Howdy Nibbs!  Happy Friday!

Cat, glad the medical stuff is cleared up.  I hate the unnecessary tests.

Dee, like the new avatar.

Beth, glad you finished all the enchiladas.  Wish I could have one (and the shot of tequila)

Kristen, the monkey looks cute.  And a little annoyed that you are taking another picture.

Everyone else, sorry I didn't have anything specific.

I just thought she maybe hated the mortar board... it'll be interesting to compare this pic to her next cap and gown photo in what? 12 years.... I bet she'll have a different opinion then....

Nevertheless... she's a doll, Kristen... not a monkey today, but a doll

Okay, been around for a few minutes, but haven't actually said...

GOOD MORNIN' NIBBS!!!!!

Wow, what a busy season... kids getting out of school (for me that really jsut means time to pound out fliers for all the summer activities we're hosting, schools love us this time of year - not)... Graduations and parties... outdoor swimming pools opening (ugh, got report of dead mouse in drain last night, gotta geaux fetch him this morning - love being next to river trail and golf course... ALL the little critters come out)...

Lots more going on I'm sure....

Have a good day...

Me - scratches, cuts, and bruises. Pretty sore, but I'll live.

The bike - looks OK & I rode her home...I'll have my bike-geek baby brother look at it this weekend when he's in town.

Casualties - I think I'm going to kill my seat wedge pack...it caused the accident by picking an inopportune time (like when I was riding) to come loose and jam into my back wheel.
I've ridden with it for a year and it never even wiggled until today...I have no idea why it fell off.

Did you ride in wet conditions earlier? Sometimes the velcro gets less sticky with rain and gunk from the rear tire thrown on it. Sorry you went down but glad you are ok.

kns57 - 2008-05-22 8:11 PM What's happening this weekend for everyone? Any special plans for Memorial Day? I'm working Sat & Sun and then going on that Motorcycle ride with hubby on Monday.
Guess what I'm doing Memorial Day? Yep. Werk I'll come up and help Beth with the enchiladas if tequila is involved. My kiddos love going to the library during the summer, too. Very challenging to find the books on the list, though.
Yeah, the schools never want to give the lists to the public library before they hand them out to the kids so we can't even order extra to have enough. Our library system usually doesn't have more than 20-40 copies of a book in the whole system. This is for a county that has over 100K kids in the school system not counting the private schools. Just try to get a book. If you don't get on the reserve list the first week of school being out you just better go and buy the book.

Maybe that's why my backwoods backwater town/school district never had reading lists....  I remember in High school you could go to the English teacher for next year and she would give you a twenty year old paperback of To Kill A Mockingbird (or some other classic like that)... Of course I'm sure the teachers thought it a waste anyhow, not most students were more interested in trying to kill themselves water skiing next to offshore boats, bridges, and barges vs anything remotely like an education.  Heck my community didn't even have a library until I was in 4th grade... we DID have the BOOKMOBILE however... now that was cool...

I like the schools that just encourage the kids to read no matter what the book is. There are so many good titles out there that working from a list of 10-20 books is ridiculous. Oh by the way, if you have kids at home they should see each of their parents read for themselves about 15 minutes a day. That way they know reading is not just for school work.

Kristen, sorry to hear about the bike accident. Glad that you are basically okay. Do get the bike checked out. I took a spill a little over a year ago because the pedal came off. When my hubby took the bike to the shop he did not tell them I fell so the bike was not checked over. Next time I got on, I found out that the brake/shifter had broken (and it was for the back brake). Not a good one to be without. So, yes, get your brother to check it out well.

Wow, Beth. You are WonderWoman!

Drive by for me. Must change over laundry (yes, it never ends) and then prepare my stuff for my ride tomorrow. I am doing the Marquis de Sade, which is 84 miles of climbing. Actually, I'm probably doing around 78 and I'm leaving off two of the climbs, coach's orders. These two climbs, you climb up then turn around and descend. The speeds at which you descend and the bike traffic climbing make it not worth the risk, according to my coach. So, darn, I just won't do those two. It will be a nice opportunity to get my mountain miles, make new friends, and have rest stops to refill bottles(and pee )

Morning,  Afternoon,  Evening, Nibbs!

Kristen - Glad you're OK! Elder Monkey is cute! Although she is looking a tad annoyed at you in the 2nd photo.

Sal - I see the mention of cheesecake still makes you magically appear.

Kendra - Mentioning the pic that he owes you still makes Sal disappear.

Jen - Any word on your medical tests yet? I don't remember seeing anything recently.

Beth - So. You like cleaning? Boy, do I have a GREAT job for you..... Um, and we ARE invited to the party, right? Right????

Heather - You fell off your bike, too? Wow, May is a dangerous month for bike riding.

Pam - The Marquis de Sade is a VERY appropriate name for a bike ride which includes 84 miles of climbing (even if you "just" do 78 of them).

OK, I think I'm up to speed with the last 2 pages, at least.

For my exciting Friday night i went out at lunch and picked up two clarinet reeds... I havent played much in about 5 years so if I get it playing it will be interesting... probably a little scary but how hard can it be to get back into form?

Want to confuse people at work???
Bring your new reeds to work to suck on them....

THats so funny.... when i got them back to the office I did contemplate getting them out and doing that to get them primed up!

I did play last night... not as bad as I feared but not much endurance beyond about 45 minutes.... oh and my fingering is sloppy since I dont just 'know' any of the pieces any more... its a start!
