Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Originally posted by aviatrix802 Scott, I just went back through some photos of races this past summer - that's helping me a bit. I'm just frustrated I'm not carving necessary time out to get my workouts in every single day. We leave for Utah for the holidays in 12 days and this week alone I have to get the glass repaired in my windshield, get the garage door opener fixed, fly 3 days, run the boys to various basketball practices in different venues, volunteer for 3 hours at a school event, make Christmas cards, create a photo scrap book for grandparents for Christmas, decide on and order everything for a complete bathroom renovation and order carpet for 2 bedrooms (the construction begins the week after I get back front door and Utah -yikes!), run a 3 hour test on my son's computer, go to a doctor's appointment, and hubby is gone all week. The weather is nice enough to get some chilly rides in too (still no snow here!) - need to get it done and enjoy it! This is my reality this week and it's okay, I will find a way to make some things work. Oh! Huge score a couple of weeks ago! We had a Sierra Trading Post open here (yet another reason to visit Burlington! Haha) and on opening day I earned some cash back, also had a gift card and hit a good sale and managed to score a Castelli Viziata winter cycling jacket for $9.96!!!! Score!! It just arrived at the store yesterday (saved on shipping) and I'm jazzed to pick it up! Nothing like some new gear to get you going! Cheers all! Stay sane and moving forward! Man...I need some new gear. Biked to work yesterday in a 4 year old biking shirt and a 20 year old jacket. Then again - Billy Baroo my bike is pretty nice! |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business I'm in the middle of a rest week and boy do I need it. My legs feel like rubber and my shoulder still hurts. So I hit the pool today for some aqua jogging and to keep my arms out of play, I played video games with my phone in a water proof case. Felt a little guilt about it but if it will make my shoulder feel better - I am all for it. God, I hope it starts feeling better soon (my turn to b!tch Scott) and hopefully they can can help me at my next PT session tomorrow! |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Another double today, run this morning (sprint intervals) and swim at lunch (389 & 390/400). I set my bike up on the trainer yesterday. Not entirely sure when I will have time to add that in with the swimming and running, but it is at least ready to go if I ever get the time. Of course, today it is mid-60s, sunny and absolutely GORGEOUS outside. It is the kind of December day that just begs for an outdoor ride. |

I've really enjoyed this challenge and am amazed at how far I have come in the last 12 months. I looked back at last year's Dec log and realized I only worked out 10 days. Alas, I didn't get home in time to go for a ride (still haven't had time to get lights for me and my bike). No worries though, we are supposed to have 68F on Saturday, so I'm guaranteed to have an outdoor ride then! |

462 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Gretchen you are totally going to make your challenge great job! I realized I get on here more when I am active because it shames me when I am not. So that being said my goal for next week is to log in everyday and to get my bike cleaned up and ready for the trainer. On a side note it looks like my beloved B2B has sold out to Ironman. Pretty unhappy about it but that is life. Still going to do it next year and I'll be able to contrast the race as none ironman and ironman. Edited by b2b14 2015-12-09 9:29 AM |

1941 , Vermont | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Scott, I heard they may be doing away with the full and only holding the half! That's kind of stinky! Rumor mill of course - but I guess we will know on the 16th when they make the announcement. |

It looks like, at least for now, they will have both the full and half. Edit: I can't get the photo to attach! It is a screenshot from the ironman website. Edited by drfoodlove 2015-12-09 7:38 PM |

462 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business I saw the screen shot. I think they will keep the full. It was one of the largest non-ironman events. What stinks is I could race a full for less than an IM half. I know IM is doing a 70.3 in Hilton Head, it was going to be this Oct but was delayed till next year. My guess is if they acquire B2B have Maryland and Hilton Head all in Oct that is a lot for east coast in 1 month. The good news is since Dave is looking for a legacy for Kona now maybe I can bribe him into traveling to NC I know Jenn mentioned it also so we could have a BDAS party. |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business 392/400- 2100 yds in the pool and I am officially finished with the 35 miles I was swimming for my mom!!! Now I just have to think up an interesting way to "present" her miles to her. Starting to get close to my 400th workout. I waffle between making it just the normal workout it should be (whatever that will be when the time comes) or making it something memorable for some reason (intensity, duration, sport, etc). Thoughts? |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Run (3miles; #393) and Swim (2500 yds; #394) in the books for today. Ordered some of my Christmas gifts last night--running vest with lights, light up running "spurs", a headlamp, and a lighted harness for the dog. I can't wait for them to get here! I'm so tired of waiting for the sun to rise to get out for my runs! C says I don't have to wait until Christmas either--I can have them when they get here! What do you have on your triathlon Christmas list? |

4 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Can I join this group? I am relatively new to Tri's. Last summer was my first year and I did 1 sprint then went to the Half Iron distance. I am a large dude 290 lbs and 6'1". Going that long on my first year was a huge mistake. Especially with no clue of how to train. |

256 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Hi y'all, Well....thanks for the suggestions a couple of weeks ago...unfortunately two of weeks in my life can bring lots more change. I think within a couple of days after my last post, it became apparent my eye was failing, and in not a good way....as in dying. On Wednesday of this week I had one last ditch effort surgery to attempt to save the structure (sight will be gone regardless), and now I'm just healing and hoping the eye survives. If not, removal will be down the road. So, back to complete inactivity for a few weeks, and then it will likely be as tolerated....and I think that will be the toughest part, as long as the eye is in limbo, exercise may be very uncomfortable. It is going to be tough to balance my priorities appropriately as I'm NOT handling being kept quiet very well. But I'm trying to think positive and talk positive. Hoping to stay a part of the group and keep moving forward next year. Sandi |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business 395/400--nice Saturday run. I pushed the pace this morning and was able to hold my goal pace for two miles. I probably couldn't have gone another at that pace, so there is still work to be done this off season! It is 70F here today--loving this weather and wondering again why I stocked up on winter running gear! |

New user 669 Madrid | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Sandi - sorry to hear about your eye, hope things go well. Your high spirits and your willingness to continue training and enjoying everyminute of it just motivated me from a lazy sunday morning to my long run today, thanks!! Gretchen - agree, difficult to keep your so beloved presents till X-mas day! My tri-gift-list includes a bike-fit voucher, and new pair of running shoes (trail running, will see how NB goes), and 2-3 bottle supports for the new tri-bike (two for the seat, 1/2 for the frame) Juan |

Entice is better. As in: Scott enticed Jenn and Dave to participate in B2B in 2016 by offering them ice cold beer at the finish and reminding them that the race would get them one step closer to a legacy spot. |
