What's you volunteer post, runnerx? I'm co-captain of Volunteer Food and Fun tent in the oval......still seeking volunteers if anyone is interested.....

Bike Handler - first 2 shifts. Plus plenty of time to spectate in between and after. I may go up with someone who would be interested in volunteering. I'll PM you separately.

Where do you live, nicoleg?

I'm new here (this is my first post everSmile) but I'm also volunteering this year. I'm at one of the run stations. Can't remember which one. I've never even been to the race (even though it's very close to my hometown) so I'm really looking forward to being there and cheering everyone on!

I'm hoping for roughly that time too...We are in the same AG so you'd better check your skewers before you leave T-1

Yeah, we will be so close to a Kona slot that one place will really matter!

I currently live in Clifton Park, NY but until a little over a year ago I lived in Keeseville so Lake Placid was pretty close by.

I'm going to be at the Town Garage Aid station. The current plan is to work until 6:30 but that may change. I would've liked to work a later shift but I talked both my parents into volunteering with me and they want to have dinner and then hang out at the finish line for awhile so we'll see...

Don't worry about sayin Hi. I just hope I do a good job for you guys. I plan to do IMLP in a few years so I it's a learning experience for me to be there (and to read all your race reports!)

Nicole

ps. aquinn-Desparados was one of my favorite restaurants up there. In fact I made a few trips to LP especially to eat there (no good Mexican in Plattsburgh)

In one part of my brain all of the training is a blur, the other part remembers the 4:30 am alarms, the freezing runs in February, the 3 hour trainer sessions in March, the 54 degree water at Harriman in May, not to mention the crazy expenses...

Yeah, I'm considering it :0

PennState - 2008-07-09 5:35 PM

OK, so for those considering signing up for 2009, we have:

1. Kathy
2. Scout
3. Pennstate (me)
4. Tamio

Anyone else? I am still considering IMKY, but likely LP.

So should we try and meet for lunch on Monday at aquinn's restruant?-Desparados Do you by chance have an area for a possible big group?

Also do we want to try and grab a table at the athlete dinner and try to sit together?

I don't think my whole family will come but maybe my husband. IMLP the food was awful and for $20 no my kids will have something else. If I had reached my goal of losing 100 pounds as I'd have them come in the chance I might be one of the final biggest loser participants..dang got to 97 pretty close.

I've heard that name before in NJ-area races.  Listen to his advice- he's very fast.

Personally, I don't think the food at either "free" meal we get is worth it to pay the additional money for others to attend.  I can see your husband coming, but I think your kids may be a bit bored if they came.  Plus, do you really want to expose your kids to this crazy crewWink

I'll likely be attending both dinners, and lunch at Desperadoes on Monday sounds great too.

The food at either of the dinners is not likely to be all that great, but the energy and atmosphere (especially Friday night) was worth it to me. My wife wants me to get her a ticket for Friday night again, even though the food was mediocre, just so she can be a part of the "pep rally" type atmosphere. My kids will be with the in-laws, since they would be pretty bored at the dinners.  Mike Riley gets everyone pumped up, and since it's Friday night, people aren't as nervous as they might be Saturday.

OK- Bad news-- Despos (as the locals call it) is only open for lunch Tuesday- Saturday.....so Monday lunch is sadly not going to work (not that I could be there at that time anyhow-- I have to go work and I don't work there ) Y'all need a new plan.

I wasn't planning on the dinner or the meeting.  Sounds like one big cluster-f to me and I'm SURE the food sux.

PennState - 2008-07-09 9:18 PM

I really wasn't planning on the athlete dinner.... but I have to go to the meeting after I guess.

I just amj not a fan of mass cooked meals with lots of nervous triathletes...

I may attend the "mandatory" meeting, but I really have no interest in the dinner. Id prefer to make my own that night, and I dont really want to do the meeting either but maybe thats just nerves talking..! Is everyone at least in for the meeting?

Pretty sure they are not going to take attendance I may get caught up the IM mania and attend but I'm sure I've heard it all before.

I don't really want to do the dinner either as I don't like the nervous energy and prefer to eat my own stuff, but I haven't decided yet. I really don't want to go to the meeting as it will keep me up past my bedtime. However, I was glad I attended the Timberman pre-race meeting, so I am afraid I might miss out on something by not attending this one. I wish they would have more than one pre-race meeting. 7:30 p.m. two nights before the race is NOT COOL!!!!!!!!!
