Breathing to their "weaker" side slows them down. So they won't do that in a race. Swim races are decided by hundredths of a second. That is rarely the case for us triathletes. The goal for us is to finish the swim going as fast as possible using the least amount of energy as possible. It is not cool for us to get on the bike and have to recover from our swim. Thanks, Pam! I saw all the "posting activity" here, so I snuck in to see what was going on. Glad I did! Thanks! |

Extreme Veteran 330 Omaha, NE | Subject: RE: Rebellious Reindeer Thanks for the advice! I peeked in at Twisnibbens . . . what does that mean anyhow? 25 pages in 2 days!!! I see where all of the stars come from! I could earn one in a day? LOL! Beth, I LOVE your gift to the other teams LMAO! Pam, I can swim freestyle, but I’m sure it’s not pretty. I felt like I was going to drown the first couple times, but have been able to relax more lately and add onto distance - have done 500 yards continuous free. So I will keep practicing some bilateral breathing, I don’t think it can hurt my already bad form! I really appreciate the videos & commentary. I can’t believe how easy it looks when they swim! Makes me want to jump in a pool right now LOL! Renee |

Renee LOLOL Twisnibbens is sort of a challenge phenomena - we had a team in November that had a lot of really chatty people, and well, yours truly was the captain - anyway the group dynamics just kind of took off - and the thread just kept going it's really kind of a combination of people that were actually on the team, people that were on other teams but in the same challenge - i guess the long and the short of it is that it's a bunch of people that love to train and chat anyone and everyone is always welcome to jump in |

I think it was for the best, because my left shoulder is a bit painful today. Thank goodness I have my chiropractor appointment tomorrow. |

Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: Rebellious Reindeer I need to work on bilateral breathing, too. I can do it, but i know my form is different when I breathe on my left, and I already fight off the bad habit of crossing over midline with my underwater arm. I get dizzy, too. It's nice to hear that I'm not some weird nut. Well, that it's not weird to get dizzy when trying to breathe while swimming. |

Green...the color of money...just kiddin'...I spent all my money (and then some) already--and I've got more Christmas shopping to do. Guess I'll just have to love my green stars. What happens when I hit 100 posts? Do my stars all go away? |
