. December has been a bad month for me, I am taking the off season very seriously. I have only been doing P90X this month. I think I needed the mental break from SBR. I can't wait to get rolling again. |

I'm doing Rev3 Quassy, which is June 1st (10 weeks out) and I believe there are a good amount of other people doing that race also. Eagleman Ironman is June 9th or 10th and is a good race, but I think it sold out already. The Fink plan has a Half distance scheduled. |

I am signed up for Quassy, and would like to do a camp if time permits. If nothing else, I want to get on the bike course a bit so that the Keane descent is not a complete surprise! Also want to judge the long, slow ascent at the end of the loops. Perhaps I am too simple, but the run course layout (while challenging, don't get me wrong) is not as big of a priority to see. Ideally, I would like 4 to 6 loops on the bike course prior to race day. Have been doing a lot of simple running foundation work, to start to prep for full on training. |

I wish I was still riding outside, but it's waaaay too cold for me. You clearly are maintaining your 'Badass of the group' award from last year lol It's been hitting high 30's and low 40's here...so it's been kinda nice! I have to maintain the 'badass of the group' until raceday! It's an honor to hold and I plan on living up to it! lol cheekymonkeys1 - 2012-12-22 10:39 PM Anyone planning on doing a camp up there? Also, Are you doing a 'tune up' HIM, and if so which one? My coach wants me to do one, I'm a little on the fence. There are lots of camps up there. The one that some of us will be doing from NY is the T3 Camp which is May 18/19. Quassy is the most popular HIM. The bike/run courses are harder than LP so it's a very nice tuneup for the big day. I'm registered for that as well. |

I wanted to do Quassy but after shelling out $1400 for a hotel for Boston and $3500 for a house at LP, I need to stay local and cheap! And that only gets me through July |

Regular 91 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I did a camp last year to ride the course and become familiar before signing up for LP this year. I plan on going up two weekends this year during training to ride the course. Just getting over Bronchitis so by Jan 1 I will be good to begin the Fink plan. I need to believe that I can do this because my own self doubt is what is going to do me in The goal is to finish before midnight and not get injuried during training!!! Enjoy the holidays. |

I do not like the way this sounds. I'm regretting signing up for the Oly and Half. |
