Since I am way overdue with photos, I'll share what I have (still very limited as my wife really didn't get too many photo ops during the race) before getting to my race report.

First shot is actually from my last swim/bike brick and it is probably the best shot.

This next shot is in T1 prior to the race.  I was getting ready to re-rack my bike for the last time.

This next one is about 200 meters from the finish line.   My wife finally got my attention for a picture (she had tried on previous laps, but I did not hear her - I was completely absorbed with keeping my legs moving).

And this last shot (my best side) is after I passed my wife.  No, I did not catch the guy in front of me.   I was happy to have someone to follow in.

Went back to the foot doc this morning: got cortisone shots in the right heel and left forefoot (base of 2nd toe), Rx for PT (first appt next Wednesday), continue the ice and ibuprofen, no running until at least next Saturday. Maybe I'll be able to run the tri on Sep13, maybe not. It is what it is.

Oh, and on top of this I'm feeling crappy, maybe flu-like, and afraid I've got swine flu.

Dan, those pix are super!  It's funny, though -- I had a picture in my mind of what you looked like, and you look totally different.

I think your wife did a great job catching you.  My husband tried really hard during my HIM in May, but spectating during a triathlon is really hard.  You watch and watch and watch for your person to come along, and then quickly (well, hopefully quickly) they are gone!  My husband even had a spotter when I was on the bike, and he ended up taking a picture of the person behind me.

No swine flu, "only" a sinus infection with fluid in my ears and throat involvement. I just started antibiotics so hopefully I'll be feeling better within a few days.

I thought I was having flu-like symptom and I've got "swine flu on the brain" like everyone else. Of course, "flu-like symptoms" cover so much ground that almost anything can make you fearful that you've got swine flu.

Hi everyone!

Dan...congratulations.  I loved the pictures. I agree with Cheri, you get this picture in your mind what someone looks like and then it's always nice to see what they actually look like.

Nicole...take care of that foot.  Hope it gets better soon.

Well, I leave early tomorrow morning for Penticton.  I am getting really excited...I hope to see our very own Yvonne up there (will take pictures if I do).  I haven't had a chance to go back on the posts, but just in case you guys don't have her bib number it's 2374.  You can follow her on www.ironman.ca.  I will be cheering for my brother (1644) and sister-in-law (2753) & our fellow BT'er Kathy (2686).  The weather is expected to be good (31 C) and hopefully no or little wind.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.  Will check back with you on Monday with hopefully a lot of pictures .

Hugs,

Karen

You're right Cheri.   That shot of me running is the best shot anyone's taken during a race.   I did check the professional photos last night and they got a great shot of me on the bike, but that is what they get paid for (and why they charge so much money for a pic).   In the swim photos (exiting the water) they took, I look amost as bad as I felt.

Cheri: I'll have to change my avatar so that people know what I look like.

Julie: yes, the bike is fantastic. It is still waiting for me to go faster.

Nicole: I hope you get well soon and in time for your Oly.

Karen: have a great weekend in the Okanagan Valley. Thanks for letting us know that Yvonne is racing. I know she was having some problems (foot or ankle?). I checked out the IM web page - looks like a great race and one to consider in the distant future.

good morning everyone!! Having a bite to eat before heading out for a 2 hr slug fest!! Goal is to be a bit faster for 1/2 mary- Detroit in October! Been havin a heck of a time since HIM with nutirion- was doing so well trying to stay away from sugar, and 'eating clean"- want to lose some lbs before the race- feel better and move faster! Perhaps I need to check the challenge boards, etc...

Congrats Dan on the race- great photos!

Hope your foot and flu is better soon Cheri! I find with injections- it  takes about 72 hr to kick in...

Hope everyone has a good weekend- my daughters are home (this was the weekend we were supose to watch IM Lou- my eldest  had to pulll out due to a stress fracture- foot- so will try and keep her spirits up thie w'end!!)
