bummer....I was swimming today and my right hand hit the right hand of the guy in the adjacent lane. He was quite a bit bigger and heavier (also younger/stronger). Best case I have a bruised ring finger on my right hand. Worst case, I disconnected a tendon in that finger (top segment of my finger is not straight). I need to wait until the swelling goes down and see a specialist.

Doc did not object when I mentioned running and cycling (trainer) so it shouldn't slow me down too much.  It is interfering with my typing speed.

But your typing accuracy still looks pretty good!  Bummer and crazy to think how small little incidents can turn into a huge deal.  Hope it is just a bad bruise and heals up quick for you!

Meanwhile...

I'm home for a day, and tomorrow we leave for camping for the weekend. As I am packing up, I realize I have come full circle: A month ago I completed an Ironman. Tonight, I put Captain Morgan rum in my fuel bottle for easy transport to the camp site. Oh dear. I'll find my way back again, but I have a bunch more fun to have and slacking off to accomplish first. So please, put in some SBR miles for me, OK?!!

Happy trails!! I'll check in again when I'm home for a day (then we're off to Grand Cayman for some kid-free scuba!)!

As of today, I've been dry for a month.  Not one drop of alcohol has passed over my lips.  I don't know if I should feel good about this or not.  On a positive note, I haven't had any alcohol-induced falls off my bicycle in a month (very long story).  But I keep asking myself, "Is it worth it?  Really?"

19 miles DONE...the longest since IM last September!!  Woo-Hoo!  Went pretty well too.

No Racing for me, but I'm participating in the Dairyland 2.4m swim on the IM Course on Sunday (assuming the lake is swimmable).

No racing for me this weekend.  Tomorrow will be a tough day for my Kris and her mom...burying her fathers ashes.  Hopefully it will bring a little bit of finality (is that a word?) to the "events" surrounding his passing and help everyone to start focusing on the good memories.  In general they are doing well, just have good days and bad days as expected.

After that, we head to Long Island.  The kids are spending the week at a beach called Kismet on Fire Island with my family.  Kris and I will spend 2 nights then back home for a little time without the kids (working unfortunately but will have some good QT in the evenings).

Good luck racers.  Be strong and be safe!

I'll say this much.  Filling your bicycle water bottles with gin and tonic only SOUNDS like a really good idea.  And then stopping at the liquor store to buy more gin and tonic because somehow they've become empty is something you KNOW is not a good idea, but by that point you really just don't give a d@mn.  Sometimes when you're down, you should just stay there! Maybe weight. Definitely not IQ. Too many zeros Wink.
No racing for me this weekend. I am working more closely with the people I am coaching now as they are into their last (month) push before Ironman 70.3 Muskoka in Sept.
Haven't had much time to post here or even my workouts. (but I have been working out and will race several more this year) I have been spending a lot of time building my personal training and coaching business. Also helping to put together a cross country Half Marathon here in Guelph. Should be great.
For biking and vehicels: 1) Glad to hear there was no serious repercussions Jayne. We all hear stories of close calls and I have had a couple but overall I am giving a huge shout out to the drivers around my area. I have found them to be very courteous and considerate of cyclists or at least me. I also always try to do the same by riding on the side of the road and not in the middle of a lane. The city here has also been making more bike lanes and even have a couple of spots at stop lights where bikes can wait in front of cars for a turn. (yes we have a couple of lights up here in Guelph).
We have had some issues with ecoli in the lakes around here. Fortunately at Guelph Lake we have a section of the lake which is spring fed so we can still swim out there right now. The biggest issue we are facing right now is the number of Canada geese around. Hate swimming through the floating goose poop.
Good luck to everyone racing this weekend.

Pages, silly... pages!!!!!!

There has got to be a record for this MG... What is it?   Anybody got an idea?

Edit: I couldn't wait... A quick scan of the archives has this group with an unofficial record of 479 pages!!!  December of 2009.
I believe that was an overall MG thread record as well.

We've been slacken'... or more training these days!

ok dino.  here you go.  sorry i've been very busy.    ha!!!!!

i don't think we can equate wetsuits to disc wheels.  we see two peeps up here already saying they'll walk if MOO isn't legal.  (please don't tell em i said this but i think both of em are full of it because both of them are will rock 2.4 with or without a wetsuit

rules, if its a usat race then the rd's don't make the rules.  check out section 1.4 in the usat rules.  and btw if you do ever have a question you can't get answered about their rules, give the head honcho over at usat a call.  charlie's number is on the site or i have his cell if you need it.

how do we make it safer, dunno.  forums like this mg are a great place to start, when new folks come around and ask questions we can hopefully help them make a safe(er) decision.

i think we're agreeing on a lot here.  i just want to see you go sans wetsuit and beat up all the dudes wearing wetsuits.  that would make me smile.

and the most important thing is getting lost in all of this, that'll teach you to bust out the john daly questions on me!!!!   you're rockin' this for jeff.  AWESOME!!!!!!!!

suzy and kim.  i f'd up in my comments earlier.  i realize my comments about the two lines and the shame they had were complete bs.  i never thought about you two in that category (still don't) and i know there is no shame in anything either of you do.  shame on me.  i'm really sorry.  me love you long time.
