Mmm...sausage with peppers and onions. And spicy mustard. I miss Fenway Park and the sausage guy.

When I was at NEU you could hear games from my dorm room window and if the wind was right you could smell the sausages.

Sprint_DA - 2008-07-17 10:46 AM I used to be a car person, but 5 years of working at a car dealership beat that out of me. I like the old Tacoma's, but the new ones are almost as big as a full size truck, and got almost the same mileage as my 4x4 Silverado. I was always surprised that the import manufacturers were so quick to jump on full size trucks and SUV's and got away from their image of good mpg. I heard two Nissan Titan owners talking at a gas station, not too long ago, talking about getting 13-14mpg average. That's worse than Dodge.
Back then people just said "that ain't a truck - it's a car with a truck bed on it". So you either get a truck or you get MPG, I guess.

The funny thing is, most people don't need a truck.  They need a car with a truck bed, or a station wagon.  If I had better resources (and the need for a vehicle) I'd buy one of the new Volvo station wagons, an Audi allroad, or a Subaru of some variety.  For some reason those strike me as almost the perfect vehicle.

I could never get on board with the looks of the SVX. That STi trans is $$$$ too because it can actually handle the drag-race clutch drops, much unlike the WRX trans, which decides to randomly disintegrate after a few, so I've read.

My cousin had the last STi and loved it, until it got totalled. So he decided to try the new EVO X. I wouldn't mind either, but he says the EVO is not really moddable, as it tends to break if you try to get stupid with it.

Well, yeah...that EVO is already pushing so much boost.  The extra .5 liter in the Subaru that lets them run lower boost levels is going to make it more mod-able.  Plus the better design of the H-4 engine.

I used to have a Legacy Outback wagon I effin loved... when it ran. Great in the snow, could carry all kinds of stuff, great rack on the roof. AWD tranny died at 75k and engine was 90% dead at 90k. The painful part is that we bought it at 65k.

I would drive a Honda Ridgeline. My buddies make fun of me for liking them... but they're pretty much the perfect vehicle.

Honda reliability, a bed to keep stuff, 4 doors like an SUV, the compartment under the bed. I could throw my dirtbike in the back and go. Load up a bunch of mountain bikes and haul my buddies. It would pull my jet ski, and I could put the tube, life jackets, etc. in the back.

Perfect!

Well, except they cost as much as a house in most parts of the country.

Bah, won't be around much again today....

I have to do a task all over again today - which pi$$es me off.

They gave me the project, but DIDN'T give me some of the unique requirements they needed met (ADA accessability).  So I designed something that works great, but then they come back and said that it didn't meet some of their specific needs.

Well, tell me those needs up front and I would have designed for them!

I don't mind doing work, but doing it twice because of someone else's oversight bugs the carp out of me.

They can be found used for a decent price.

Decent in your price range, must be. Mine is much lower.

That said, I gotta get my driveshaft swapped before next weekend's autocross. Hopefully I can bang that out Sunday.

Wow, I don't know anything about the older ones, but my dad's on his 4th in 14 years and they have all been pretty darn reliable.  But he always gets 5spds, so I can comment on the auto if that's what yours was.

This was a 97, I think. Even the Subaru dealer, and you pretty much have to have that tranny worked on at the dealer, was like "I have no idea why this is happening" followed by "that'll be $2000 today". By the time we got rid of that damn thing the engine was a month away from death. We traded it in to a Hyundai dealer towards an Elantra hatch. Unfortunately because we only had it a couple years and had to do the tranny and a couple of other things (didn't do the engine) we were pretty underwater on it. This was an auto - I don't want my wife driving a stick. She's sketchy enough with an automatic.

I had a Legacy Wagon as a "Snowboarding car". That thing ROCKED! It ran to like 200k miles til my brother trashed it.

Yeah, bought ours based on Consumer Reports ratings... took us two years to recover financially from buying that damn thing. What a piece of &@#$@#! that thing was.

Yeah, you lost me pretty early on that one. Plus, I had to actually do some work for a minute But I am back now, as long as you refrain from talking about cars. Food, however, I will talk about

Of course. Excellent television.

Word on the street is that they're casting the US version currently.
