Pool closes at 1:30 today, and guess who just got out of a meeting that was supposed to be over an hour ago?  This girl!  Grrr.

I will be making it up tomorrow though.  I wish I could get in 4 swims/week, but my schedule is just not okay with that I guess.  Darn lap pool times!

Men crack me up.   I was at the pool yesterday when a pretty woman in a bikini walked by.  It was so funny to see every male head in the place follow her.  Most of them didn't even look like they were conscious of what they were doing.  You guys truly are slaves to your hormones.

What are your plans for IMTX?

pre-race (like todays pre-ride) perhaps some waffles, eggs, home fries, 3.5 pieces of toast, coffee.  too bad the marietta diner ain't in texas.   it was on diner's, drive in's and dives though!

see kyla,  i'll talk nutrition.

a very rough estimate of what we burned on todays ride and run to is  >8000 calories.  so we're good,  right?

Thanks Everyone for your kind words!!

Yesterday there was Ladies Night at the LBS, for Trek/Bontrager stuff.  Lots of stuff were given out. I won a base layer prize.  A lady won the free entry to IronGirl Lake Las Vegas. She said that she doesn't do triathlons, she just rides her bike.  So I felt bad, and traded my prize with her.  Little did I know, it said, "Good towards NEW registration only".  Uh oh.

So, I emailed the contact person, and I heard back from the Trek Representative, and she was more than happy to "replace" that prize with something else of my choice.  Inform RL Saddle, Jersey and shorts, or WSD Cycling shoes.

Knowing that the prize is around $100.  I was actually on the lookout for cycling shoes, but I feel that it's a bit risky to buy shoes without trying them on, and nearly impossible to return (sure I could get the hassle of selling them, but I got small feet, so it'll be a smaller size).    I *JUST* bought the exact same saddle to try (will explain about it in my next post).  So I got the Jersey and the shorts.  I only have one shorts that fits (weight loss), so it's nice to have another one!

Meanwhile, I got a free entry to IronGirl.   Anyone want to do this race in a month? ;-)

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: Yes, but I can't afford, nor do I have time, to fly out to Vegas at the end of April!  Now, if the entry was for Racine or for Seattle, I would seriously consider it...

And NICE work on the free gear!!  I never win stuff like that!

Kinda related, but kinda not.  Do any of the women in here train in a two-piece?  I have a Zoot two-piece that I wear for all my training, and I've only recently been noticing that I am the only female I've ever seen training in a two-piece.  Is that weird?

I've tried on one-piece suits before, and they just never seem to fit me.  They always seem too short in the torso.

Bought new tires to replace the ones I had (blowout, nice lovely vertical gash. Boo!), got GP 4000 in Red, new tubes (which needs to be returned....too short for my Carbones), and new saddle to try.   I can return the saddle within a month after trial.  Bontrager RL WSD saddle.   I rarely hear about that saddle here.  I'm almost sure it's not made for tri bikes, which doesn't matter to me.  I have a Terry Butterfly, and lately when I go on rides, I could feel my sitbones/ saddle area tilt over side to side.  I lost nearly 30 pounds, so I don't have as much cushion there as I used to, so the saddle used to pretty good, however, now, it's not so much, and I'm SO frigidity on it sometimes.

I was told to "try" these because the Terry Saddle that I have has a nice curve throughout the back of the saddle. The Bontrager doesn't. It's pretty much flat across.

let the saddle testings begin. LOL.

One-piece for all serious swimming for me. I do have two bikini TYR suits that I use on vacation (scuba diving), but they're not quite comfy enough for me to swim seriously in. I'd for sure do a Hawaii OWS in 'em, though! I have done light swimming in tankini-type suits, and those work fine for me. Do what works, I say!! When it comes to racing, only two pieces for me (tri tank top and tri shorts). I love Zoot shorts and tops, although my Sugoi tri shorts became my new favorite last year.

I have a great 2 piece from lululemon that I absolutely love.  Only wear it on vacation, for snorkeling or at the beach in Hawaii...it just seems to slow my already slow self down when doing laps.  I like my Speedo endurance one piece for lap swimming.  I've tried TYR suits on and they are too short in the torso for me, as well.

Hello everyone!

Sorta non-Tri related - After 4 weeks and 30+ hours of drawing/coloring, I finish my series for the final exam.  We had to create three drawings of one or more figures. Each of them needs to look like it can be a standalone picture, but be correlated together as one whole.  So naturally, I picked Triathlon.  Swim, Bike, Run.  They call can stand alone, yet when they all together, they make a triathlon.  See if you recognize one of them...

I normally HATE Life Drawings. I could never do "well" with live models, but from photographs, I do pretty well. :-)  All of these are done with colored (gray scale) pencils, posterized style (using only 4 colors, and tricks your eyes thinking that everything is "realistic" - but in reality they're blobs of one color).

My teacher was really impressed and was more than happy to try to get two of them (the swim and the run. The bike was a bit weak) up for the coveted display cases.  I was really surprised with the swim because I thought that was my worst.  I'm a happy camper.

Great drawings!

off to Singapore tonight.  I hate red eyes to Asia.  Leave midnight tonight and don't get in until the mid afternoon on Monday.  Literally 1.5 days gone.

have a good weekend.

Tuffli, hopefully we get to meet.  I should also introduce you to a great friend of mine, he's a workout machine.

I am inspired. Watching my alma mater kick some swimming @$$ at the DIII National Championships in Knoxville. Streaming video. They are swimming the mile now -- that was my event. So cool. The swimmers are gorgeous and fast and I just want to go get in a pool and swim my little heart out. But alas, I gotta take a kid to a baseball game and a kid to a soccer game and feed the kids and exercise the dog and eat and and and....

If anyone like watching stuff like this, go to http://www.ncaa.com/liveschedule

The mile is the poor step-child of swimming. All heats except the final one are swum during the break between trials and finals when the teams head out to rest and eat. The distance swimmers stick together and take care of each other. There is no glory in being a distance swimmer, ha!!

Great week, Fatty. No bikini pics. I've had two children.

My favorite brand of suit is TYR....I guess now I know why!  I can't imagine trotting into the pool in a two piece....I'd feel weird...most chicas wear one piece suits at the three pools I frequent.  When someone strolls in with a two piece (usually padded!) they are trolling...

Beautiful today in Madison....balmy 7F for my morning run with a steady 15mph wind to give me that nice chapped look.  I could b$tch, but I'm just happy to be able to run.....Gotta love the Midwest in March.
