Master 1841 Sendai, Japan | Subject: RE: Hearts - February Challenge Hey Hearts (and you too Bill since you spend so much time here encouraging us to beat the Hugs and Kisses). I added another 30 minutes of so to my cycling time and am on track to wrap it up this week (per plan since I won't have bike access). Two more rides will do it and I'll likely end up doing 3. |

Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: Hearts - February Challenge Unfortunately my trainer didn't come in yesterday. So I've swapped out my love goal to be running instead of biking. . . I was equally behind in both goals coming into the weekend (actually more behind in running) but at least I was able to catch up somewhat. That'll at least allow me to participate in the challenge without having to worry about when my delivery is going to come! Anyways, even with my new goal swap, I'm still running behind in this month's challenge. But I have a run planned for tonight, so that should help get me closer! |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Hearts - February Challenge LeahDD - 2010-02-15 10:24 PM I love being in first place and that was even with me being behind. I am pleased to announce that I am now ahead of schedule. Even though I spent 52 miles on my bike on Saturday and 60 today, I don't LOVE being on the bike for hours and hours yet. I keep waiting for the day when 60 miles is not hard. It better come long before November (IMAZ on November 21). Way to go on the bike. You don't need to love it come Nov, but you sure do need to do it. Keep up the training and you'll do great in Nov. |

Great job on the bike Dan. Go over, you never know when the challenge coordinator feels nice and allows a few extra percentage points. |

Extreme Veteran 574 Southwestern Ontario | Subject: RE: Hearts - February Challenge Did a 5K on my lunch, so add 3.1 miles to the spreadsheet. Woot! Back on track. Hubby called me to apologize for being a jerk (ahhhh). Also...may have half way sorta decided to do an Oly in September. We'll see how the next couple of months of training go, but the 2x balanced plan on this site looks very doable. What concerns me is it is way fewer hours per month than the 3x plan. Why would you do the 3x if the 2x is enough to get you ready? I am still very new at this. |

We had a super yummy late breakfast which is still sitting like a brick in my stomach. Boy, it was good, though! Hope everyone is having a good day! |

Yeah...I don't want to be able to JUST get through it dragging my butt. I want to feel good at the end. I notice the times alloted for the workouts are the same, there are just fewer of them per week. 25 hours vs. 17 hrs in month 1, which over a month is not really that much extra per day. |

Extreme Veteran 574 Southwestern Ontario | Subject: RE: Hearts - February Challenge I don't want to boast , but I just noticed this in my training log today and was so excited by my accomplishment, I thought I'd share. I just started running last year and did a sprint in September. I have now run the same number of miles so far in 2010 as I did in 2009 in half the time. I'm clearly making up for lost time on the posting from weekend. |

I notice the times alloted for the workouts are the same, there are just fewer of them per week. 25 hours vs. 17 hrs in month 1, which over a month is not really that much extra per day. I loosely followed the 2x plan last year, and was able to do 3 olys over the course of the summer (1 in June and 2 in August). . . So it's not like you'll finish *just* getting by (I finished all my races strong, recovery was great, and I kept getting faster for each race I did). I'm sure if I followed the 3x plan, I could have had faster times, but then I may not have had time for other things in my life or I may have gotten burned out from all the extra training. I think if you have the time & energy to do the extra workouts, go for it, but 2x/week for each sport is more than enough to get you through the finish. (Heck, I only swam 1x a week just because I didn't want to swim any more than that!) |

Extreme Veteran 574 Southwestern Ontario | Subject: RE: Hearts - February Challenge Kendra, I think I do love running now. It's not so difficult anymore... Missy, thanks for the input on the Oly program. I agree that 3x seems excessive for my goal and my lifestyle. I have a family and I play baseball in the summer, so I'm a busy girl. I usually take a course in the summer, but I've decided to take this summer off. |
