Hi everyone.  Great race for me as well.   The course was long by my Garmin (13.25) so if I adjust for the extra distance I hit my time goal of 2:15 exactly!!!!    Best of all I am so excited about my pace.  I held around a 10:35 pace for the first 10 miles then dropped my overall average to a 10:25 in the the last 5K.  I negative split that puppy!!   I think I'm finally over the hump on my running and have reached the point where I want to see how fast I can run.  Before it was always just a test to see if I could do the distances.  This is really cool.

Great job everyone else!  Wonderful weekend performances.

Well the Gator Half has been accomplished and my 1st half. Unofficial time was around 5:40. My first goal was to finish then the rest was bonus.

Start out with the swim and talk about panic the 1st 100ft or so just couldn't get my breath was had a quick thought of quitting but I didn't got my composure and by the end of the swim I was starting to relax and get my stroke back. My swim time was 36:16 which really surprised me. I never was so glad to be on the bike after the swim which went very good. On the run I start out strong nice and smooth strides and about half way through the 1st lap I tanked ended up walking got to the watering holes got water filled up my bottles and dumped ice down my back and and front legs started cramping along the way. Got to the turn around got more water and as I went along started having an argument with myself telling myself to suck it up Buttercup (Thanks Tri Chic posted on page 53) and you don't know what pain is then all of sudden I pickup my pace up and actually and finished stronger than I thought was possible several miles back. It was pure stubbornness I believe.
Thank for all of the help

Great job, Bryce, fighting those voices telling us to stop is a huge achievement, especially when the body is in perfect agreement with those voices!  Nice job on all three disciplines, your training really paid off!  Great mental toughness.

Tuffli:  really cute pic and great race report.  I will be curious to hear what others have to say about your nutrition since I want to do an HIM in Sept.   It sounds like you took in quite a bit on the bike, but it wasn't clear what you were doing on the run until some time after you cramped.   Cramping is still a mystery for the scientists.  There is no solid evidence yet to say that it is caused by lack of electrolytes or lack of a certain mineral like potassium.

Awesome job to hang in there through that run.  A couple of Olys I did last summer were high temp/humidity (32 C and 70% humidity), but I guess Singapore weather was even tougher.

Yeah, I just found out. I did not know they were publishing it yesterday and did not see the thread until an hour ago. So I have posted to the thread discussion. Some people really do not like the WTC. I do not quite understand that.

race report

Princess

Tuffli, do not post this on ST. You will just get hammer for her not wearing the right size top and the excess aerodynamic drag it creates!

AGREE!  She is such a cutie!  And GREAT RACE!

Last summer, I had some issues with leg cramping on my first few brick runs and had to really be conscious of driniking enough water on the bike.  Especially on hotter days.  It wasn't clear from your rr whether you were following your gatorade or bars/etc with water?  I use infinit and water, usually drink a gulp of sport drink and then a gulp or two of water.

If you were doing what you normally did (nutritionally) in training, though, then it very well could have been your amazingly strong effort on the bike took a bit out of you for the run.
