Supposed to do a big bike today -100k. Was raining in the AM. Did not want a trainer ride. It started to clear, so drove out to where i wanted to start. Got about 20k in, and skyed opened up. Held on for a while, but it got cold in a hurry. Toes were chillly. Only got in just over 60k. Blahh.

Oh hey John, I cleaned my bike tonight!! chain and all.

Results are up... It appears I pulled a 3rd in my AG! Totally surprised by that, LOL! As usual, my bike time sucks compared to my run/swim (sorry, Suzy, but it's true... it's really, truly true).

Overall time: 1:16:38
Swim: 6:21 (1st in my AG!)
Bike: 46:23
Run: 20:32

Funny.... they "credited" our run as a 5K or 3 miles, but it was really short (2.72 miles by my Garmin), but they have my pace as a 6:51. LOL!!! Bummer, I didn't wait around for results so don't know if anyone picked up my hardware.

Nice job, racers!!!  Gotta love the podiums. Kyla, find the hardware.

Last hard ride today.....68 miles, but over 8000 feet of climbing.  Tunitas Creek, Old La Honda, Alpine Rd. - Tour de California roads!  almost 3 mile run/brick.  That hurt, it was close to 90 today.  Bit of a sunburn!  Long run tomorrow, then it's TAPER TIME!!!!!

Tail end of the bike, got a call.  Son took off his car's front bumper on his sister's (parked) car.  (Correction, they are both OUR cars.)   Is SURE that it is her fault.  Somehow.  Gotta love teenagers.

Nice Job Racing MG'ers!  You guys have really set the bar high.  Can't wait to read the RR's.

Beside the usual weekend honey do list, work at the apartments, and kids activites....man it sure is great when your kids can drive themselves to all thier activities....I seem to be doing a lot of "taper" training, last big weekend of workouts before raising the bar again next weekend!  After reading all the posts, it must be raining everywhere because I got poured on yesterday during my ride.  Was so wet I literally dumped water out of my bike shoes when I was done!  HTFU as the say.

Hope everybody enjoys thier Sunday.  Laughing

My race report is up.

GOOD JOB HTFU in the rain!!!

Once again, it is POURING here. At least we got a few hours of sun yesterday and my kids got to play in the pool. My son is to have a baseball game in about an hour and he's passed out cold. I cannot, in good conscience, wake up that kid to go and slog around on wet fields or, worse, arrive only to have it called for rain. Today I play my Mommy Card proudly and am doing what my kid needs and right now, it's sleep. Thankfully no training on tap for me today -- just resting. A good day to do it!

And I would have been if I had just swum a little bit faster, ridden a little bit faster and run a lot faster And keep up those comments and I'll have one of my no neck Italian aquaintances out west come and visit you.

Finished the Tejas.  I am not really sure of my times yet until the results are posted.  It was a still, humid morning....with just enough cloud cover until after the run was done, so that was a good thing.  The humidity was amazing....I had a dry towel hanging on my bike before the swim to use during T1.  When I picked it up after the swim, it was damp.

RR will be posted when I get the results.

Race report is up here.

I missed my time goal (1:30) by about a minute and a half.  Transitions times were my best ever so feeling good about that.

Now, dealing with the thought of no races for two months (Bridgeland on 8/8).   Gives me lots of time to train/prep for that one.   I do need to check out any tips/techniques on how to swim (and maybe wrestle?) with gators......

Caution: Serious question

For all our running pros out there. Could a change in shoe type ( from Adidas to Brooks) cause the tight calves I have been experiencing over the past few weeks. Yesterday's race was the worst. It took me 3 out of the 4 K to get my calves to lossen up enough to get into a good comfortable pace.

Maybe, but we could use a little more info....like which Addidas and which Brooks model are we talking about? did you change from cushioning to stability? stability to motion control?  How many miles have you run in them?

8000 ft. of climbing, wow!! That is one heck of a ride, you earned your taper!
Hope your teens and your cars are ok!
