G'morning!

I feel great this morning!  I debated whether to get out of bed early today to go to my 6:30am yoga class.  Finally, last minute I decided to go, and I'm really glad I did.  My hips & upper back feel so much better now, and I didn't even know they were tight!  Now I'm ahead on my yoga goal for the month!

Tonight I have a tempo run planned.  It'll probably be on the treadmill at the gym again I'm still getting over that headcold and don't want to push it too much with too much outdoor training.

Jen- I totally hear you on the above-freezing temperatures...  We're at 35 degrees today, and it feels like a heat wave!  Hopefully the temperature stay like this until the weekend so I can do my long run outdoors without getting another headcold next week Surprised

I was on the trainer this morning, and I'm scheduled for a short run tomorrow. I'm toying with switching around my orthotics to help fix these nagging calf and shin issues. Since tomorrow is such a short workout, that'll be the time to try something new.

This has been a hard month for me.  I'm behind on my goals and struggling to catch up.

Back to work today and I'm taking the day off.  The plan is to keep up with the TP ball, heat application, and stretching.

I just ordered a pair of 2XU calf guards for my trail running!  Anxiously awaiting their arrival to give them a try.

Sorry to hear that your calfs are still bugging you.

The challenge is fun & to motivate but not too mame yourself.  You are too motivated & left to your own devices, you will mame yourself!  I don't know you, never met you, but do know this.  I am the same.  Unfortunately I never refuse a physical challenge & I think you don't either

The summary of my babbling is to look after yourself first.  Treat your Piriformis & the rest will fall in line.  You do not need to take one for the team, & set yourself back 6 monhs.  We will  be OK.  We can adjust your goals.  No biggie.  If you need to put on your cheerleader costume, get some pom poms & cheer us onSurprised

Tim,  let it heal, man!

There I said it!  I feel better now!Smile

dcon - 2010-01-12 9:25 PM Hi everyone.  I'm doing pretty well with my goals - ahead on the run and swim and a little behind on the bike and weights.   I will have no problem with the weights, but will struggle if I can't get in some more rides outside.  I can only tolerate about 30 minutes on a health club bike before the seat is killing me.

I feel the same exact way. as soon as i get warmed up (in the legs) my "man zone" starts to go numb or just throb.  I find going to the spinning room and using those bike is a little more comfy but nothing beats my road bike.

I just got in a 40 min roller workout.  yah me.  I got a 20 min run tomorrow morning.

Until that last line, your "speech" had motivated me to vote you leader on all future teams we are part of together.

I moved my off night to last so I'll be hitting the pool and treadmill tonight.  I've come to really enjoy the lack of people in the gym on a Friday night.

I also can't tell you how excited we all are that it that we might even push 45 around here today!  Here's hoping everyone has a great and productive Friday!

Happy Friday!

I am on a rest day today! I had an awesome tempo run on the treadmill last night, though it is annoying that the thing times out at 60 mins. bleh. Oh well. I am about halfway through the goals for the month.

And I totally agree with Gogogo - don't kill yourself trying to meet your goals. It's cool to revise them. Your health is more important.  I know it's tough to be on the sidelines when injuries do happen but taking care of yourself is the best thing to do!!

Orthotics, huzzah! Still a little bit of left calf aching, but nothing like it has been. Only a short run, but hopefully this speaks well for the future.

Happy Friday all!

Last night's tempo run went pretty well, and I did a bunch of foam rolling and stretching after.  My calves and hips definitely get tight after my runs!

I'm doing well with my run & yoga goals for the month, but I'm a little behind on my lifting goals.  I'm planning on lifting after work tonight, and then maybe sneaking in a 1/2hr session over the weekend to help me catch up.  I may also increase my yoga goals for the month since I think it really helps my recovery when I keep a regular yoga practice.

I also agree w/Gogogo about adjusting your goals if necessary to make sure you stay healthy!  Sometimes it's best not to push it and risk further injury Undecided

congrats on the solution to the problem.  I am still having lower shin aches while running but also nothing like it used to be.  What kind of Orthotics are you using?

Just got in a 20 min run, off to update the spread sheet then class.

Got in a slow three-mile recovery run this morning. The weather has been warming up a bit, so that has been nice. Next week we might even hit 70F! Personally that's just a bit much for me.

The run felt great, better than I expected. Will do stretching later for sure.

Cheers everyone, have a great weekend!

My mom works for a podiatrist, so I have the benefit of getting in to see him for a cheap price. I have to pay for the custom molds and orthotics themselves, but he doesn't charge me any office visit fees.

A good day....got in a run in the snow in the morning and then hit the health club for a short cycle spin, weights and a swim. Tomorrow I will at least get in a swim. If the snow/ice is gone from the roads, I'll get out for a ride too.Have a great weekend everyone!!

Wow!  No kids, very nice.

That doesn't happen very often here.  Grandparents don't live close and childcare keeps a little pricy for three little ones.

Doesn't help with the monthly goals, but got a great group mountain bike ride in this morning.  Depsite the group pace, I was still able to get anaerobic on the climbs.  It was a beautiful morning.  We were treated to wild turkies, deer, coyotes, and even a bobcat.  The only thing not seen was a mountain lion, which is entirely fine by me.

Now the forecast is calling for heavy rain over the entire next weekFrown  Looks like I'll be hitting the pool over the next few days.  I'll have to try and squeeze my runs in whenever there is break in the rain.
