4 hours sleep, SHORT run, yoga, hour on trainer, son to first gymnastics this summer= no extra core for me today. So Day 9 is in the books with plain yoga. Right now I'm ok with that.

It wasn't hurting much, so I had thought I had pulled a muscle. Because of these core exercises, it has brought it to ,y attention again, aching even more than normal. This is especially true of the superman pose and trying to do the swan/cobra pose when stretching off. I have a feeling this is piriformis syndrome, brought on by me training with a dodgy right foot for the last couple of months. I have started incorporating the "lie on back, knees bent, left ankle resting on right knee, pull right knee in to chest" stretch at the end of my runs and core workout. Just wondered if anyone has anymore.

I call this one ^ "figure four stretch"  I think it's great too.  Do you ever do pidgeon pose? http://video.about.com/yoga/How-to-Maximize-Pigeon-Pose.htm I like it for both the hip opening and the glute stretching.

Thanks, just had a go at this and although I'm not a supple as the guy in the video, I think I got into the right position because I could feel the stretch exactly where the ache is. How long should I hold this pose for?

It's a 30 minute class so I get triple points on Monday's Laughing

Hold the phone...who the eff is Amy?

Noelle?  Is that you?  I am SO confused.

Yes, I'm Amy!  Amy Noelle Smile Noelle is the middle name that I always wished was my first.  Had I been clever enough as a child I would've had everyone just call me that.  Amy is just so vanilla.  No offense to any other Amy's!

I was wondering how long it would take before someone asked.  We were fellow mentees in another group.

I actually go by my middle name, Michael.  First name is Joel, and for some reason everyone used my middle name.  I have no idea why.  I do, however, get called "Joel Michael" by my mom when I'm in trouble.  Surprised

Looking good everyone!!

So in my mind, a double session is just a double session, regardless of length. I did 24 minutes x 2 of some pretty intense yoga last night. If I'm wrong about doubles, than that means I did a 4x session according to the Ten Minute/100 Day Challenge. BUT I'm going with my understanding of it. That means I have just one more double to catch up, and then a single to be even (Dare me to do a triple???). HOWEVER... the in-laws come to visit for a whole week today, and that kills my indoor workouts.

First tri was awesome on Sunday. I had sooo much fun, but I think that means I didn't go hard enough.

I'll get that pic in as soon as I technically finish week 1.

I try to do at least 20 seconds for all static stretches. I try not to guard (tense) and take the pose a little deeper on the exhale. Working with the breath is key.

Did day two last night... Abs are sore today but I'm liking this!!!!

Did each for 1 min 2 sets

Push-up with one hand on a Basketball, roll the ball back and forth between push-ups
Standard Plank
V-abs (too hard to explain, will look for video clip)
Alternating knee crunching thing (too hard to explain, will look for video clip)
Stability Ball Hand Off: Lay flat on the floor holding a stability ball, bring the arms and legs up together, "hand off" the ball to your feet, go back flat, keep going....

You are both too kind. Amy, I think you'll get some positive feedback if you do post your ab pic in the BT Girls thread.

Suuuure it is. I think you just want the ladies to "fight" back and post more pics. Good strategy. I think you should encourage more guys to use it.

Very nice start, and thank you (curse you!) for posting.  THis puts the guys well into the lead Ladies.  I resorted to a freakin arm pic to try to keep us in the running.  Not sure where to go from here...and, hellz no, I will not be posting any other body parts.

Um, Salty, a little help?

You could always repost that poutine shot if you don't have an abs shot handy.  I would be fine with it having a second home on this thread, and apparently Mike likes fries so...

I wish all of you success in getting some rockin' abs!  I'll check in if only for the photos that get posted .. that's worth the looksy!  Good luck!

Cool

Hey! You're not allo...fine, ditch your fellow Arizonian for "greener pastures" (no such thing these summer days) and happier muscles. Come in and poke and prod us. Often. Yes, often would be good. Wink

Mr. Switch's starting pic,

Wait, WHAT???  That's the starting pic????  Bravo, Mr. Switch!!!!

With her crop always around, I don't know if he had a choice Way to whip him into shape, Ms. Switch. hehehe

He doesn't train for anything in any capacity.  He joins me in these challenges (not the running or TdF, but the handstand one) because we keep each other honest and it's fun.  Sometimes he'll join me for yoga or knock out some pulls or pushes, but he's just built like that.  That being said, between farming and his job, he is one of the most active people I know.  He's a hardworker, my man, even without the crop or whip

Nice to be built like that! Yeah, farming/ ranch work is not easy. I think I'm still tired from unloading and stacking hay bales 20 years ago. hehehe

Are you a farm girl?

Jeez, first it was the crops, now it's the bales...we have a lot in common!

Farm girl at heart. Grandpa was foreman on a ranch til I was in my 20s. LOTS of time spent there. Had my horse for 23 years. Spent 4 summers working at a "cowboy" camp in Yosemite. I think I've pulled enough weeds, caught crawdads in ditches, moved bales, and mucked out tons of horse pucky to be mostly farm girl. Though I live in a town,  I can say with 100% certainty I am NOT a city girl.

Random thoughts/comments:

  • Do we have a before/after gallery yet?
  • I thought tri guys went furry-less, but...well, thank you all for not Innocent
  • What is our overall guy/girl ratio?
  • C'mon, fellow core ladies. We can't let the guys take this so easily! They need to have the smug grins wiped off their...belly buttons? (Ima dork, but all the pics are headless.)

Hey all,

Been doing my share of core WO (but not 100%) while on my extended vacation (3 weeks woohoo!) but internet connections is here and there so I'll update when I can.  Don't' have a strength update for the mobile app and not messing with google docs on the phone right now.
