   Congrats!!!   Got a date, yet?

Uh... yeah... I'll be going with the bride.

Actually, I've been told the correct answer is, "whichever date she wants".

mr2tony - 2009-07-27 8:47 AM Hi people. Whattup? Is this TAN day gonna suck as bad as Friday?

Now that I'm here? I'm gonna say yes....

Greeeaaaaat. So after my trip to the 'burbs yesterday I can say with confidence that `people are disgusting.' Carry on.

Oh yeah, sorry about that, I had the day off...

Seriously. I saw a family of four in which the dad was probably 350, mom was probably 250 and kids were about 150 each (at about age 7 or 8, I'd guess) carrying two HUGE bags of McDonalds. As we were standing there waiting for the train, mom reaches into one of the bags and pulls out a bunch of fries and just lowers them into her mouth from above and proceeds to chomp and smack her lips as she chews. It was one of the more disgusting displays of gluttony I'd ever seen. I had to move down so we didn't end up on the same car because I seriuosly would've ralphed.

You're dang lucky the ol' man didn't jump up and yell at you "GET IN MY BELLY!"

Won't get to post much today.  Catching up on the 200+ emails from being at RAGBRAI last week.

However, I will, as the week progresses, start to upday my logs from last week with daily tales of fun and frivolity.

Hope y'all have a good week.  Talk to you soon.

Sounds like a pinched nerve - either it will work itself out, but I would consider having it checked (so says the man who has had several pinched nerve attacks but never has gone to a chiropracter.)

I had a really bad experience with a chiropractor.  Don't think I'd go back unless I could find one that didn't want me on some kind of "maintenance" program.

I have a pinched nerve in my back that I got from stress fracturing some of the vertebrae.  Heat pad and alleve helps take the pain away (although it doesn't get rid of it completely for me).

Have you laid on your back and tried some stretching exercises, like pull one leg up slowly and holding the leg for a few seconds (bend the knee) keeping the other leg flat then slowly bring that leg down, then do the other leg?  There are other exercises, too.

http://www.back.com/articles-exercises.html

Some exercises can aggravate back pain. If you have low back pain, avoid:

  • Straight leg sit-ups.
  • Bent leg sit-ups or partial sit-ups (curl-ups) when you have acute back pain.
  • Lifting both legs while lying on your back (leg lifts).
  • Lifting heavy weights above the waist (standing military press or bicep curls).
  • Toe touches while standing.

i did 4 aleve between 6 and 10 am today and it did nothing...and you're not supposed to do more than 3 in 12 hours or something like that.  going home and laying on the heating pad sounds good to me.

I thought Aleve were Naproxen which was supposed to be bad for your heart.  4 may not do too much damage, but in 4 hours.  uh...might not be a good thing...
Make sure you post about every hour or we'll call the ambulance... heh heh.

I had similar pain for a while.  (Kinda like Sciatica?) I went to a Phys Therapist and she told me my Hammies were too tight and were pulling on my back muscles.  Since I started stretching them with  a rope or towel, no more back pain... Maybe try that.  Lie on your back on the floor, pull the rope or towel with your hands straight-up, then to the outside, then across keeping your back as flat as you can on the floor... Just some tips...
