Congratulations on the wedding, that is fantastic.

As for me,

My Mom has turned IMLP into a make shift family reunion.  So it'll be me, my wife, my three kids, Mom, Dad, Brother, his soon to be, couple of Aunts, couple of Uncles, 3-7 cousins, Mother & Father-in-law, Sister-in-law, and a few more.

It's early Saturday morning on the East coast, some of you might already be out on the road.  Have a great and safe workout everyone.

Saturday night here and I had a slow 100 miler to 5k run to weedwacker to lawn mower to family pool time brick today.

Enjoy your day.

jazz82482 - 2010-06-25 8:57 PM In order to get my family to come watch the Ironman, Ryan (yeats) and I are getting married the Wednesday after, so they HAVE to come watch the race! It will be both of our parents and brothers/sisters with their families, plus some aunts and cousins that will be there cheering all day on Sunday. I know, it's a pretty sneaky way to have a rock-star support squad!! The whole week will be a big family vacation, which makes me even MORE excited for July!! One month!! EEeek!

I hope your feet are recovered enough for the walk down the aisle and the dancing to follow.

Congrats.

Big day today:  3+ hr bike while watching the Mets and Team USA, Daughter's 6th birthday party, and camping out for about 2hrs to make sure my babies get to see Toy Story 3 tonight.

The only downer is that in order to get this all done and help out with the party I went to bed crazy early and I'm back up at 2 a.m. to hit the trainer.

How was your Saturday training???

Very cool on the IM + wedding plans.  I bet you get a special shoutout at the finish line.

I'll be coming with my uncle who is also racing, both our wives, and a handful of friends.  We're all staying in a townhouse right by the transition area.

Lol, I know! That's why we're waiting until Wednesday- hopefully I can make it! We're getting married at the house we're renting, which has an awesome boat house directly on Lake Placid, and also means a lot less moving around while recovering

It's awesome that so many people are having a lot of family coming as well! Lake Placid is such a great place, I can't wait to be there again!!

And Kathy- it was Caitlin Snow that got married and won. I found out about her right after Ryan and I decided what our plans would be. I don't think I'll be as fast as her, though

I just saw this posted--the bike route has officially been changed:

http://www.ironmanlakeplacid.com/course.php

The bridge project on the Haselton Rd. section of the Ironman Lake Placid bike course will not be completed in time for the July 25 race. The 2010 alternate route will utilize 5.6 miles of Route 9N north from Jay to Ausable Forks as well as 1.0 miles of Haselton Rd. The Jay bike aid station (formerly positioned in the parking area just before entering the hamlet) will now be just north of the Jay intersection to be accessible on the way out to Ausable Forks and on the way back into Jay. The aid station at the Wilmington Fire Station will now only be accessible on the way out from the short Haselton Rd. turnaround. Please check back to this website next week for an updated course map.

Did 101 miles on the bike today... did 18 miles earlier this week... I can't believe my fitness right now!  I'm capable of doing these distances and not feeling like schitt!  I know it'll be different come race day, but I'm super amazed.  Months ago I was falling apart from training and now it feels like everything is FINALLY coming together.  Hope you all are having the same experience!

BTW, x2 on the BeginnerTriathlete get together question.  Husband and I are going up on Thursday before the race and staying at the community college up there.  I like hanging out with peeps.  I think last year you guys met up for some swims and at the pasta dinner???  I'd also like to hang out with people to watch the finishers at midnight, too (as long as I'm not one of them!).

This is the route I did last weekend.  It's not too bad.  The north of Jay addition is just gently rolling with a downward trend going out but an upward trend coming back - no enormous hills though - the only bummer is that you then turn straight into the Wilmington climb (which was always the hardest part of the course for me and this isn't going to make it any easier!  On the plus side the 1mile out and back at Haselton rd doesn't reach the first main downhill so you don't have to climb back up it on the way back! (that was my second hardest part of the course - seriously!)

Wow! Congratulations - so exciting!

My parents are flying over from the UK - I just kind of coordinated their visit with the race and a week vacation up there afterwards   It will be the first time they've ever seen me race.  Of course that means hubby and 2 kids get to come too.

This makes the bike course slightly easier as the new section on 9N is mostly flat while haselton rd has some rolling terrain.

i know it!  I was so happy to hear about the elimination of the hill on Hazelton....that kicked my butt last weekend!!

Look at this new course as a better chance to hydrate well before the climbs.  Maybe you would not need to carry so much water up the hill.

I am looking forward to the new course as well.

I like that turn up the hill at Jay.  It gave me a point to focus on.  I guess I’ll have to extend that point.

What I don’t get is there still is a 1 miles out and back on Haselton.  Couldn't that 2 miles be pluged into the trip up 9N?
