Welcome Debbie.

Thanks for the spin class info Julie, I hate the first night of any class ! lol  I will do as you suggest, speak up LOUDLY and let the teacher know I am VERY new !

So maybe a pair of the bike shorts with padding is a good idea ?  I can't imagine how bad my hiney will hurt.... OH MAN......I hope the girl bits don't  hurt too !!!

Now a broken leg from sledding ! man that was brutal, I had a visual you poor thing !!!!!

If your spin class is an hour or less (with the seat nose level and not pointing up) you can be fine with trishorts. I don't recommend loose shorts because it may cause shafing. Also, if (and that is a big if for spin classes as they like to make you pedal in the standing position) you can ease the pressure by standing and pedalling in an upright position for a few secs. A tip: put more resistance on the bike when you need to stand up, it will be easier to bear weight on the pedals while standing.

let us know how it went !

Wow!  Lots of great reading to catch up on.  Going down a hill on a mattress sounds like fun - that would certainly raise some eyebrows here in Japan.

I got out for my first swim of the year today - 1500 meters - it felt good to be back in the water.   Due to a pulled muscle in November and some family related travel (new granddaughter was born in mid-Dec), I think I only swam twice in the past 2 months.   I expect my muscles will remind me of that tomorrow.   I am planning to either get out for a ride (weather permitting) or do some time on a health club bike tomorrow.

Note that there is a video/article about using rollers.  I have not looked at it and I have never used rollers (gotta buy a real bike first and that is on my to-do list).

Hi, my name is Debbie

I have been married for 26 years to my High School Sweetheart.  We enjoy travelling the world together and working out.  I would like to join your group, to get into shape so I can participate in a super sprint triatholon on my way to getting to my ideal weight and size.  I look forward to working out!

Yeah Debbie, you made it!!!!

Hi Amy...it is a beautiful sunny day here at the beach. Hope you and your cute family will be able to enjoy it near your home!

We played outside this am. Then I was able to get in a nap time run! Have a safe trip home!

love it...and cracks me up to hear naptime run...even though I know you mean while your kids nap....others may think you only dream about running...hehe

That sounds like a nightmare to me!

haha - Im feeling your pain!

brrrrrrrrrrrrr that is dang cold for this gal! I grew up in Texas...and speaking of which...want to borrow the ten gallon hat, my dingo boots or that huge silver buckle...I have a few! they may be dusty cuz I have not been able to drag my dh who HATES country music with a passion to any country western bars or clubs...and to think I was one bad arse two-stepping, three-stepping, swing dancer....but I am sure it will come back...sounds like a shitkicking good time! Id love for you to send me a link....OH yeah...I was in a few rodeos back in my day....my friend barrel raced and we would get out of school to ride two of her horses thru Houston city streets to the Astrodome where they held the rodeo back then....was a blast and can not tell you all the wrecks that almost happened from the people who would see two girls on horses riding down the street. LOL!

Barrel racing! Wow- you are multi-talented! My hubby and I aren't big fans of country music either but they always have some great artists lined up (I think this year is Kenny Chesney, George Strait, and Taylor Swift) and it is a fun time. If you ever think about coming up this way...Banff is stunning in the summer and the Stampede is a blast. Check it out! http://calgarystampede.com/

it is indeed beautiful! you are a lucky girl...that is once it warms up! I lived in Alaska...and as pretty as it is there...I only want to visit...not live there. I am a warm weather gal. Stay warm....andhehe

Hey Dan...GOOD JOB getting back in the pool! 1500 meters is great! are you sore like you thought?

grandaughter! congratulations!

have a great ride or core training today...stop by and let us know which you did!

as for the mattress on the slopes of Tahoe...we were at first very disappointed that once we took the time to get it all blown up...we all hopped on it and it did not budge...we moved it down the hill a bit to a steeper spot...still didnt budge...finally we took all the sled and round plastic sleighs we had to use...stuck them underneath got on and flew like no other down the hill...it was a riot...we definitely had the attention of all around us! TOO MUCH FUN!

Julie, Love the mattress photo- way too funny. I can only imagine the looks of people as you and your pals are whooping up a storm going downhill!

Amy M, so very jealous of the number of great workouts that you have planned for today. Hope you enjoy!

Dan, congrats on the grandbaby and to gettting back into the pool- 1500 on your first day- only in my dreams would that ever happen or else over the course of 3 hours!

Amy, Hope the kinder orientation goes well! So fun and scary at the same time....hmmm sounds like what the first tri is going to be like!

I am staring out the window- sigh back at school- and it has finally warmed up to minus single digits- but it will be dark by the time I get home. sigh.... My tri club does start tonight so I am pretty psyched to be back with the group....tonight we spin! So workouts will take some juggling- might need to set the alarm earlier to get in an AM workout, now that school is started and the marking will pile up again. I am just thankful that I can still access this site from school...Facebook among others are blocked to try to keep kiddies and teachers focused.

Hope you all have a great week ahead! Cheers

I ride a road bike. It's a 2005 Specialized Allez Comp that I bought as a frame and built up with Ultegra components. It's nothing special but it's a step up from the Specialized Sequoia I used during my first season of tri. There's a picture of it in my photo album, although it now has a new saddle and clip-on aerobars.

If dd is gonna do an IM, a tri bike would be great, assuming that the course isn't all climbing and assuming she'll have ample time to get used to it. Can I be your daughter, too?

That is a great looking bike... and from my past races and seeing some really amazing bikes out there. I know for a fact that is not the bike that makes you fast...but instead it is the piston! and when I speak of piston..that would be you. can I just say that I am glad that I will not have to ever race against you!

not sure about the IMCozumel course. have to go and see what the course is like.

do you like your clip on aerobars? I seem to ride a lot in the crouched position and wondering if I should give them a tri try.

I just took a look and the Cozumel course is described as flat. A tri bike would be a great on a course like that.

I think I'm faster in the aerobars but don't always feel comfortable/safe in them. I don't use them in cross winds, when climbing hard, or in turns unless they are gentle. They definitely take getting used to. I first used mine for a while on the trainer but still almost crashed the first time I used them on the road.

heck, I would feel guilty if my dd wrecked after buying her either clip on aeros or a tri bike. now the aeros would be great for me....I try and ride when there are no winds not alone cross winds or head winds, I do not climb "hard"...im a downhiller...and corners are scary no matter what on thin no tread tires....maybe I should by myself a tri bike....yah that's it! to heck with buying one for my dd....will buy my own! thanks for looking...can you find us a villa or two that are near to each other to rent for 20 ppl now? hehe
