Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() To follow the critter conversation, it's been raining cats and dogs here for the last two days, and we might get a tropical thunderstorm over the weekend (it's October!). And my tally is Bike 2, Opossums 0 (still surprised neither ended up in a crash). I have a nasty head cold, have my 4 yr old home sick with an ear infection, and my wife threw out her back. Between that and the rain it has been difficult to keep up with the challenge. I will try to go for a quick ride at lunch, race is coming soon and now is not the time to rest. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() dangremond - 2012-10-23 12:08 PM Sorry...late to this compression sleeve topic. Do all the users of them (1) think they help during the run and why, and (2) think they help in recovery and why? I'm wondering if you think the benefits are actual or more of a placebo affect? Mitch, I don't think it's a placebo effect for me. I first noticed the benefits of compression when I wore tights last year to train for and run my first HM. I noticed I didn't feel as bad running nor recovering when I ran in the tights. I am currently doing more weekly miles than I've ever done in my life and my legs are really feeling pretty good. My feet get darn tired and achy, but the legs are fine. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Was able to squeeze a ~13 mile ride. Ernestos' bike workout again (2:30@90RPM; 1:30@95; 1:00@100; 1:00 rest x4 - 4:00@hard gear; 1:00 rest x4); Ernesto, you are right, that's a fun workout, and the windy conditions made it even more fun. Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 12k run last night, very unusual for me as I can't sleep well after that. This morning - 55 min ride. Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Today I rode my last semi-intense workout on the bike prior to Florida. I feel fit, strong and fast. Pushed some serious watts and averaged very low HR. Andy S 8/B 14/R 11 Rest 4 Total 33 42:08:05

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Today a 48 min run at easy pace and pretty boring (no snakes nor any game, other than almost being runned over by a motorcycle). I also finally hit the pool again after a couple of weeks for a 2000m interval swim (15x100m). Andy S 8/B 14/R 11 Rest 4 Total 33 42:08:05 |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Question for my long distance peeps: Is it normal for your feet to feel achy (like when you walk around an event all day) when you are first starting to add more mileage? If so, what do you do about it? If not, what should I change? I alternate my shoes and none have high mileage. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Matthew, nice angle. Although the bird on this clip looks like a remote control toy... Scary birds at this time of the year, I hate them, attacking cyclists is so stupid. Fortunately I noticed local council removed some of the most agressive ones. Good call. Short bike this morning: 24k in 57min on MTB. No snakes (thanks for the tip btw, Matthew). Andy S 8/B 14/R 11 Rest 4 Total 33 42:08:05 Edited by markz 2012-10-25 3:20 AM |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Three hours on the trainer yesterday. That was slightly less than fun. Snow on the ground this morning, not much though. Hoping to get out for a semi-long run today then some time in the pool. Maybe another hour on the trainer, but I had some pain in my left kneecap after yesterday's trainer time, hopefully the diligent icing last night helps. Andy S 8/B 15/R 11 Rest 4 Total 34 45:08:05

My left foot is achy every morning for about 10 mins when I first get up, then it is fine for the rest of the day. It never hurts when I run. JoeP's comment about the shoes may be valid as well. Check your gait and wear patterns on your shoes. Might be time for a different shoe. (or no shoe?) (category-m-seeya.jpg) Attachments ---------------- category-m-seeya.jpg (6KB - 6 downloads) |
