Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Joe, thanks for the heads up regarding chlorine and wetsuits. I knew that, but have been unable to get to the beach and wanted to try the fit and feel of the suit while swimming. So far so good, but not planning on using it in the pool again. Hopefully will get 2 OW swims in it before my Nov race to get comfortable. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for asking Joe. Temp has been ok here still but slowly warming up. I like the heat so not complaining. Two 'A' races for me this season. One at the start of January (will be hot) and then the busso 70.3 again. Hopefully a few little sprints in between. Question for the group- who is going to win tomorrow in Kona? I would like to say crowie but not sure. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Swum with Dallas Aquatic Masters today in a 50M outdoor pool. Pretty crazy fast swimmers in the pool (I was swimming in the 3rd slowest out of EIGHT lanes). Seven and eight are reserved for State Champions and Olympic wannabes, so you could imagine... @Joe, my goal for IMFL is first and foremost to finish. I respect the distance and I know that a LOT happens in a day, some things within your control (pacing and nutrition) and some that are not. The Ironman distance is monumental, regardless of how flat or hilly it is. If I am having a good day and everything unfolds happily, I am gunning for under 11. My goal is to beat the sunset, which is pretty early in Florida that time of the year. Before 5:50 I'll have daylight if not overcast. Andy S 5/B 8/R 5 Rest 2 Total 18 19:57:21 |

I wish I had any faith in the Lions to even trash talk, but Barry Sanders retired and I am still waiting for the second coming. I went to Michigan State and they will take away my diploma if I cheer for Michigan |

Hopefully will get 2 OW swims in it before my Nov race to get comfortable. As a group FYI - I believe that the new DeSoto Green Goma Technology wetsuits are fine in chlorine. It is a rubber made from limestone vice petroleum. I am not an engineer so no idea how that works.... |

My dad had his Hi-i Stereo hooked up to the roof antenna so that he could get WJR all the way down in Louisville - used to listen to Tigers games in the basements. Now Michigan Football - that's a different story - GO BLUE!!! |

Joe - is your wife similar fitness level? I keep trying to get my wife to run with me but won't because she states that I'm much faster...even telling her that I run slow these days for rehab and just general training philosophy doesn't work. What's your trick? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() @Joe- i'll be taking it easy for another week biking and swimming while I'm nursing tendinitous in my left 5th metatarsal. Not the first time I've dealt with this but it's been almost 4 years since the last flare up. Maybe a 10k before year's end if the foot cooperates |

Actually she's a decent runner - Half Marathon in sub 2hrs and 5K in 7:50s. She complains that I run too fast, but her standard pace is 8:50 - 9:00, which forces me to run at MAF. It has taken a number of years to get her comfortable with the idea of running together. Now that my kids are older it is a lot easier to leave them by themselves and go for a quick run. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() @Joe, thanks for the comment and with your level of fitness and current training, I look forward to seeing you crush the Harrisburg Marathon very soon! Today a good long run of 19.5 miles in 2:53 with some good climbing at the end as training for NY. I was happy with my run today since I was coming out of a cold, but felt really good during the run and actually felt like I could had kept on going for several more miles at a good pace at the end. Tomorrow morning rest day and off to China! Thanks Coach E for my training plans and hope you had a good long ride today! Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() When someone says 'ironman' here, for most people it means surf life saving competition. While triathlons are popular, surf life saving competitions take the limelight. This morning I rode the bike 20k to Coolangatta beach to watch the annual Coolangatta Gold race. Awesome weather, hardly any surf to battle through.

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Feeling fit and strong! Ran steady at sub 8:30 pace today and the variation of HR was about 4 beats from beginning to end (disregard the crazy numbers in some parts, strap went nuts). I am SO ready... Andy S 5/B 9/R 5 Rest 2 Total 19 22:04:08 |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Did what might end up being my last long run for IM AZ today, 18 in 3:08. Run felt pretty good, probably a bit faster that what I'll be able to do on race day. I started to feel fatigued around mile 13, then by mile 15 I got a second wind of sorts and felt strong until the end. I'm planning on running 13 each of the next two weekends then begins the taper until race day, does that seem like enough?
