Artists are wierd...

I think a THEY think everyone is interested in what they do.

Singers sing thinking we want to hear them.  Poet's put up their writings thinking we want to read it.  Sculpters showing pics of what they made, and actors "acting" or performing as if we want to see that.

It's all a bit "showoffy" to me...  Oh well, I'm not an artist, so I guess that's why it doesn't make sense to me.

But your beautiful wife is a model and entertainer ....she has a wonderful talent and she shares it with the world, no? I don't think it's showoffy to share your talents with others. Even if not an artist of sorts ..we all want to share what we are best at with others be it a song a poem a race report or meeting your sales goals at work etc.

I think the venue is important.

If it's poetry night at the cafe, then go for it.  Kareoke night?  Belt it out.  If it's an art festival, show off  your work.

But posting you poem at a engineering firm, or belting out a song at a triathlon like people are there to hear it...  Just is a bit of "look at me".

On the flip side.  Writing a race report on a tri site.  Sure.  Giving people your race report at a poetry reading?

Oh! RR as an interpretive dance! I'm probably going to have to do that.

I don't think he's talking about people with talent. He's talking about people with no talent. Like Adam Sandler. But dang he's funny.
Well,if that's the case then I agree!!!!!
Are you available to chat? I must text.
Yes. I just texted you. I'm feeling no love on our exchanges these days. I need attention....even whilst texting.

There's love in our exchanges. If you don't love me back, then I shaln't love you whilst texting!

OK.  What's your call TAN...  I'm I bad or do you agree:

I was in Hawaii for the honeymoon and we did the Mt Haliakala (sp?) tour to watch the sunrise...  There was some christian youth group that went up too - so a bunch of holy roller christian kids.  And of course, as kids, their enthusiams grows in a group situation.  Mob mentality.  Feel safe to express themselves with all their friend backing them up.

So here we are, watching and waiting for the sun to come up over the ocean.  A truely beautiful experience you just want to soak in and reflect on god's work.  But the kids suddenly feel inspired/touch by god, I guess.  To start some huge group song praising god.  Singing LOUD...

So here is where I was bad (in my head).  I was PISSED.  I mean, I love the lord as much as the next guy, but to me, let people enjoy this moment how they want to.  Why impose your beliefs and do some loud, intrusive song, in a quiet and spiritual moment?  I felt like telling them to shut it.  But how do you do that and sound like anything but a devil worshiper?  Then I could just IMAGINE the feedback I would get "you need to be saved, blah blah blah..."

So, what I'm trying to say, even christians can eff up a perfectly good things!

Sucks because it's unlikely I will ever be up there again - and these kids were semi locals (they looked hawain)

mr2tony - 2012-08-16 12:54 PM The Blue Angels are buzzing my office. Cool. It'd be better if they were the Thunderbirds, though.

They were circling around when I went out to run at lunch . . . each time they passed I'd find myself running faster.  Either they cause adrenaline or I've got a really warped sense of competitiveness.

I'm pretty sure I would have been ticked off too.  If you are a believer, shouldn't that sunrise speak for itself?

i don't think you are bad for thinking that, i would probably be irritated, especially trying to have a romantic honeymooning moment and all.

but...devil's advocate...the bible is all about singing praise, lifting your voice in worship, etc.  i can't fault those kids for wanting to sing worship songs at that moment.  i'm not personally one of those people, but some are.

i see both sides of it...

I get that.  I can't blame them...  But there is also that whole respect for others thing.  Can't sing outside someone's house 24/7 because you feel the spirit.

agreed - but they were out in a public place with no noise ordinances against it.  and it is just manners that if you go up there and there are other people you should probably either ask or just decide to pray quietly or something.

but christians and/or teenagers and/or most human beings don't usually have any manners...

This must be a tough weekend for you then.  I've been getting buzzed for the last half hour.  By jets, that is.  I wish the other . . . you know there seems to be several levels of innuendo in this place, one of them involves alcohol.

Hey TAN...  If you want/could.  Go to the "First OWS" thread in Clyde/Athena and say something nice.

I usually avoid those kinds of threads and say "who cares".  But this one touched me.  Maybe it was the pic or the "thank you", but it's not like the typical.

I realized what some of this about - being truly happy about acomplishment instead of complaining about stuff.

Bad combination.  So busy you work through lunch instead of workout AND have to run and get something bad like taco bell!

I guess I haven't gone yet, so I haven't made two mistakes...

But a crunchwrap supreme sounds SOOOOOOO  good right now.
