Hey Ghoulies! I hope everyone's having a great Saturday. I had a very nice 29.5 mile bike ride today and am feeling pretty good about it. My goal for my race is a 20mph average. That may be a bit ambitious, but I'm pushing for it.

One thing I noticed today is that I'm getting better at keeping momentum going on rolling hills. I definitely won't be "king of the mountain" anytime soon but I'm making progress. Have a great day everyone!

Thanks Melissa! I won't be putting any polka dot jerseys on layaway anytime soon but yes, breakthrough sessions are sweet My main goal is just to hang with the Clydes on the bike so I can pass 'em on the run (hopefully). Sounds good on paper anyway!

wgraves7582 - 2010-04-03 12:22 PM Back from a run, swim, and an awesomely beautiful 37 mile bike ride on my mountain bike.  Buddies rode their ride bikes so I took the mountain bike so they could keep up with me

Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday, Billiam. Has the IT band been treating you nice lately?

Good gracious. That just plain sucked. Really.
Good: I finished it, I wasn't last, the beer was good

Bad: I did the 5 K instead of 10 K. My worst time ever. Allergies I have never had kicked in making breathing hard and making me have to abort Saturday evening plans.

Good: DH did it with me and he did great. Did I say the beer was good?

Did a 18.5km run today...it was mentally a challenge to force myself to do it this afternoon for some reason...Undecided...supposed to be longer...but that didn't happen...

Robin - there is NOTHING wrong with opting for the 5k, especially if you're suffering from allergies. I know that when mine act up I am a miserable mess, which makes it even more impressive to me that you toed the line at all. WAY TO GO!!! Congrats to the hubby too.

P.S. How did the beer work as allergy medication?

Don't sweat it Doc. Some days you just need to cut it a bit short. I can count on one finger the number of 18.5k+ runs I've ever done in my life. Be proud!

P.S. Did I read your log correctly and see that there was over 2200 feet of climbing on your run today? That's just beastly...

Well, I did it!  I am now a triathlete!  My race report is up if you want to read about it.  I did okay.  I finished 2/5 in my division and 36/48 in the women..... all mtn bike division.  I am okay with that for a first time and being in the oldest age division.

I am going to bed now.  Good night, Ghoulies!

Happy Easter Ghoulies.

Family up on the mountain for the sunrise service. I am home, sick again. Turns out it wasn't allergies yesterday.
Crud.
Going to bundle up and sit on the porch and have my own sunrise service here.

Yeah for toeing the line..for you and DH! So it wasn't your best race....it is early in the season and like you said allergies played a big part in it. AND there was beer!

I had the best day yesterday! The sweat training with Lauren and Tri Faster was tooooo much fun! We did a lecture first then onto the scale, into the pool for a 45 min swim...I so wish I could remember laps! I want to know how far I went! I felt great in the water. then onto the scale again (have I mentioned I hate the scale?) then Lauren did some math to figure out our sweat rate Mine is 1#/hour or 16 oz of fluid that I release during swimming, then into our bike clothes, I just wore my tri-suit the whole time, so onto the scale again, then on the bike for 1 1/2 hours keeping our HR in z2 and 3. 1.34 #/hour or 16oz/hour for the bike(Lauren lead a great class, gave pointers for while on the rd and also how to train more efficient on the trainer during the winter.  Then onto the scale again. transition to the run, on the scale then for a run it was supposed to be 40 min but we got a late start, I wasn't paying attention to my time and should have gone for a full 30 min but stopped at 28min! 2#/hr or 32oz for the run! I sweat a lot!!! Not that I didn't know this but didn't realize how much more I should be drinking.  It was a great training and I felt great through it all, makes me feel better for my longer races! Followed the training with great family time at the Bucks game!
