Highest bib number is 3013 so I assume that is the max that would start...factor in the 10% or so no shows and we should be manageable at around 26-2700 good friends toeing the line on race morning.

I was completely content not to race until I think about 26-2700 people doing that swim and I can't not do it!!!!  It's just the greatest, coolest most surreal insanity you'll ever experience in a tri.  LOVE THAT SWIM!!!!!

Hey, who's going to the dinner on Friday night? Is it like a big 'ol pasta dinner? Is it worth the $30 a ticket and dragging the family to? I'd love to meet the whole lot of ya!

At $30 a pop it is not worth the money. New IM ownership just taking more $ from us crazy suckers. Nice videos, biggest losers (people who lost most weight training for IM), oldest-youngest racers and Mike Riley gets you pumped. But $30 for what your family gets for a meal, they can enjoy the village and get a nice meal for less and not have to deal with crowds, parking, sitting under a tent on uneven ground, etc...

At the dinner, do they have the video and motivational Mike Reilly stuff during, before, or after the food? I ask because I probably can't eat the dinner (allergic to wheat, which is in everything) and would go just to see that stuff and not eat anything. I'd rather skip the everyone-else eating part and come late if the Mike Reilly part is at the end...

I sat with a bunch of BTers last year and we had a great time at the dinner!  I think the energy & excitement at the dinner is awesome.   So if you want your family to be a part of that, then it might be worth the $.

Heh. So, to further my "how is a triathlon like a wedding" analogy, I feel like the Friday night welcome dinner is sort of like the rehearsal dinner.

I agree. My plan is to go to the athlete dinner without the family. It is fun to just hang with the other athletes. If interested we could meet up just before outside the tent and sit together. Come one, come all

I plan on going alone as well.  I'll eat at home but it's fun hanging out with you crazy people.  Fact is, there will be so many people at the house we rented, I'll need the time away

Chris Papson athlete #695 ( yea, I know I said it before but I like the way it sounds)

Also 695 = 69 Amazin' Mets and #5 David Wright (who just got a hit right this second in the allstar game)  Sweet.

My prediction:

Swim: 1:04:00
T1: 6:00
Bike: 7:30:00
T2: 4:00
Run: 4:30:00

Total Time: 13:14:00 (?!)

I did a 5:57 for my first HIM (Musselman) so I guess a sub 14 hour first IM is possible!
