Who else is racing this weekend?

I had this incredible ice cream treat last night: a vanilla ice cream float made with Lindeman's Framboise Lambic beer. SO GOOD.  

I never knew Portland, OR had such great food.  I'm going to gain 10 pounds before I go home.

Less than 24 hours now!!!  Just want to thank everyone for your support and encouragement!!  I can honestly say I would not be racing tomorrow if it weren't for all of you!  Can't wait to share my RR with you tomorrow afternoon!

Try and keep busy today and keep your mind off the race.  Either way, your going to rock the race and then we can just concentrate on mocking Ken, um, supporting Ken, as the last remaining member who has not raced.

I liked the other pic of me you had. Yep first race. Once again weather is looking horrible. So far I have raced in the rain twice adn rained out once of 4 races. Not too shabby of odds.

Some things are just not right, and that pic is one of them.

I've got a half mary on Sunday.  Won't be pushing it since I just did one 4 weeks ago, but still should have fun.  It's local so I can ride the bike to the start and back.   I bought a townie last summer.  She is blue and has a basket and a bell.  Her name is Beautiful Blue Betty. I threatened my friends to ride her in a sprint last fall.  I still may find a small one and do it this year.  Maybe put something fun in the basket.  A puppy perhaps. Whoops, already been done.

I'm taking this afternoon off.  Yippee.

Here you go.  She gets many admiring glances when I take her to the Critical Mass rides.  And Big Red and Stumpy are jealous that she gets to go to all the cool places......the farmers market, coffee shop, bagel shop and Thai takeout place.  Easier to ride to many of my weekend stops than to find a place to park.

So I finished up work early and went over and picked up my race packet at 4.  Once I pulled into the Y and saw that everything was almost all set up, I got the biggest smile on my face, excitement level went to a whole new level.  I think it finally hit me that all this is really happening tomorrow!  I got my race number (508) and found out I'm in wave 8 and was super excited when they handed me a pink swim cap!  It's really cute!!  Then I got some little goodies they were giving out for free and my shirt.  I was extremely impressed with the shirt.  It's like the dri fit type material... I'll have to post a picture of me wearing it post race tomorrow so everyone can see.  Then at 6 there was a little info session that James and I went to.  They went over the course and rules and gave tips for beginners.  Really happy I went to it, feel so much more prepared for it now as they went over the course in a lot of detail.  Definitely feel like I know what I'm up against now.  We're starting the swim in deep water as opposed to on the beach.  Definitely scares me a little, but I'm so much more confident in my swim ability now that it's not as big a deal as it would have been if they told me this 2 months ago.  They were selling all kinds of cool triathlon gear.  Will have to lead my parents by there tomorrow and drop some hints   When we left, James said he wants to do one now.  The swim is the only thing keeping him from doing one.  he doesn't want to swim in the lake.  So I mentioned the August tri that I'm considering doing is a pool swim and I think he actually may do it!!!  Well I think this post is long enough now, but I was just so excited that I had to share with everyone!! Good luck to all the other racers this weekend!!

Tell James to HTFU. You will rock it tomorrow. I am still debating my first OWS tri in July or August.

I am officially a triathlete!  Had the time of my life today!! It was definitely tough but it was just the best experience ever!  RR is up!
