Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Happy Thanksgiving to the gang and let me tell you that I feel thankful for this group too, I have received a lot from you guys and I have new friends from this bunch, some of you have already met in person. Joe, thanks for the kind words. Be safe today and the subsequent days and don't overdo it with the food! I will pick up the slack for all of you and sacrifice for the group. Just kidding, I have been working on Chris' Don't Eat Like A Pig Diet™ and stabilized the weight, lost about 1/2 pound a month for the last five or so. No big losses but sustained, and quit gaining too. You have made huge progress during while being in this group, the sinergy is good and I love the fact that we are all so different... Many groups are the same level of athletes pretty much, or have a distance focus, all that is fine and dandy but I believe that this is better. Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Matthews - 2012-11-22 2:08 AM Mark- it's been a struggle. Today I had a brick session. I was on the bike at 6am and it must have been high 20's all ready. Last few days have been a battle. Try to stay hydrated and also energy is hard. I normally like the heat but for some reason it's not going as well at the moment. Is it normal for your HR to be 3-4 high in the heat? Heat can increase your HR by up to 10BPM, perfectly normal. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() ernestov - 2012-11-22 8:59 AM x2 on all of the above. I look forward to meeting more of you in the future. In the early days of this group I almost went my own way. I am very thankful I stuck around long enough to start listening to the knowledge here. All of you bring great stuff to this group. ![]() | ![]() Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I have been very blessed in life and all of you are part of those blessings. So thank you everyone. Been pretty quiet regarding updating to this forum. Sorry. Still on the injury train. Every time I run I still get this deep ache in my right calf. I've been trying to get another massage, but my massage therapist has been sick. Will try again this weekend. But I decided rather than to simply do nothing or cross train (which I have been doing some of), I was going to get back to basics, or dance with the date that brung me. That is, I ran two miles completely barefoot this morning. Felt ok, but again had the tight aching calf even when done. Icing it right now. I'm going to just start upping the mileage very slowly and see what happens, along with stretching and icing. Also bought one of those night splints that keeps your toes from pointing when you sleep. Boston training is supposed to start on Monday (20 weeks away!). |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Happy Thanksgiving to all, and I am also grateful for this group and the support I have received over the past 2 seasons (I can't believe it's only been 2). When I started with the group, all of the advice came from Ernesto, and he did a fine job! Now, it's amazing that a lot of us can share our experiences and what has and hasn't worked for us. Mitch, glad you decided to stick around. I would definitely give you the most improved attitude award My cold has moved into my chest and produced a cough, so I'm not planning to run until it's better. Wow, that is really harder than the tapering. I did manage to read "The Secret Race", what a great read! I also read Fifty Shades of Grey. Mitch S 2 / B 13 / R 13 Rest 3 Total 28 21:04:43 |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() x2 on everything that's been said previously. This is a great group and such a contribution from you all, especially Ernesto. Amidst the craziest work circumstances and stresses this year, I still managed to have my best year ever in triathlon and a marathon PR. I'm thankful for this group and the rest of my life good or bad. Happy thanksgiving! Mitch S 2 / B 13 / R 13 Rest 3 Total 28 21:04:43 |

Jackie, hope you get better soon and also glad that you stuck with us Mitch Today a 7 mile morning run and a 3000m swim at lunch which felt really good. I lost my USB dongle for my Garmin, so I cannot upload my workouts for now Mitch S 2 / B 13 / R 13 Rest 3 Total 28 21:04:43 Edited by sirgab 2012-11-22 4:12 PM |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() As everyone has said its been good to be part of this group. Being way down here feels a little disconnected sometime but learning heaps all the time. Thanks Ernesto about the HR. How then are you meant to keep it under MAF. Long run on Wednesday and then a brick yesterday. The run was a battle, heavy and tired legs, hot day = not very strong mentally. I feel that is the biggest issue for me to HTFU. Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, ate plenty and had some good times with family and friends. Especially with my race last weekend so fresh, it really reminds me how much I have to be thankful for when it comes to triathlon. A great training group and resource is at the top of my list, you all have been very inspirational and helped me reach goals. And tomorrow I'm heading to the pool to see how I feel and what 30 minutes of swimming does for me. All my soreness, especially in my legs is gone and I was very tempted to run today, just 3 miles. Luckily it was cold, snowing and we're under a high wind advisory so I decided to stay in and organize my home office. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Turkey Trot today 22:23 for the race 2nd in age 19th overall, then ran the kids back in to get 39:10. I'm really proud of the kids, they all improved their times over last race. My oldest by almost 2 minutes, youngest daughter by 2:30 minutes and son by just over 8 minutes. Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 53 min 10k run with the running club. Hot, hot, hot. It was actually a time trial, but in this heat I didn't feel like going for it. The club set up a BBQ for us (too bad I'm a vegetarian), lots of fruit to snack on and icy water. There were prises for winners and the first 'cheater' (whoever cut some corners) got Lance Armstrong drink bottle... Fun times. Mitch S 2 / B 14 / R 14 Rest 5 Total 30 22:33:32 |
