Wetsuit Rules
o Wetsuits cannot measure more than 5 mm thick.
o Wetsuits may be worn in water temperatures up to and including 24.5 degrees Celsius/76.1 degrees Fahrenheit. Athletes who choose to 
wear a wetsuit in water temperatures between 24.5 degrees Celsius/76.1 degrees Fahrenheit and 28.8 degrees Celsius/ 83.8 degrees 
Fahrenheit will NOT be eligible for awards, including World Championship slots. Wetsuits will be prohibited in water temperature greater 
than 28.8 degrees Celsius/ 83.8 degrees Fahrenheit.                                                          
o Full wetsuits are permitted (arms and legs covered).
o Prohibited Wetsuit: De Soto Water Rover

The race reports I was reading about the 70.3 were about 74-75 degrees so I was thinking that we may be looking at a non-wetsuit swim.  My first in IM!  It'll be interesting to see how it compares to my others.

When we swam out around July 4th week, there were hot spots and cold spots.  I think I remember reading somewhere that they take multiple measurements and average them out?

I'd be decently happy if it was non-wetsuit, though it would hurt my time, and we wouldn't get that special attention by the strippers.  It's one less thing to worry about.

btw, your not obsessing over the weather yet?

I've haven't had time to obsess over the weather yet -- I've spent all my time obsessing over not getting injured in the last few weeks.  Every time I feel a twinge or some tightness, I think "uh oh". 

But now with the taper starting, I can obsess over the water temp, the weather, how much weight I'm gaining during the taper, whether I should swap out my bike chain at the last minute, what to have for breakfast on race morning, how many salt pills to take on the run, whether that small tear in my wetsuit will become a big tear on race day, where to seed myself on the swim, and why my favorite socks have started to give me blisters.

Have I missed anything?

haha...Sounds like your going to have a pretty busy taper.  Now you got me thinking about my chain.  As for your socks, if you trained in them with minimal to no issues, that's what you should use.  Maybe your socks need to be replaced..Do socks get worn out?  Who knows...

Temp of air and water are out of our control so try to focus your mental energy elsewhere.  I say that as I have a weather app of mont tremblant on the home page of my phone and computer.

One of my biggest concerns is am I going to be able to sleep the night before???!!!

I would guess that the water will be cooler by race day. Looks like they'll be having some nice cool nights which should cool off the water temps.

But we'll see right? 

For what it's worth...yesterday the forecast was for rain and mid 60s with a low of 44, today it says sunny and 72    :-)

Anyone know what the mosquito situation is like in Mt Tremblant?  I am sure I will still be out on the course at dusk and wondering if I will have to deal with pesky mosies too!

On a more fun note, is there a BT meet up planned?

Regarding Mosquitos, I plan on having bug spray in my T2 bag.  Just in case...

BTW....I have a real good feeling about the weather Aug 19...

joefrommarathon - 2012-08-09 10:21 PM Water temp was 74 at 10am this morning..rained all day...also kind of cool today in comparison to yesterday...bugs? have not seen any...I am at the highest condo elevation I have seen, beside a waterfall on an end unit surrounded by trees that touch my balcony and I have not seen a bug even while outside cleaning the crap off my bike after the ride around 7pm tonight. Just train well and rest well. Everything else will take care of itself or turn out not to be that important.

Thanks for the update.  Are they posting the water temp somewhere?

I'm not worried about the podium or Kona.  I'm more worried about staying afloat!

Sweet thanks!  It's showing 76 as I check now.  Ugh, what I don't want is me deciding it's too hot for one, and everyone else wears a wetsuit. :-)
