124 | Subject: RE: 2015 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4- Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open Great job on the improvement from last year! I had about the same results. Picked up time in transition from learnings of last year and on the bike. Run still killed me. Getting my legs to transition from cycling to running is a challenge to say the least. |

I'm looking for a good metallic blue... Honestly, kind of like yours, but I want to keep mine monochromatic. I've managed to keep mine on the cheap so far... but when I get to wheels it's probably going to cost me. |

Tomorrow is the start of my kick-in-the-azz training and nutritional upgrade. It is time to get serious about my upcoming races. Especially since my record this year is so darn dismal. |

Not spectacular but respectable. Nutrition, was not great, far too much junk food, so mywife and I have agreed to up our game for our diet. We've gone and tried to organize ourselves and made a meal plan for the whole week, purchased in advance. so there are good healthy meals sitting at home now, no excuses. But, despite not being happy with what I ate, I weighed in 2.9lbs down this week... Can't explain it, but I'll take it. It's the smallest number I've seen on the scale for almost a year. |

Regular 1779 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: 2015 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4- Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open Originally posted by WebFootFreak Overall: My 1:42:06.3 was an improvement by 9:42.06. No matter how bad I feel about my run, I can not be disappointed with that... and I'm not. Now I looking forward to the Gearhead Sprint in 5 weeks (plus a day) and ultimately taking a shot at my PR at the Riverbluff Sprint 7 weeks (minus a day) after that. Now... comparing my pace times to what I did at Riverbluff last year has me... cautiously optimistic. My swim and bike were both slightly faster yesterday, and my run was WAY faster (I burned out on the bike in the heat last year... plus HILLS). I know I haven't made the leaps and bound of improvement that I wanted, but I have improved. Throw in the health improvements I've enjoyed, and I would say that the time from my first Tri ever, to repeating the even has overall been a huge success. I'm looking forward to maintaining, if not exceeding, the improvments I've made by Memphis in May next year... And set another PR . Huge improvement! good job, that's awesome work |

I like to see where I stack up event by event against the other Clydes... and i almost spit out my lunch... I out swam, out biked, and, out ran the guy that finished 2 minutes ahead of me... he out transitioned me by that big of a margin |

Definitely agree with the plan ahead diet technique. Helps hugely on cost too. I head to Italy on business for a week on Saturday so am somewhat nervous about what my weight may be on return... |

Champion 6993 Chicago, Illinois | Subject: RE: 2015 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4- Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open 90% of weight lose comes from the Kitchen. You can not out train a bad diet. Gatarade endurance has less calories than I though but take Chicago marathon. 20 water stops * 60 cals / per 8 oz glass. = 1200 calories Avg runner 100 cals / mile * 26.2 miles = 2620 cals per marathon If you are 320 lbs like me based on my last test to measure cals I burn when I run 180 / mile * 26.2 = 4620 calories If you are avg runner you will only burn 1420 which is not even half a lbs. If you you are 320 lbs guy like me you will burn 3480 which is close to a lbs per marathon Of course you could just run 30 miles per week and if you do I bet you could run last minute you wanted to do it. Also remember 3500 cals per lbs is also an educated guess. It all depends on how much water is stored with it. |

JC ... one move you can make is about 200 yds or so from transition, rotate your pedals to the 3:00 and 9:00 position; stand and stretch your calves and hamstrings. With my first tri, I pedaled hard almost all the way to transition and could hardly get off the bike. Now, I slip my feet out of my shoes, stand on top of the shoe and stretch, again ~200 yds or so from transition. It's also faster for me to run into transition on bare feet, than with my shoes on. Notice the left foot out of the shoe and on top below: |

788 Across the river from Memphis, Tennessee | Subject: RE: 2015 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4- Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open Sunday Update: I am down another 2lbs this week to 246. Very, VERY happy with that. I am now 1lb below where I dropped to in March. Hopefully, I can continue the trend This week has been a mixed bag both in training and in real life. Swim: Jumped in the pool Friday for 1350yds free followed by 3x50yd kick. Not sure about my time, but I did push it to blow off some steam. Bike: I missed my Sunday AM ride last week due to rain... however, I did have the chance to make it up with 20.42mi Monday. Add in 4.4mi from a failed attempt at an interval ride (too ambitious, and killed myself ) and 31.78mi from yesterday's group ride and I can NOT be unhappy with 56.6mi for the week. Run: I tried a C25K reboot this week, but real life decided to stick it's nose in my business. I only got 1 session in for 1.98mi. Real life decided to kick me in the nethers this week. First of all, my sister in law is visiting which limited how late I could run (she sleeps on the couch) since I didn't want to wake her. She is here because Amy was scheduled for surgery to remove a kidney stone this week. It was supposed to be in Thurs and home Friday... Due to fever, we're looking at possibly Tuesday now. I also found out that my job is getting turned upside down. Not happy with that, but thankfully I believe I have a viable backup plan. |

Regular 1779 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: 2015 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4- Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open Another OK week for me. 5 runs for 2 hours 40 minutes. That's more than last week, and 3 solid weeks in a row now, so I think officially back on track again. Unfortunately on Monday morning weigh in I was 3.5lbs up on last week. I'm not sure why, I definitely ate, and exercised better than the previous week. I just have to assume that last the water weight was particularly low, and this week it was a bit high. Hopefully next week will be trending down again. |

Member 159 Fairfax, VA | Subject: RE: 2015 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4- Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open Hey everyone, I haven't posted here for awhile but I've been trucking along. I'm really happy with my biking lately and did my longest ride ever (70 miles) last weekend! My run on the other hand needs some work. a LOT of work. My diet is pretty much out the window right now. I'm getting my kitchen redone and the construction has lasted over a month already (no idea why it's taking that long, but the contractor promises it will only be another couple weeks). As such, I've been eating out pretty much every night. Excuses, I know... I was looking at the 100 miles in June challenge, but just not sure I will be able to get there with all the other workouts on my schedule. I might try for the 100K though.. that's a little more realistic. |

788 Across the river from Memphis, Tennessee | Subject: RE: 2015 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4- Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open It's been a tough week... Amy didn't get out until late Tues night. On the way out, I heard a funny noise from Bethany (the youngest), and she got sick all over the lobby floor. Thankfully a lot of my worry was taken out of my hands as dinners were provided by our church Wed-Sat this last week. I had hesitated saying anything because 1)There's 4 of us... that's a lot of food. and 2) Pride. I had a hard time admitting that I needed the help. We've helped out families like this before, and it was nice to do a little bit to help others... but until this week, I never realized how HUGE that little bit really is. I'm also very thankful for Jacob, Rebekah and Kiera because they all stepped up to the plate to help out. I have to admit that I am very blessed, and I am thankful for that. Needless to say, this was a hit or miss training week Swim: Got 1500 free and 2x50kick in before work on Friday.... Yeah, had to work Friday.... Bike: 28.57mi on Sunday before everyone woke up (SIL was still in town)... and that was it. Run: 4mi in 2 sessions. Should have gotten an 3rd, but... oh well.. I am back up 2lb this week to 248.0. Between being distracted by life, I have to admit that there are a lot of good cooks at our church... |

More like 6 of us... I forgot to add... I am dropping the Gearhead Sprint from my schedule this year. With Amy out of work for 2 weeks this time and who knows how long next time and possibly a 3rd stay... yeah, paying for races is waaaay low on the priority list. I will be doing Riverbluff since that one is paid for, and it's close to family. Also... was given a pair of beat up Mountain Bikes. A Mongoose Ledge 2.2 and a Genesis V2100. I plan to try to make 1 serviceable bike out of two, and donate the rest of the parts to my local bike co-op. If all goes to plan, I should have a bike that'll handle an Xterra event next year Edited by WebFootFreak 2015-06-01 10:08 AM |

People really like to, so I don't know why it is so hard and I hear you on those good cooks It is probably wise to cut back on the races, they are indeed pricey. Now you have more time to train and you have that new(ish) MTP to create and play with. |

Regular 1779 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: 2015 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4- Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open Hi guys, It was a good week for me, 3 hours and 5 minutes on the treadmill, which is my biggest week of the year, a long run of 55 minutes, which is my biggest single run since September 2013, and a monthly total of 10 hours and 20 minutes which is the first time since May 2013 that I've cracked 10 hours running in a month. So over all, quite a few little milestones ticked off! I also ate, reasonably well, and dropped 3lbs (most of what I gained on last weeks weigh in) So I'm happy that last weeks high weigh in was misleading and the trend is still heading down. This month my goal is to keep up the running as I have been, I'm aiming to average above 3 hours for the week. And I'm also really hoping that I can lose those last few pounds so I can get back on my bike before the end of the month. I very much want to be back in multi sport mode, not just running. |
