Champion 5183 Wisconsin | Subject: RE: BT Swim Challenge no way, sue, keep on keepin on. Ignore it, it's all supposed to be fun and playful, and I know that you have been struggling with your hip for a long time-- I hope the guys are just playin' and were not at all trying to hit you while you were down. Keep swimming! As high as you are, you'll get dropped anyway, so seriously, IGNORE IT ALL, and heal, sistah, heal! -Hollis |

No need to keep it under any amount. Go as high as possible! Only the highest and lowest amount will get thrown out, so the higher everyone goes, the better! |

Coach 10487 Boston, MA | Subject: RE: BT Swim Challenge tsthomps I hope what you said it was only a joke. This is pretty much a fun challenge and that's about it. It doesn't really matter if we win or not. It is more about meeting and focusing on your personal goals/training in a fun way. |

Pro 3870 Virginia Beach, VA | Subject: RE: BT Swim Challenge It is about fun but it's also a competition...and it's supposed to be an individual CHALLENGE for everyone. Of course the women will come out ahead based on the rules we set down if they pledged and "average" month as their goal. But I have no problem if they are content with being average PirateGirl - 2005-05-23 5:44 PM jeubank - 2005-05-23 2:30 PM...this about fun... Exactly. Pro 3870 Virginia Beach, VA | Subject: RE: BT Swim Challenge No excuses here. I pledged a ~25% increase over my biggest swim month ever (and that was a 50% increase over my previous biggest month). Some of the guys obviously aren't performing up to their goals for whatever reason...work obligations, illness, other life priorities, whatever. The women, on average, are doing better compared to their pledges. Did the women pledge as aggressively as the men...I have no idea. It would be interesting to see a measure of how much each individual pushed themselves...like how much of an increase over your biggest swim month did you pledge. Makes no difference really as long as everyone got some motivation and built some additional fitness over the past few weeks. I know I'm a stronger swimmer as a result. Hell, I'm almost swimming IM workouts and I'm only doing Oly distance races all summer. |

I refuse to NOT workout because of a stupid challenge. I will contiinue to log my training. Just drop me from the list. Excuse me for trying to train with an injury. so SORRY I went over my goal and am at a 146% I'm just trying to get faster at something since I can't train my weak event. Ignore the jackazzes! You are doing the right thing. I applaude your effort to keep up a high level of training despite a miserable injury. The guys are major wusses if they have a problem with what you're doing. |

I know some ladies are getting way too serious! Relax! There is no need for that. Let's keep the trash talk friendly Regarding Joel's comment I think it was more related to see how much more each of us pledged compared to our highest month ever. In my case: Feb 05 was my highest month with 13,213 mts. Compared to my pledge that’s a 34% increase and a 67% compared to April total. The challenge was to push ourselves and help us with our personal training...right? Well that, and to see some skin. Unfortunately if our time doesn't do serious swimming it will be our skin! |

My pledge for May: 40,000 yard. This represents a 588% increase over my April effort and a 193% increase over my entire YTD effort. Any questions? Anyone? Anyone? Didn't think so... |

Veteran 301 Belize | Subject: RE: BT Swim Challenge Well I pledged 25,000 meters for May. You could probably say that I was aiming really high for this month, considering that I swam only 7350 meters in my previous best month but I'm really glad I took this challenge. I'm swimming much better as a result. So far this month I've swam 15500 meters. I've been increasing my distance each week. Last week was my best week ever. This week I'm aiming for 10 Km with 2 Km already in the bank. That should leave me with a total of 23500 meters and 3 extra days to complete 25 Km. My wife says I'm obsessed. I think she's right! |
